Chapter 80 80: 80
Several Asgardian warriors had stopped their own training to watch the spectacle unfold. Some looked at Naruto like he was an absolute fool trying to accomplish the impossible, their expressions carrying amusement and disbelief. Others were far more sympathetic.
To them, Naruto was just a young boy challenging a weapon that even great warriors of Asgard couldn't lift. A few older warriors even nodded approvingly at his stubborn determination. Meanwhile, servants, guards and spectators watched with growing interest as Naruto continued his increasingly desperate attempts to move the hammer.
What came really as shocking to them was when Naruto used Shadow Clone jutsu. That boggled the minds of everyone as multiple clones came together to lift the hammer but failed at the end.
"Haha.. Mother I know about this technique. Rei used it before on Midgard." Thor said.
"Oh!" Frigga smiled at this revelation. She didn't stop the younglings in this small adventure that they have set out for. She wasn't that surprised by the clone technique rather she was looking at Naruto with a bit more sincerity then the rest.
The others were looking at the kid with amusement, while she was a bit serious as she felt a very strong presence on the body of this kid called Naruto. She felt nothing but malice coming out of it, but the boy itself radiated kindness, confidence and warmth.
It was like a constant battle between the two, and the good was winning against the bad inside Naruto. She was confused by this malice that seemed to be alive too. Though she had questions too, but those could wait for now.
Eventually Naruto just gave up and lied flat on the ground. He was frustrated again in a span of few hours. An hour ago he couldn't summon a frog, and now he couldn't lift the hammer?
"Hmph! What a loser." Sasuke scoffed. Naruto instantly stood up and looked dagger at Sasuke.
"If you think you are so capable why don't you come and try." Naruto scowled. The others watching the whole drama couldn't help but get interested in their children drama.
And thus Sasuke too tried after Naruto stepped aside and as expected he couldn't lift the hammer as well, no matter how much he tried.
"There must be a trick to it.." Kakashi said as he too felt it was odd that a simple hammer couldn't be lifted.
"By all means.." Thor allowed their teacher to do the same. Since the moment Thor came to know that Kakashi was their teacher, he wanted to see how capable he was. Though he was sure he too wouldn't be able to lift it.
Naruto mocked Sasuke for failing and Sasuke for the first time in a long time didn't have an argument back. Meanwhile Kakashi went forward and after 10 seconds of trying to lift the hammer he gave up. Sasuke felt relieved that even their teacher couldn't lift it.
"Hey Rei, why don't you try?" Naruto asked.
"It's useless. I can't lift it." Rei replied.
"Why?" Sakura asked, the only one who hadn't tried and from the looks of it, she didn't need to embarrass herself either.
"As he had said before. Only the worthy can lift the hammer." Rei replied and just in cue, Thor came forward and easily lift the hammer. The children looked at all of this with awe in their eyes.
"I want to learn how to do this." Naruto declared. But of course nobody paid him any attention. Meanwhile Sasuke wasn't having it. He had never heard of such a weapon in their world so how come there was one here.
"That's stupid." Sasuke finally said.
The words immediately earned a few raised eyebrows from the Asgardians.
"Oh?" Thor looked amused rather than offended. Sasuke folded his arms.
"If strength isn't enough then how do you even know who is worthy?"
"Hmm.. One day when you feel you are worthy, that day you would be able to lift it. My father can lift it too, so it's not exclusive to me." Thor replied.
"I don't believe in all that." Sasuke said and this time he had much more disaasitisfaction his voice than necessary.
"You seem dissatisfied."
Sasuke looked directly at him.
"I am."
"And?"
Sasuke pointed toward the arena.
"Let's fight."
The arena suddenly became very quiet. Thor's mouth raised into a smile. He had been waiting to have a fight against Rei but since he didn't seem to move or have the urge at all, the next best thing would suffice.
"I like this one."
"Sasuke!" Sakura hissed.
"What?"
"You can't just challenge a prince!"
"Why not?" Sasuke replied. Thor immediately pointed at Sasuke.
"Exactly."
Frigga meanwhile pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Thor."
"Yes, Mother?"
"Do not throw the child through a wall."
Thor looked offended.
"I would never."
Lady Sif coughed and Volstagg looked away while Fandral suddenly found the sky very interesting.
"Thor."
"Fine. I will not throw him through a wall."
Rei meanwhile stepped forward.
"If you are going to do this, then a warning." rei said. "No Chidori."
"What?"
"No direct lightning attacks."
"Why?" Sasuke asked.
"You know why." Rei but he could see that Sasuke wasn't very happy with it and would follow his own views here. Thor had declared that he was the God of Thunder. If he couldn't handle some Chidori, that would be outrageous for his title.
"Fine, a little bit is okay." Rei said at the end when he saw Sasuke moving off.
The massive training grounds suddenly gained far more spectators than before. Warriors who had been training moments ago stopped to watch. This was a spectacle for everyone. The prince fighting a child, or at least that was what they saw, though the rumor had started spreading that these children and the man in white was a foreigner from Midgard.
Thus they were more curious.
Meanwhile Thor rolled his shoulders and smiled.
"Try not to disappoint me, young warrior."
Sasuke's Sharingan slowly spun into existence.
"Hmph."
Thor and Sasuke stood opposite to each other inside the arena while the spectators quietly observed. Most of them didn't think much of it. To them this was simply a child challenging the Prince of Asgard. Even if the child was a foreign warrior from Midgard, there was a limit to what someone his age could accomplish.
"Begin." Frigga announced.
The moment those words left her mouth, Sasuke vanished. The amusement on many faces disappeared instantly.
The young Uchiha appeared several meters to Thor's side and flicked his wrist. A storm of shuriken cut through the air with frightening precision, each projectile taking a different angle of approach while several curved around one another in a manner that looked almost impossible.
CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.
The shuriken struck Thor's body directly. And that too at many parts of his open body surfaces. His shoulder, his neck, his arm... Sasuke was waiting for blood, but not a single blood dropped.
The weapons simply bounced off and scattered across the arena floor. Thor looked down briefly before glancing back at Sasuke.
"That was impressive. You remind me of my brother." Thor's mood became a bit off when he said those words while Sasuke's eyebrow twitched. Without wasting another second, his hands blurred through seals.
"Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!"
A massive sphere of fire erupted from his mouth.
The temperature inside the arena spiked immediately. Several spectators took half a step backward while the fireball crossed the battlefield and swallowed Thor whole.
BOOOOOOM.
Flames exploded upward. Now the arena had become completely silent. The Asgardians weren't surprised because Thor got hit. They were surprised because a child had just unleashed enough firepower to engulf an entire section of the arena.
When the flames finally dispersed, Thor was still standing there. His armor was slightly darkened and smoke rose from his shoulders. That was all. Duh! he was Thor, what did Sasuke expect?
"I like this one too." Volstagg laughed.
Thor grinned.
"My turn."
The floor shattered beneath his feet.
BOOOOM.
Sasuke's Sharingan spun instantly as Thor crossed the distance between them in a blur and threw a punch powerful enough to create visible pressure in the air. The spectators expected Sasuke to dodge.
Instead something stranger happened.
His hair suddenly expanded. Black strands erupted outward and wrapped around him like a shield.
BOOOOM.
Thor's fist struck directly against the mass of reinforced hair. The impact sent Sasuke sliding backward but the defense held. This time even Lady Sif looked surprised.
"What kind of technique is that?"
"Our teacher taught him that." Naruto said. Everyone looked at Kakashi, only for him to lift his hands in surrender and said.
"No. No.. You got the wrong person. Another very powerful man taught him that." He would never take credit for the work of others. Thor meanwhile looked genuinely delighted.
"You blocked that?"
Sasuke didn't answer and immediately attacked again. He wasn't happy with how things were going and wanted to have a more close battle with this man who seemed to be quite annoying to Sasuke.
This man reminded him of Naruto and thus it was all the more reason to beat this guy up.
