Chapter 73: 73
{A/N: Had been down with fever. Still not okay but here is the chapter]
The next day, Thor was sad about the news and just accepted the fact that he would be here forever. Thus what followed the next few days were a sense of brooding and also getting to know the love he was seeing among the mortals.
What followed next was exactly like the canon and finally after almost of week of research, fun times, Rei using his money to bring in more luxury to their life and such other tidbits, the famous friends of Thor was finally here.
They spoke of how Loki had lied to him and this just angered Thor while Rei just looked at everything with no emotions. But that situation didn't last long since the Destroyer was here too.
The huge metal contraption which was bipedal was walking towards their small town bit by bit. Thor and others knew what it was, and knew that this town would be ravaged if it was allowed to roam free here.
"Ray, you need to go home. You still have your butler around right? Call him and take the next flight home." Jane said as she was worried that this boy would be under danger. By now Thor's origins was out in the open and the distant huge robot was enough proof of it.
She just hoped that the boy wouldn't go back home and cut off the funding, as this boy was here for vacations and now had to know about aliens and ancient mythology. She couldn't fathom what this young boy was thinking and hope that his mental state which seemed like a grown up would be helpful in this regard.
Meanwhile Rei looked into the distant robot and replied.
"Do you know what they say of why All-father had created the Destroyer?" Rei asked.
"What?"
Erik and Jane who were with the boy, along with Darcy to decide what they would do was suddenly miffed by the question. Boy, we are asking about you leaving the premises and you are babbling mythology?
Darcy turned back and asked, with sarcasm.
"Oh, I don't know, let me check my extensive collection of Asgardian Murder Robots Monthly. We were talking about getting you out of the giant death-laser's path, Shakespeare." Jane pinched Darcy a bit after that comment, because it was filled with annoyance at the body who under this stress was still calm.
"They say, that Great Odin, made it for fighting against the Celestials." Rei replied.
"A what now?" Darcy asked.
"Nothing.. Thor.." Rei hollered at Thor who was busy talking with his friends and how they would fight against the Destroyer. "I would fight with you guys."
The words instantly made every single person present turn toward Rei.
"What?" Jane almost shouted. "Are you crazy? You are just a boy.. Go home.."
"Just because you could do some arm wrestling doesn't mean jack-shit here in front of laser robot." Darcy replied.
"Not happening."
For the first time in days, Jane, Erik and Darcy were perfectly united on something. Thor meanwhile looked surprised, he knew that Rei was a bit abnormal but they were talking about a Destroyer. That was a different ball game.
"Ray, this isn't some game. The Destroyer can level establishments here."
"And that is exactly why I should help." Rei replied.
"No!" Jane immediately vetoed.
Erik rubbed his forehead.
"We are not sending a teenager against a giant alien murder robot. You speaking of helping is enough. But you need to go home."
"Thank you." Jane pointed at Erik, happy that he finally spoke. Rei sighed.
"You people are really dramatic."
Before anyone could ask what he meant, his hands suddenly came together.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu."
POOF.
A cloud of smoke appeared. And then another Rei stepped out. What followed was absolute silence.
"Hello." The clone spoke.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Darcy screamed. Thor jumped backward.
"I KNEW IT!"
Everyone looked at him.
"I KNEW HE WAS NOT NORMAL!"
Volstagg, Hogun and Fandral, including Lady Sif were confused. It seemed like sorcery to them, Loki knew it too, so they weren't that surprised unlike the mortals and Thor. Jane meanwhile looked between both Reis repeatedly. Her brain had completely stopped functioning, especially after the clone said hello.
"How..."
"Magic." Darcy answered immediately.
Rei scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah... about that. I wasn't being truthful."
"YOU THINK?" Darcy almost exploded.
"I wasn't lying about most things."
"Most things?" Erik asked.
"About ninety percent."
"THAT IS NOT A GOOD NUMBER."
"We can debate on this later. I can stay here while you go and fight." The clone said as he could see in the distant that the robot had almost reached the town. Jane looked like she was about to have an aneurysm, seeing the clone speak, while the other duo didn't seem far from that.
Lady Sif stepped forward.
"So what exactly can you do, sorcerer?"
"You'll see."
Thor laughed hearing that response.
"Now that sounds like a proper warrior."
The next moment Rei reached into a small storage seal and unsealed a suit that Tony had made for him. Jane and others were more dumbfounded looking at the suitcase that had appeared out of nowhere.
"Okay, I am not even asking anymore."
"What's that?" Darcy asked.
"My insurance policy."
A few moments later the teenager disappeared and emerged wearing the suit. No exposed skin or visible face. Jane finally realized this kid had probably been hiding far more than just clones.
"Oh God..." she muttered.
"What now?" Darcy asked.
"I think we accidentally became friends with something much weirder than Thor."

When they arrived to meet the huge construct the situation was already worse than expected. Cars had been overturned. Houses had partially collapsed. Smoke rose into the sky while terrified civilians ran in every direction. SHIELD agents were helping the people escape but there was still chaos around.
The giant construct looked almost alive. Its metallic body reflected the sunlight while every step shook the ground beneath it.
"Stay spread out!" Lady Sif shouted.
The Warriors Three immediately moved. Volstagg charged first with his axe while Fandral circled around the flank and Hogun moved with practiced precision. Rei didn't waste time either.
"Doton: Doryūheki!" [Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall]
A massive earth wall erupted from the ground directly in front of the Destroyer. Tons of stone rose upward and blocked its path. The Asgardians and even Thor along with Jane and others, who were far were more that impressed.
"The boy needs to teach me how to do that." Darcy said.
"What kind of magic is that?" Fandral shouted.
"Complicated!" Rei shouted back.
The Destroyer's head immediately opened. The heat beam fired.
BOOOOOOM.
The earth wall between them just got destroyed in the middle, way too cleanly for the sake of anyone. This thing really just made a path for himself with just a single shot. Rei was expecting it to shoulder barrage this, but nope.
"...Right." Rei muttered. "This thing is ridiculous."
The Warriors Three attacked simultaneously. Weapons slammed against the armor. Lady Sif landed a direct strike with her spear.
Nothing. Not even a scratch.
The Destroyer casually backhanded Volstagg through a building.
"VOLSTAGG!"
Before anyone could react, Rei's hands moved again.
"Suiton: Suidan no Jutsu!" [Water Release: Water Bullet Technique] {The Water Release: Water Bullet Technique is a highly versatile Water Release technique which has many variations. After kneading chakra in their stomach, the user expels a large quantity of water in the form of a powerful torrent towards their intended target.}
A high-pressure bullets of water shot forward and struck the Destroyer directly on the chest. The continuous impact pushed the construct backward several meters. For the first time, the Asgardians saw it stagger.
"NOW THAT ONE HURT IT!" Fandral shouted. But who said that the Destroyer was done?
The battle escalated immediately afterward. Earth spikes erupted from beneath the Destroyer. Water bullets hammered its joints repeatedly. The Warriors Three and Lady Sif coordinated around Rei surprisingly quickly. They had centuries of combat experience and immediately understood that the strange sorcerer possessed the greatest battlefield control among them.
"Left side!"
Hogun moved.
"Leg!"
Lady Sif attacked.
"Duck!"
Rei was hollering commands as he did so. If one looked closely at the eyes Rei, beyond the visor one would see sharingan with three tomoe. The Destroyer was slow and though the sharingan wasn't very helpful here as it wasn't related to speed but it did allow Rei to anticipate attacks.
Unfortunately, the efforts of Rei and the rest weren't too helpful. At one point, Rei thought of opening a fissure on the ground and then bury, but from the durability he didn't think it would work, as he might break Earth.
As he was contemplating his next move, it opened it's face again and shot straight at Rei.
"NOOOO!"
"RAY!"
Everyone shouted as everyone looked with horror as the Destroyer shot at Rei. They had realized overtime that Rei might not be physically strong so that kind of attack might actually kill him.
