Chapter 104: Korrina — “I Refuse to Believe You Have a Fourth Legendary”
"A living Victory Star…"
"That V-shaped body, those adorable little wings…"
"There's no mistake, it really is the Victory Star! It looks exactly like the charm Grandpa gave me!"
"So the world really does have a Pokémon called the Victory Star!!"
If Korrina had been older, or if this had happened to her elderly grandfather instead, the repeated shocks probably would've made him faint on the spot.
"Alright, alright."
Sora was truly helpless with Korrina.
It could only be said that being knowledgeable was a good thing—
but not without drawbacks.
Like now.
Korrina's state was basically the same as Professor Oak encountering an ultra-rare Pokémon.
That uncontrollable urge to research it, study it, get close to it—
there was simply no suppressing it.
And she was only a Gym Leader.
A real researcher would probably already have thrown themselves at the Legendary Pokémon by now.
Special criticism was hereby directed at a certain Professor surnamed Oak.
If not for the absurd physique of a Super Pallet Town Human™, that old man would've had his ashes scattered long ago because of his suicidal research habits.
"So your abilities are invisibility and suppressing your presence?"
Korrina stared at Victini with sparkling eyes, practically wanting to glue herself to the little Pokémon.
"Bini…"
Victini looked utterly helpless and could only turn to Sora for help.
"Ahem."
"Ah—sorry!"
Startled awake by Sora's cough, Korrina instantly blushed bright red.
Remembering her earlier loss of composure, she felt incredibly embarrassed.
"Anyway…"
Sora didn't blame her at all.
Smiling slightly, he beckoned to Lilligant.
"Let's eat first."
"Come on, I made plenty. Eat as much as you want."
Forcefully calming Korrina down, Sora brought out the meal he'd personally prepared.
His cooking wasn't on Brock's genius level, but he still had the standards of a beginner Breeder.
At the very least, nothing he made would poison anyone.
"Th-that's too much, I couldn't possibly…"
Grrrrrr~
Korrina had intended to politely decline a few times first.
Unfortunately, her stomach betrayed her immediately.
Awkward.
Way too awkward.
"Um…"
Her voice became tiny as a mosquito buzz.
"Anyway, thank you very much, Senior."
Taking the food Sora handed her, Korrina's hands moved mechanically while her eyes continued darting around Sora's Pokémon, refusing to waste even a single opportunity to observe Legendary Pokémon up close.
The three Legendaries naturally drew the majority of her attention.
Volcanion sat before an enormous food basin piled high with Pokémon food and dishes Sora had prepared.
Magearna, meanwhile, was eating various rare metals.
Her body possessed the ability to absorb metallic elements from the outside world to maintain functionality.
"Binini~~"
Victini landed atop the table, grabbed a giant energy cube with one hand, and shoved the entire thing into her mouth in one go.
"Mmph—!"
And promptly choked.
This was basically daily life in Sora's household.
Victini had a tiny mouth but an inexplicable obsession with stuffing absurd amounts of food into it.
Of course, at worst she'd only feel uncomfortable for a little while.
If things ever became dangerous, Victini could simply release energy from her body and instantly vaporize whatever was stuck.
But doing that would waste food.
And Victini hated wasting food.
"Poni, poni-um."
Ogerpon nodded repeatedly while helping break Victini's lunch into smaller pieces.
"This Pokémon is…?"
"Ponii~"
Seeing Korrina looking over, Ogerpon gave a little greeting.
And that was it.
Ogerpon was still too shy to really open up.
At the very least, she needed to become familiar with someone before she'd start playing around with them.
Right now—
Ogerpon: Not close enough. Therefore, denied!
Ogerpon did not talk to strangers.
"Another Pokémon I've never seen before…"
Perhaps because she'd already been shocked so many times today, Korrina could now respond somewhat calmly to unknown Pokémon.
"This child is called Ogerpon. You can also call her Ponpon."
"Ogerpon?"
Well.
This time Korrina genuinely had no clue whatsoever.
Not even the slightest impression.
It could only be said that Kitakami's legends were way too obscure.
Forget outside Sinnoh—
even within Sinnoh itself, probably fewer than one in ten thousand people knew about the Loyal Three.
Not to mention Ogerpon, who only appeared in the legends as the villainous "ogre," without even a proper name.
"Excuse me… could she also be some kind of regional legend?"
Korrina instinctively assumed that any Pokémon outside her knowledge base was probably another Legendary Pokémon.
Of course, she only asked casually.
She wasn't expecting much.
'Even for Senior Sora, owning three Legendaries already has to be the limit, right?'
'There's no way every random unfamiliar Pokémon is also a Legendary.'
'Impossible. Absolutely impossible!'
Korrina firmly believed Ogerpon had to be some rare Pokémon from some remote region instead.
"Oh, your guess is right."
"Ponpon really is a Legendary."
"Pffft—cough cough cough!!"
Korrina nearly choked to death on her water.
'Damn it, he completely caught me off guard.'
Korrina was convinced Sora had done it on purpose.
But she had no evidence.
'Again?!'
'This is already the fourth one, isn't it?!'
"I met Ponpon while traveling through the Sinnoh region."
"You probably haven't heard her legend before. It's fairly obscure."
Sora explained:
"Do you know the story of the Loyal Three and the Ogre from Kitakami?"
"Uh…"
Well.
Korrina genuinely didn't know that one either.
Fortunately, she had a PokéGear-like communicator and could look things up online directly.
"Nope."
Because of regional separation, Kitakami's stories had never spread beyond Sinnoh.
There was basically no information about it in Kalos.
No helping it.
Way too niche.
"Don't underestimate Ponpon."
Sora didn't want Ogerpon to be looked down upon.
"She's incredibly strong."
"Even Volcanion acknowledges her power."
"So she's really that powerful?"
As for Ogerpon being adorable—
Korrina whole heartedly agreed with both hands and feet.
Despite this being their first meeting, the ridiculously cute little girl instantly captured Korrina's heart.
'Not only adorable, but strong enough to rival Volcanion…'
'To think some place called Kitakami that I've never even heard of actually has such an incredible legend.'
'Then how strong must those so-called Loyal Three be if they're on the same level as her…?'
