if she used the same amount of energy to unleash V-create, the resulting damage would probably not even reach one-tenth of Volcanion's output.

"…that an extremely tiny portion of the energy undergoes qualitative change."

In other words—

exactly as Sora theorized:

Fire-type energy bypassed life energy entirely and transformed directly into Water-type energy.

Or conversely—

Water transformed directly into Fire.

Many people might not understand why researching this mattered.

So Sora offered a familiar comparison from Earth:

the nuclear bomb.

That's right.

At its core, nuclear weaponry relied upon fusion and fission—

releasing unimaginable power from microscopic particles.

The direct conversion between Water and Fire energy felt similar.

Under immense opposing pressures, a tiny portion of the energy caught between them seemed to undergo a comparable phenomenon.

And in that instant—the tremendous power released from the collapse of that energy was precisely why Steam Eruption possessed such absurd destructive force.

Theoretically speaking, no matter how a Pokémon's attribute energy changed forms, the total amount should remain constant.

However—

during the direct exchange between Water and Fire—

because the intermediary "life energy" step vanished, the central energy became unable to withstand the pressure and collapsed.

Wasn't that eerily similar to nuclear weaponry?

Think about it carefully.

If life energy was a kind of matter—

then its collapse would effectively mean destroying the structural integrity of that life matter itself.

The amount of power released from such a collapse was unimaginable.

Of course, the comparison to nuclear weapons was merely an analogy.

Life energy and attribute energy had nothing to do with actual atomic fusion or fission.

These were entirely different worlds operating under entirely different laws.

What Sora was doing was simply using divergent thinking—

finding that the interaction between attribute energies inside Steam Eruption resembled nuclear principles in spirit.

"If you can deeply study Steam Eruption and truly understand its essence…"

"You may eventually be able to skip the move itself entirely."

"You could simply force Water and Fire energies to collide directly."

The more Sora spoke, the more excited he became.

"If you master such a principle, Volcanion…"

"…you might obtain power capable of rivaling the beings known as gods!"

Volcanion had never considered any of this before.

Yet the grand vision Sora painted completely captivated it.

"To battle gods… and even defeat them!!"

Volcanion knew exactly which "gods" Sora was referring to.

The nearest example was Yveltal.

Volcanion could never forget that black wing of death—

nor the horrifying scene of countless lives being extinguished in an instant.

"Of course, this is still just my theory."

Sora added:

"Whether it's truly possible or not depends entirely on your own experimentation."

"I'm willing!"

Volcanion answered without hesitation, immediately volunteering itself as the test subject.

Well—perhaps "test subject" wasn't the right phrase.

After all, only Volcanion could accomplish something like this.

It was irreplaceable.

"You're sure about this?"

Sora warned:

"Everything I just described is purely theoretical."

"Becoming stronger always involves risk."

Volcanion grinned fiercely.

"If there's risk either way…"

"…why not choose the path with the highest reward?"

"Hahaha!"

Sora burst into laughter.

"You really are something else…"

That was right.

Why not choose the route with the greatest payoff?

Water and Fire coexisting—

breaking the cycle between energy and matter—

and releasing the resulting force.

It sounded unbelievable.

But what if?

What if it truly worked?

"Then let's carefully analyze Steam Eruption itself."

Sora instantly entered full analytical mode.

"To be honest…"

"I'm not very satisfied with this move."

"Grr…"

Volcanion felt extremely displeased being criticized like that.

100% transformation was unrealistic.

Hell, even reaching 2% would already double Steam Eruption's power.

As for the upper limit…

Sora felt that reaching somewhere between 5% and 10% would already be extraordinary.

A five- to tenfold increase in power would allow Volcanion to stand proudly above countless opponents.

Exactly how much energy was truly undergoing qualitative change—

Sora honestly couldn't say whether Volcanion's path was stronger, or if Ogerpon's outrageous stat amplification was superior.

Each had its own advantages.

Pokémon only needed to find the path most suited to themselves.

There was no need to compare with others.

"As for Steam Eruption research…"

"I'll have Vee assist you."

The greatest advantage of Sora's team—

was Victini, the ultimate workhorse.

Terastal energy.

Attribute energy.

Life energy.

None of them were a problem.
