Chapter 105: Fractured Halo
The Sphere of Harmony was meant to be the cultural and theological heart of the Pantheon. It was a sprawling dimension of crystalline lakes, floating amphitheaters, and towers of woven sunlight where the millions of civilian-caste angels—the healers, the choristers, and the archivists—resided.
Today, the crystalline lakes were running red with golden blood.
High Arbiter Valerius (no relation to the dead Warlord) knelt on the steps of the Grand Conservatory, clutching his head. He was a Level 90 celestial scribe, a being of pure, unadulterated faith. But his silver halo was violently violently stuttering, flashing between a pristine white and a sickly, necrotic violet.
He had caught the broadcast.
When the forty-seven crippled galleons of the Solar Vanguard had crashed into the Sphere of Radiance days ago, their dying logic cores had forcefully transmitted the memory of the Original Sin across the unencrypted celestial leylines. The Purifiers had quarantined the transmission within seconds, but in the realm of gods, a second was an eternity.
The mathematical lie had been planted.
"The holy mana is bleached," Valerius whispered frantically, staring at his own trembling, glowing hands. "We are drinking the Abyss. The Goddess... the Goddess stole the foundation..."
[Warning: Conceptual Doubt exceeds 40%. Logic Core destabilizing.]
"Heresy detected," a cold, mathematically flat voice echoed across the courtyard.
Valerius looked up. Descending from the blinding white sky were a dozen Purifiers of the Zealot Caste. They wore immaculate white robes and featureless silver masks, their wings forged from rigid, unmoving light. They did not walk; they glided over the shattered marble, wielding heavy executioner swords of solid holy plasma.
"Brother!" Valerius pleaded, raising his hands. "Look at the leylines! Run the equations backward! The math proves it! The Heretic’s dark mana is the root—"
He never finished the sentence.
The lead Purifier didn’t even break stride. He swung his plasma blade in a flawless, horizontal arc. The kinetic erasure cleanly severed Valerius’s head from his shoulders. The scribe’s celestial body instantly dissolved into sparkling, burning ash.
"Cleanse the courtyard," the Purifier commanded telepathically. "Eradicate any construct whose logic core exhibits a standard deviation of doubt."
All across the Sphere of Harmony, the scene was repeating. The Pantheon was mathematically tearing itself apart. Cathedrals were burning. The fanatical loyalists were actively slaughtering their own civilian castes to contain a localized thought-virus that they fundamentally could not un-think.
High above the slaughter, hovering in the pristine upper atmosphere, Grand Purifier Malachai watched his empire bleed.
The Level 140 Exalted entity gripped his heavy executioner’s blade, his twelve wings of burning sunlight radiating absolute, suffocating authority. He felt no pity for the millions of angels being executed below. To him, they were compromised code.
Suddenly, a massive, jagged distortion in the local space rippled behind him. A winged lieutenant of the Solar Vanguard materialized, dropping to one knee, panting heavily.
"Grand Purifier," the lieutenant gasped. "We just lost tether-contact with the blockade in Sector 4."
Malachai didn’t turn around. "Did the Heretic’s remnants attempt to break the Fold?"
"It wasn’t a fleet, Lord Malachai," the lieutenant answered, his voice trembling with unadulterated terror. "It was a single vessel. A localized anomaly. The leylines registered a ship over three hundred yards long, entirely forged from hyper-dense, corrupted metal. It mathematically devoured our erasure beams and physically rammed the blockade. Exarch of Purity Thorne is dead."
Malachai’s grip on his blade tightened, the solid logic of the weapon actively hissing.
"Trajectory?" Malachai demanded, his voice dropping to a heavy, lethal register.
"It is ignoring the inner Spheres entirely," the lieutenant reported. "It is burning through the gray static, heading straight for the outer rim. Lord Malachai... the Heretic is marching on the Sun-Forge."
Behind his silver mask, Malachai’s golden eyes narrowed.
The Sun-Forge was the hyper-volcanic anvil of the Goddess. It was where the liquid plasma of dying stars was harvested to forge celestial bronze and solar artillery. If the Abyssal Emperor, who had already demonstrated the ability to completely corrupt celestial magic, took control of the Forge... he wouldn’t just have an army. He would have an industrialized apocalypse.
"The Heretic thinks he can walk into the hottest fires of heaven and survive," Malachai broadcasted coldly. "Mobilize the Second and Third Solar Fleets. Wake the Celestial Golems. We will not wait for him to reach the inner sanctums. We will melt his corrupted iron into slag at the Forge."
The Celestial Fold
The Eater of Dawn cruised through the chaotic gray static like an apex predator in deep water.
The localized dimensional static trailing behind the massive Abyssal Dreadnought completely blinded any celestial tracking spells. Down in the belly of the ship, the corrupted logic engines roared, fueled by the shattered silver cores of the Purifier blockade.
On the bridge, Kaelen sat upon his jagged throne.
"The temperature is actively rising, Emperor," Ariel reported, standing by the forward viewport. The Supreme Commander’s six void-metal wings cast long shadows across the dark metal deck. "The ambient heat radiating from the Fourth Choir is beginning to conceptually bleed into the Fold. We are less than an hour from the dimensional barrier of the Sun-Forge."
"Let it burn," he smirked, the heavy, intoxicating gravity of his Level 110 core radiating a slow, deeply satiated pulse. "Elara. How are the shields holding up to the ambient heat?"
"Oh, they are starving for it, Master!" Elara giggled manicly from her navigation console. The Grand Architect’s alchemical brands were glowing a violent, radioactive violet. "The Event Horizon passive is actively eating the thermal radiation! The hotter the environment gets, the denser our Void-iron hull becomes!"
"Perfect," he rumbled.
Lyriel melted out of the shadow cast by the main console, stepping gracefully up to Kaelen’s side. The Demigoddess of the Primordial Shadow looked entirely flawless, her physical form heavily anchored by the Original Sin she had taken from him.
"My autonomous shadows report massive fleet movements from the inner Spheres, Master," Lyriel whispered, her silky voice echoing in the quiet of the bridge. "Grand Purifier Malachai has dispatched at least two full armadas to intercept us at the Forge. They are not going to let us take their armory without a catastrophic fight."
Seraphina let out a deeply euphoric, terrifying laugh from the corner of the room, casually hefting the Eclipse Breaker onto her shoulder.
"Good," the Demigoddess of Entropic War purred, her corrupted golden eyes completely dilated with bloodlust. "I was worried we were just going to steal a factory. I want to break their Exalted toys."
He stood up, the sheer, absolute density of his ambition actively vibrating the heavy iron deck. He walked to the forward viewport, standing between Ariel and Seraphina, looking out into the gray static.
The static was turning a blinding, bleeding orange. The ambient reality was beginning to physically warp under the sheer, unadulterated heat of a million captive, dying suns.
"This is no longer a surgical strike," he broadcasted over the Abyssal Trinity link, his voice echoing down to the ten thousand Void-iron Brutes waiting in the lower decks. "They are bringing fleets. They are bringing golems. They are bringing the absolute kinetic wrath of their dying religion."
He drew his Void-Steel longsword. The catastrophic black fire violently erupted along the blade, completely immune to the rising celestial heat.
"Ariel. Form the Brutes into siege phalanxes. Elara, prime the Entropic Gravity Cannons," he commanded, a dark, world-ending smile spreading across his face.
"We are going to tear the doors off their Forge, and we are going to slaughter everything inside."
