Chapter 392: Ignoring Mom Now?
Ian looked at the teacher and said, "I miss my mom!"
Donna, sitting to the side, glanced at Ian and started to laugh. "You’re a big kid, and you still miss your mommy? I don’t even miss my mom."
Ian heard him but ignored him.
The teacher said to Ian, "Just hang in there, class will be over soon! Come on, I’m going to ask a question about what we learned today. Let’s see who can answer it."
Donna immediately sat up straight, listening to the teacher’s question.
Before the teacher had even finished asking, he raised his hand.
Lana Langley stood to the side, watching her son’s enthusiastic display with a smile. "Did you see that? My son is so well-behaved."
Anne Sutton had no interest in watching Donna. Her eyes were fixed on Ian.
They were in class right now, so she felt it would be rude to go in and interrupt.
Donna stood up, but when the teacher finished stating the problem, he couldn’t answer it!
Even though he had been listening intently, the lesson was honestly too difficult for him.
The teacher looked at Ian and asked, "Ian, do you know the answer?"
Hearing the teacher’s question, Ian asked, "Do I have to say it?"
’I don’t want to be in class at all!’
’He felt as if his mom and dad had abandoned him!’
Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett hadn’t shown up for the past two days, and Lana Langley had told him they didn’t want him anymore, which made him very anxious.
The teacher said, "If you know the answer, I hope you’ll share it with us."
Ian answered the teacher’s question from his seat. The teacher looked at him and said, "Very good. I’m surprised you could answer that."
It was proof that his intelligence was indeed far beyond that of other children his age.
Not only that, but even Donna, who was a little older, was no match for him!
Lana Langley stood by, her face darkening as she watched Anne Sutton’s son steal the spotlight.
She said, "Your son just got lucky. He probably guessed."
Anne Sutton glanced at her. "It’s perfectly normal for children this age not to understand these lessons. Forget them—even if you went in there, you might not understand either."
Lana Langley: "..."
’She really hadn’t understood.’
Looking at Anne Sutton, she retorted, "Who says I don’t understand?"
’There was no way she would admit to something like that!’
As the two were talking, Master Linden walked over, accompanied by Butler Shepherd. He looked at the two women standing by the door. "What are you two doing here?"
Anne Sutton turned around and saw Master Linden. "Hello, Mr. Linden."
Lana Langley immediately became obedient. "Grand-uncle!"
"Who allowed you to come here?" Master Linden’s face was grim. "The two children are in class. If you come here, how are they supposed to focus? You know perfectly well they’ll be distracted if they see you."
Anne Sutton explained, "I just haven’t seen Ian in a few days and wanted to come see him. I didn’t disturb them."
"Go downstairs. Now." Master Linden was very stern.
Anne Sutton watched this unfold, fell silent for a moment, then turned and went downstairs.
Lana Langley followed her down. She said to Anne Sutton, "Grand-uncle said we’re not to disturb the children during class from now on. Especially you. You just spoil the boy."
Anne Sutton sat down. For Nathan Fawcett’s sake, she had been trying to avoid conflict with Master Linden and had been accommodating at every turn, but his attitude still left her feeling rather displeased.
Nathan Fawcett had just finished a phone call.
Seeing Anne Sutton sitting there with a dark expression, he asked, "What’s wrong?"
Anne Sutton glanced at Nathan Fawcett. "It’s nothing."
Nathan Fawcett’s gaze fell upon the two women. He sat down next to Anne Sutton, glanced at Lana Langley, and said, "Second Sister-in-law."
The moment he spoke, Lana Langley’s scalp tingled with apprehension. She quickly explained, "Why are you calling me out? It wasn’t me who made her angry! She was the one who insisted on seeing Ian and got scolded by your maternal grandfather! What does it have to do with me?"
’I’m being totally wronged here, okay?’
Anne Sutton said to Nathan Fawcett, "I’m fine. I’m just waiting for Ian to finish class."
Nathan Fawcett looked at her, seeming to understand. "Then just sit for a bit. I’ll go have a word with Grandfather."
With that, Nathan Fawcett went upstairs.
Just as he got upstairs, he saw that Ian and Donna’s class had ended.
When Ian saw Nathan Fawcett, he pouted and didn’t greet him enthusiastically like he usually did. He was clearly angry.
When Master Linden saw Nathan Fawcett, he said, "Finished with your business, have you? You finally decided to come back?"
Nathan Fawcett explained, "Anne’s mother is sick. She’s been in the hospital for the past two days, so I was with them."
Master Linden said, "I was starting to think you two had decided you didn’t want a child anymore! Look, our Ian is upset."
Nathan Fawcett replied, "With you here, Anne and I are very much at ease."
Ian just stood to the side, staring at Nathan Fawcett.
Nathan Fawcett looked at his son, walked over, and said, "Silly boy, why don’t you say hello to your dad when you see him?"
Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Ian shot him a glare. "Don’t touch me."
"Still angry, huh?"
Ian ignored him, keeping his head down as he walked straight past.
Seeing this, Nathan Fawcett followed him. "Ian."
He followed Ian back to his room and saw the boy lying on the bed, looking aggrieved, with his head buried in his pillow.
He hadn’t felt so aggrieved before, but now, the moment he saw Nathan Fawcett, all those feelings of being wronged came rushing to the surface!
’They just left him here without even asking his opinion.’
Nathan Fawcett sat on the edge of the bed, looking at his silly son. "Why are you crying now?"
Ian said, "I’m never speaking to you again! You guys don’t want me anyway."
Nathan Fawcett said, "Didn’t I tell you? Grandma was sick, so we went to see her! That’s why we couldn’t come see you. Your mom is downstairs. Don’t you want to see her?"
"No." Ian sniffled, feeling wronged.
Nathan Fawcett looked at his silly son. "Alright then, you stay here. I’ll just take her and go home."
Hearing this, Ian lifted his head. His eyes were red. He hadn’t been crying that hard, but at Nathan Fawcett’s words, tears immediately started streaming down his face.
"You’re a meanie!"
Nathan Fawcett looked at his pitiful, aggrieved expression, picked him up, and looked at his soft, adorable son. "So you do want to see your mom after all?"
Ian wiped his tears with his small hands. "You all don’t want me!"
He truly felt wronged!
’Endless classes every day were bad enough, but he couldn’t even see his mom and dad.’
Nathan Fawcett looked at this silly child and said, "Let’s go. I’ll take you downstairs to see her. Your mom misses you too!"
He carried Ian out the door. Butler Shepherd was standing at the entrance and said, "The young master has another class shortly."
Nathan Fawcett said, "He’s not taking any more classes today. Let him rest!"
Butler Shepherd said, "But, this was all arranged by Master Linden."
"I’ll talk to Grandfather." Nathan Fawcett’s gaze turned serious.
Butler Shepherd looked at him, feeling helpless, but didn’t dare to stop Nathan Fawcett.
Nathan Fawcett carried his son downstairs. Anne Sutton, sitting on the sofa, heard Ian say, "Mommy."
She looked up and saw Ian, his eyes red-rimmed, being held in Nathan Fawcett’s arms.
Anne Sutton stood up and walked over to him. She looked at Ian and said, "Is your class over? Come here, let Mommy give you a hug."
Ian, still in Nathan Fawcett’s arms, saw Anne Sutton reach out to hug him, but he didn’t respond.
Anne Sutton looked at him. "What’s wrong, sweetie? Are you ignoring Mommy now?"
