The Progeny Academy: Master of the Elite

Chapter 5: The Gatekeepers

The descent was a blur of white clouds and shimmering turquoise ocean, ending with a smooth, silent touch-down on the Progeny Academy’s private landing strip. As the aircraft’s engines wound down, the silence of the cabin was replaced by the distant, rhythmic sound of the island’s bustling activity.

Jun stood up, stretching his lean frame, feeling the lingering warmth of the flight. Beside him, Sora was already back in “guide mode,” her posture perfect, her expression a mask of refined elegance. However, as she glanced at the monitor showing the landing zone, a flicker of something sharp—something territorial—crossed her eyes.

As the cabin door hissed open, the humid, salt-tinged air of the island rushed in. Waiting for them on the tarmac was a sleek, obsidian-black limousine, its surface polished to a mirror finish. Standing in front of the vehicle were two women.

They were dressed in the same dark blue and gold academy uniforms as Sora, their pleated skirts fluttering slightly in the breeze. Both were stunning, with the kind of polished, high-status beauty that was common among the Academy’s elite. As Jun stepped onto the ramp, both women straightened, their eyes locking onto him with an intensity that was almost palpable.

Their expressions were a mixture of curiosity and hunger. They didn’t just look at Jun; they appraised him. Their gazes traveled over his athletic build and his calm, confident face, their pupils dilating. As Jun descended the stairs, one of the women stepped forward, a playful, flirtatious smile playing on her lips.

“Welcome to the Academy, Prime Candidate Jun,” she began, her voice a honeyed purr. “I am—”

“He is with me,” Sora interrupted, her voice cutting through the air like a chilled blade.

The interruption was so sudden and so sharp that the woman actually blinked in surprise. Sora didn’t wait for a response. She stepped forward, her movement fluid and authoritative, and placed a firm hand on Jun’s arm, guiding him toward the limousine with a possessive grace.

“The Prime Candidate is tired from his journey,” Sora continued, her tone professional but laced with a subtle, icy warning. “I will handle the check-in process. Please, follow me.”

The two women stood frozen for a moment, their expressions shifting from flirtation to confusion, and finally, to annoyance. They watched in silence as Sora ushered Jun into the plush interior of the limo.

As soon as Jun settled into the leather seat, Sora stepped inside and slammed the door shut. The sound was a heavy, metallic thud that signaled the transition from the public world to the private. The limousine was a fortress of luxury, sound-proofed and tinted so darkly that the outside world became a blurred, grey smudge.

Sora didn’t sit down immediately. She turned to the door, her expression shifting. The softness she held for Jun remained, but it was now layered with a sharp, focused authority.

“Just wait here for a tiny moment, Jun-sama,” she murmured, her voice like velvet—sweet, yet unmistakably in charge. She gave him a small, reassuring smile, though her eyes were already scanning the exterior of the car. “I just need to make a few quick arrangements for your arrival. Please… stay right here for me.”

She stepped back out of the car. Because the windows were tinted and the soundproofing was high-end, Jun couldn’t see what was happening, but he could hear a faint, muffled commotion. It sounded like a distant, distorted argument.

“Who does she think she is?” a muffled voice drifted through the glass. “Just because she’s the one assigned to him… she can’t just hog him for herself!”

“Sora, you bitch, let us introduce ourselves properly!” another voice shrieked, though it sounded like it was coming from underwater.

Jun leaned back, a small, amused smile playing on his lips. He could imagine it perfectly: the two women protesting, their voices rising in indignation, only to be shut down by Sora’s iron-clad authority. He heard a few more muffled sounds—a sharp gasp, a huff of annoyance, and then, a sudden, heavy silence.

A few seconds later, the door opened.

Sora stepped back into the car and slid into the seat beside him. The transformation was instantaneous. The cold, commanding woman vanished, replaced by the lovely, devoted companion. She smoothed her skirt and looked at him with a soft, shimmering gaze, her cheeks slightly flushed.

“The arrangements have been finalized, Jun-sama,” she whispered, her voice returning to that melodic, devoted purr. “We may proceed.”

Jun looked toward the front of the limo. The two women from the tarmac had entered the vehicle, but they weren’t in the passenger area. They were squeezed into the front, one in the driver’s seat and the other beside her.

Jun noticed something strange. Both women were now wearing white surgical-style masks that covered the lower half of their faces. They sat perfectly still, their eyes staring straight ahead, their presence reduced to that of silent servants.

Jun let out a soft chuckle, his eyes twinkling with mischief. He leaned closer to Sora, his voice a low, teasing whisper.

“I don’t know about these ‘arrangements,’ Sora,” he murmured, “but you seem to have a lot of things that need ‘handling.’ I didn’t realize being a guide was such an… intense job.”

Sora froze. A deep, vivid crimson flooded her cheeks, spreading from her neck to her ears. She let out a small, awkward cough, her eyes darting away. To hide her embarrassment, she reached over and slid the privacy partition closed, sealing the driver’s area off from their sight.

“I… I simply believe in efficiency, Jun-sama,” she stammered, her voice trembling slightly. She coughed again, her hand fluttering to her chest.

Jun smiled, not saying another word, but his gaze remained fixed on her. He loved the way she crumbled under his teasing, the way the “Iron Lady” disappeared the moment he poked at her composure.

Sora, feeling the heat of his gaze, quickly reached for the refreshment tray built into the armrest. She poured him a glass of chilled sparkling water with trembling hands, her movements lacking their usual grace.

“Would you… would you like some refreshment, Jun-sama?” she asked, her voice barely audible.

As she handed him the glass, her fingers brushed against his. She didn’t pull away. Instead, she leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a tiny, barely perceptible whisper that only he could hear.

“You’re a meanie, Jun-sama…” she breathed, her eyes fluttering.

Jun chuckled and took a sip of the water, feeling a surge of satisfaction. He could tell that the power dynamic between them was only going to grow more interesting.

As the limousine glided forward, the tinted windows revealed the landscape of the island. The urban sprawl of the Academy began to emerge—towering spires of glass and gold, floating gardens, and wide, pristine boulevards.

Jun looked out the window and saw the main Academy building rising in the distance, a monolithic structure of architectural brilliance that dominated the skyline. It was a place of prestige, power, and reproduction.

As the limo approached the grand entrance, Jun knew that the “quiet” part of his trip was officially over. He was a Prime Candidate, and he had just arrived at the center of the world.
