Day 13 – Fire and Faith 6
Alex realized two things standing there.
One was that he hadn’t actually had a prolonged period just to himself for the last two weeks. There always was something or someone to do. Even now he had to remain somewhat vigilant. The totem had turned entirely white, partially from ice, partially from ash. It continued to radiate just a bit of heat. Alex was holding back on investigating until his women were with him again. He wouldn’t want to rob his tomboys of the joy of discovery.
That way lay justified nagging. Seriously, depriving a tomboy of a thrill? He would deserve everything that came for him if he did that.
Second was that he did not much care for being alone. None of the women he now called his, by a chain of events that he still could not fully grasp, ever tired him. Did some of them overstep with their attitude? Sure, here and there, but no one ever pushed it to the point of actual annoyance. He hoped he stopped short of being overbearing as well. Control was good, tyranny was not.
The mild rain was his only company. It also was the reason why his women stirred eventually. “Water…!” Astrid croaked. She was the first to wake up after… Alex guessed 30 minutes. He wasn’t as good at guessing time when the sun was half-covered by clouds.
Alex came over and pulled the water crystal out of the Storage Gauntlet. By the time the blonde had gotten her fill of the spawned water, Yahui woke up. Halfway through her getting her fill, Sara groaned and stretched. “Ooooh, I got a cock-drunk hangover…” she muttered in her half-sleep.
“Welcome to the club,” Yahui said and took a last gulp before handing the crystal over, “or the Cult, rather…?”
“Oh yeah,” Sara’s response was beyond certain. “That… convinced me thoroughly. Master is d-divine… but!” The rabbit tomboy made big eyes at him. “I don’t want our relationship to be… uh…”
Alex suggested a couple of words that flew around in his own fears. “Dogmatic? Formal? Stilted? Stagnantly hierarchical?”
“Yeah, all of those?”
The man of the island gave a deep, understanding nod. “Neither do I. The way I want this to work, optimally, is just… arranging what feels the best for everyone. That’s why it has to be unanimous and, no matter how layered the rituals may get...” He summoned the most sincere smile he was capable of. “...you can always talk to me the way you want. You can call me Master, Alex, dude, bro or dickhead. I love you anyway.”
“Hihi… I would never…!” Sara laughed, then focused on hydration for a bit.
“How about you? Are you accepting Alex as our Lord and Saviour?” Yahui bumped shoulders with Astrid. The two of them sat at the edge of the altar, exactly where they had been pounded half an hour ago.
“Well, bro is objectively our saviour and basically our lord, right?” Astrid shrugged. “That dicking definitely put the proposal into perspective again. I’m game to let this Cult be a thing.”
Yahui smirked approvingly. Her veneration had clearly been intensified from simple to active approval of the cult. Sara had been dragged all the way up into the same position, he could read that in the way she looked at him. Astrid was not as deeply convinced. All the same, she had just said she was with the program.
Alex was in awe at the power of his own dick. At this point, believing he wasn’t a little bit godly would have been denying reality.
‘Don’t let it get to your head,’ he warned himself. ‘Be as responsible with your cock as you were with your cockpit… I am quite thankful no one heard that pun.’
The four of them all jumped when a loud CRACK suddenly filled the air. Alex raised his sword. The three tomboys leapt off the altar and hid behind Alex’s girth. Afraid, they were not, but everyone with a brain knew to be behind the guy with the two-metre slab of sharp, magical stone.
Nothing moved.
“The altar cracked,” Yahui pointed out.
Alex slowly lowered his sword. The raised weapon had exactly hidden from him the linear gap that had appeared in the now white stone. It was extremely clean, like a pane of glass that had been snapped along a cut. “A deliberate fault line?” he wondered, then planted his sword. As he inspected the gap closer, he saw a warm glow at the core of it. It was the source of the pleasant warmth the totem still gave off.
To reach it, Alex would have to move the broken altar or hack away at the totem. If he managed the former, that would be much quicker. The latter was more of a bothersome time investment.

One that Alex aimed to avoid.
The gap was just wide enough to slip his fingers in. The ground, a slurry of wet ash, made for poor footing. Fortunately, the cracks seemed to have also separated what was above and below the ground. All of his titan strength would not allow him to move that stone while pushing against the earth.
Even with this boon, the raw amount of stone he managed to put into motion was swoon-inspiring. The moment his haremettes could do more than watch, they did though. Yahui, Sara and Astrid got their hands into the growing gap and pushed. Bit for bit, they opened up the gap.
“Alright, that’ll be enough for step 2.” Alex gestured for them to take a step back. He wedged his enormous frame between the two halves, feet against one wall, back against the other. Proud as he was of the strength of his arms, in the end the legs would always remain the strongest muscle a human had access to.
The gap widened further, until it was wide enough to walk straight to the centre.
Revealed was an ember. Not a singular, fleeting ember that tumbled through the air. Rather, it was a large chunk, about the size of a basketball, lodged inside a three-dimensional shadow of the runic network that had been carved into the totem when it had been functional. It wasn’t entirely clear if this ember belonged there or if it was a manifestation of the magics that had flown through the totem for… however long it had been.
All the same, it glowed, giving up a constant, pleasant heat. ‘No doubt it could be used for greater purposes if properly harnessed,’ Alex thought. “I’ll try to grab it,” he told his tomboys. “If anything off happens, be ready to drag me back.”
“Roger that, Master!” Astrid chirped.

Approaching with the utmost caution, Alex inched closer and closer to the glowing oval. It was not uniform in its shape, more like a piece of metal that had been melted, then flash-frozen mid-drop. It glowed an incandescent orange, mixed with pink, to create a shade that vaguely resembled a grapefruit of all things.
The warmth it radiated did not notably intensify as Alex got closer. He gave the object a careful tap with a fingernail. It was hot, too hot to hold for long but not so hot that it couldn’t be grabbed at all. Alex was reminded of the times his mother made him clean the cast iron pans. ‘It’s important to wash them before the gunk dries up,’ she had always said. ‘Otherwise, you’re scratching the patina off with the dirt.’
“Sara, get the bag ready,” Alex said. “I’ll pull it out, then drop it straight in there. The leather should be sturdy enough to hold it for the rest of the day.”
“O-okay!” Sara positioned herself behind him, holding the backpack wide open. “Ready!”
Alex took a deep breath, then gripped the sphere with both hands. The shadows of the runes offered token resistance, snapping like drywood while he pulled out the ember. He held it for just a moment, feeling the heat tingle up his arms like a series of kiss-induced goosebumps, then flung it into the backpack.
“Let’s run!” Alex decided immediately after. The totem was creaking. The last of its structural integrity was giving in. The four of them stormed off in a straight line. Alex looked over his shoulder to watch the ancient device collapse straight downwards. Scorched wood and stone turned into a pile of ash and rock shards, heaping upon the broken altar. A cloud of ash spread.
A breathing hazard was all that ultimately turned out to be.
Once they were outside the cloud zone, they stood there and just stared for a bit. The rain helped the dust to settle. Once the sight became boring and general curiosity took over, Sara put the backpack down, and all four of them peered inside.
“I kind of feel horny?” Astrid suggested.
“I concur…” Yahui let out a long sigh. “So much on these islands feels horny.”
“It can be a bit much,” Alex agreed.
They took turns poking and prodding the item. Astrid ultimately picked it up. “It’s not actually burning me,” she pointed out, after holding onto it for a while. “Just a bit hot.”
“R-really?” Sara took it next. Uncertainty, she rolled it back and forth between her hands like a hot potato. In the end, she held it just like Astrid had. “Yeah, feels like a, uhm… bolsa…” She used the Spanish word when the English one eluded her. “...hot… water… bottle? The stuff you use to warm you in bed.”
“I get what you’re trying to say,” Alex assured her, then took the sphere. It was solid, but beyond that the comparison was fairly solid. It was too hot to be comfortable for prolonged exposure, yet his skin wasn’t burning.
Yahui took it last, humming in agreement with the shared experience. “Another artefact for the Cult?”
“I’d rather not keep stacking interesting but useless things in storage… maybe it can be used to fuel a proper fire? A forge, even?” Alex shrugged, while Yahui put the item into the backpack again. “We’ll experiment.”
“Tonight? Or now?” Yahui asked and turned westwards. “The tree is heading for the centre of these ashlands, correct?”
“Correct. We could meet up with everyone in an hour or two,” Alex remarked and then looked east, to the unexplored grasslands. “Though I might want to keep going…”
“Your choice, like always,” Astrid said. “Go ahead, Lord and Saviour!”
He loved the bit of cheek in her tone.

“Let’s return home,” he decided. “That Ember,” he pronounced the word with a bit more gusto now, “feels too valuable to risk damaging by carrying it around. Also, I want to see what the Evelyn and Tess did…”
“Spread the righteous word?” Yahui suggested.
“Declare your divinity between the legs of other women?” Sara added, with a lewd smile on her usually shy face.
Alex rolled his eyes at their playful veneration, then gestured for them to follow.
The trek back was an eventless one. The wet ash made for an annoying walk, sure, but wet was better than the slurry from that torrential day. Plus, without the risk of lava veins beneath their feet, it wasn’t all that hazardous to traverse.
The tree came into view after half an hour. It took them another one to actually reach it. The distant, swaying red approached them in kind. It was most of the way to the volcano already. The distance it could traverse in a day was greater than the distance Alex had ordered it to walk.
Ivies hung in woven drapes from the lower edges of the trunk. Steps were slow enough that the quartet could effortlessly step between them. Alex gestured for his women to lead. “Tomboys first,” he declared. They smirked and winked at him in passing, then treated him to the delectable sight of nubile female frames effortlessly climbing up the ivy meshes. Once they were all on the entrance platform, Alex climbed himself.
It was a comfortable ascent. The ivies were interwoven horizontally, allowing use of all limbs to get to the roughly ten metres off the ground. Perhaps that height would have been a bit dizzying to others. Alex was comfortable with it. He dragged himself over the edge. A protective railing closed up behind him. Not that it was necessary. The tree’s advance was unbelievably well balanced for a, well, mansion of a plant walking.
Once they were inside, it was almost impossible to tell that they were in a moving body.

They dropped their items in the usual room, then went to the bath for a quick rinse. Them moving around got picked up by one of the other inhabitants of the tree.
“Back already?” Blair asked, seated in the ‘lobby’ outside this particular bathroom. It wasn’t the massive one they usually used. Having multiples of them across the layers of the tree gave them that flexibility.
The succubus was alone, her red body contrasting sharply with the green and white plant fibres acting as her rest. “We found something interesting,” Alex kept it vague for the moment. “Where is everyone else?”
“Out,” Blair responded with a singular word. It was to the point, but not quite all that Alex wanted to know.
“Doing what?” he asked, patiently. He was well-used to everyone’s conversational oddities by now. Plus, it was difficult to get annoyed with a tomboy that sucked his soul out through his dick on a daily basis.
Blair stared at him for three full seconds, then began to rattle down the list. “Ashley asked Valeria to show her the temple you found, Tess and Amethyst tagged along with that. Evelyn told Sofia and Selana to come along with her and KIara to look for more metal. Charlotte, Jane, Janette and Niara are hunting.”
“Thank you,” Alex gave a simple nod. Really, the only thing he had wanted to be sure of was that they had all gone out in groups. As long as they didn’t venture too far, he trusted all of them to get back by nightfall. He did have the best sense of orientation out of all of them, but one did not need an active map of the area in their head to make it back to the massive red tree.
“We are starting a Cult?” the succubus suddenly asked.
“Uhm…” Sara cleared her throat. “That is c-currently being talked about, yeah?”
“Evelyn gathered us all up shortly after you four left. She had trouble standing, not to mention talking while Tess lapped the cum out of her pussy.” Blair’s plain report all the same roused Alex’s cock from slumber. The image of Evelyn proselytising to the harem while using Tess’ veneration for his seed as proof was quite hot. “Took her twenty minutes to deliver the basic idea.”
By now, Alex, Yahui, Astrid and Sara had all taken a seat around the succubus. “What do you make of it?” the man of the island asked.
“Nothing yet,” Blair responded, a mild shrug making her moderately sized breasts rise and fall. “I am not immediately opposed, but I will need to think about the consequences before I agree.”
“Y-yeah, I was like that too,” Sara agreed, to Astrid’s supporting nods.
“What changed? No, let me guess – really good sex?”
Sara blushed intensely, as if there was something to be embarrassed about. “Y-yeah… b-but also! The sex was part of a ritual to deactivate an ancient totem!”
Blair just hummed, a sound free of judgement. “Again, I understand. Alex certainly has proven he is more than a man. The fights, the challenges, the sex, they all make a very good case.”
“A fantastic case,” Yahui chimed in.
“I am not judging. I’ll see what the others get up to.” Blair moved ahead of his next question this time. “Obviously, Selana, Amethyst and Sofia immediately threw their support in with the idea. Everyone else is thinking about it.”
“Which is all I ask for,” Alex stated, then smacked his own thighs before getting up. “Now, before we fuse with the furniture, there is actually something you are the perfect woman to handle.”
“Oh?” Blair asked.
