Day 11 – Slow Progress – Entranced with Change
Like the night before, Reason and Instinct found their arm in overlap. Further melding, however, had not occurred. This day had only held a small selection of major events, not enough to spur their growth and fusion notably.
So the one remained silent, turning his gaze to what he could influence: himself.
Though a great leap in strength had not occurred, a nudge in intelligence could be done through the growing power of his slumber. A touch to the head split a new copy of the near endless chain of himself. Thousands of bodies, each a step back towards the moment he had been evicted from his mother’s womb.
Comfort could be found in the past, but purpose laid in the future. As with the previous days, adventure had stirred the potential in the three that had accompanied him during this day. Their souls laid open to him, eager for him to provide them with direction
First, he followed the string to Valeria. Her soul stretched in his presence, quietly and yet impatiently awaiting his judgement upon her feline influences. Various threads connected her to different aspects that underlaid the world. She was a vessel for his advice, a woman who lived and breathed to please her man with her form, just as he would always live to please her. There was no law to his recommendation, only the weight of a dependency on one another for the joy of life.
In Valeria, he saw not just the grace of a common cat, but the strength of a tigress. He yearned to see her power manifested, marking her toned figure with stripes of magic and confidence. Her soul roared in agreement, a singular sound of agreement from the usually so withheld mind.
From quiet to silent, the man of the island ventured, following the thread of love and trust that connected him to Niara. Like a wolf hidden in the underbrush, her soul’s gaze tracked his approach. A good girl down to the base of her being, she prowled forwards to meet him. They were not tangible enough in this esoteric realm to kiss, not yet, but the spirit was there.
In Niara, he saw more than a wolf. He saw a silent ghost, tracking prey through material and immaterial, hidden among both worlds. She was a hunter of everything, his companion in light and dark. The suggestion of this difference in nature stirred something in his own and her soul. There was a concern from Reason, rising against the Instinct. Was a ghost not undead?
“Not this one,” the Instinct assured. “Not ours. The heart will beat. The womb will remain fertile. Life will stay.”
Calmed, the Reason slumbered and let Instinct drive growth forwards. Niara’s being embraced the advised change, weaving itself in ectoplasm in preparation of the adjustments.
Lastly, he traced the connection to Sofia. The brunette existed in a relaxed state, utterly submissive to what he desired. She hovered in the shared mental landscape, her soulbound rapier orbiting her. Many changes could have been made to her… but only one struck the Instinct as appropriate. His sheathe was already who she wanted to be on the outside. All she required was to keep pace.
He suggested an intensifying of the connection between soul and weapon. Sofia absorbed every fragment of the thought as it occurred. As the bond between weapon and wielder increased, the form changed. What had been a rapier turned into two concentric rings of steel. No longer was it a rapier, but the concept of two weapons, to be conjured by the living arsenal whenever she pleased.
Changes would manifest in due time. The souls all around him quivered and began to drift back towards their home bodies. Instinct and Reason had their opportunity to institute lesser changes now, if they so chose.
He issued to Astrid a request of simple, male desire: for her breasts to grow from small to a size larger. This was done on pure whim, with so much less justification than he had for his second order. To Blair’s soul, he communicated the desire for her curves to grow more sinful, to be in accordance with her new, partially demonic nature.
And so the choices were made.
The work was done, the instincts pulled back.
The underlying mind settles within reality once more.
With the dawn comes a new chance at expanding life.
