Alex agreed with himself, joined at the wrist, nodded in the other mirror, and turned to what there was to change. Change was the constant in life, for him, for his, for everything. Only the dead knew eternity unadjusting.

An unexpected thing occurred.

As Alex pondered the changes he should make to the latest in the line of himselves, energy flowed from one of the connected souls to him. He turned to witness the travelling mana, seeping into him like nutrition into the trunk of a mighty tree through its roots. It was green as a leaf and pure like the morning dew.

“”Fae,”” Reason and Instinct realized as one, finding the power to flow from Astrid.

Its origin was weyrd, incomprehensible, which made it expected in the realm of the whimsical nature spirits.

Alex was not used to power being granted to him in this realm. He accepted it all the same. Lovingly offered from one soul to another, it was too beautiful to refuse. The mana seeped into his being, revitalizing another line in the knotted garden of withered trees that was his ancestry.

The power of an Ent surged through Alex. The new version of himself bulged with power. The skin rippled, turning hard in many places. A protective layer of bark that armoured him and that could be dismissed when not needed like so many of these monstrous growths.

Alex concentrated the growth of the day on his muscles. It was less than there had been the previous days, but not every day could provide such explosive advances. He had grown plenty in other ways this day anyhow.

His own development for the day covered, he turned his attention to his women. The connections with the three submissives that he had spent the day with thrummed with power. Mana had seeped into them from adventure and excitement and now it was time to give that latent magic a direction.

First he turned to Amethyst. She was the most and least pliable. Her nature was fluid and it was not human and thus already dedicated to a path in broad. The instinct reckoned that it was best to encourage her on that path, to make her what she had been and then more.

For Amethyst had been the spirit of a lustful spring before and she could be that again. She would be as her source but with the mind to guide her purpose towards greater things than merely awakening some that randomly stumbled across her. The wide-awake soul nodded with glee at the idea, turning towards the element of water, to become an Undine.

In Jane, changes had a broader range, but Alex knew what he wanted. Cute pointy ears had to be maintained! Thus, only unobstructive evolutions were in question. Naturally, turning her into more of an elf was the decision to make.

The Instinct turned the redhead’s soul towards the light. She blinked at it thrice, then nodded, reaching out for it, so that it may permeate her spirit and, from there, change her body. A Light Elf, she would be, renowned for the skill with bow and spell.

Finally, Astrid, the awakening fairy. Six paths were open to her, that Alex could perceive. Seelie and Unseelie or a fairy of a court. Desiring for the woman to live the warmth that was in her every laugh, he suggested to her a dedication to the season of Spring. Her soul leapt with joy at the idea and kissed him even in this ethereal plane.

The Reason looked forwards to the manifestation of these changes the coming day.

With the large guidance given, Alex turned towards the lesser notes in the harmony of this harem. He could plink and plonk, changing the minor variations in it all. Did he desire to?

Two desires he did wish to see fulfilled.

Tess with longer hair sounded pleasant to behold. The raven tide of her black tresses did much to elevate the beauty of the goth woman’s pale face. For them to also frame her huge breasts was, he intuited, wonderful to look at.

Then there was Janette. Admittedly, the antlered woman had been the priority target of his body changing capabilities, but her soul did not reject the suggestions at all. In fact, when he spurred her on to further expand the medium breasts that had once been small, there was a withheld approval in it all. There had to be. All the Intuition did, after all, was suggest and provide - he did not make the actual call.

And so the choices were made.

The work was done, the instincts pulled back.

The underlying mind settles within reality once more.

With the dawn comes a new chance at expanding life.
