Chapter 53: Upcoming birthday party
Susan knocked on her father’s study door softly. When he called her in, she walked inside with a big smile. "Dad, I want you to make your 60th birthday a big celebration. A very big one to invite all the elites," she said excitedly.
Mr Jones, a nice businessman in his early sixties, looked up from his papers. He had a kind face with gentle eyes and silver hair that made him look wise and respected.
He had built his company with honesty and hard work, and he had good connections with most important families, including the Michelson, Lancaster, and Kim families (Min Ho’s family). He smiled warmly at his daughter, but he already knew she was up to something.
"My age is the golden age, so of course I will celebrate it," he said calmly. "But I don’t really want to make it too big. Why do you want such a grand party, Susan?"
Susan sat on the chair in front of his desk. "It will be good for your reputation, Dad. Everyone will come. Think about the connections you will make. It will be perfect for you."
Mr Jones chuckled softly. "I know you, my dear. You always have a plan. But since you want it so much, I will agree. We will make it a big celebration."
Susan was very happy. "Thank you, Dad! You are the best." She stood up and gave him a quick hug before she left the room with a big smile on her face.
She immediately called her assistant. "Aarti, get Lady Madeline’s manager number. The new clothes she launched should be sold to me since she has started sewing her own dresses. Wealthy women are very obsessed with the lady. And you should beg her if possible."
Aarti answered on the other end. "Yes, boss. I will contact her right away. Do you want me to give her your measurements?"
"Yes, do whatever it takes," Susan replied. "I need to look perfect at that party. Make sure everything is ready."
Not long after, the news of Mr Jones’s birthday exploded on the internet. That was what they were good at. They handled the news perfectly, and invitations started going out to all the important families.
Anna saw this news and her eyes glowed with interest. This was a good opportunity for her father. She was sure he would be prepared for it, especially when he wanted to get close to golden rank families like the Michelson, Kim, Lane, and the Lancaster family.
She had investigated Oliver and found out he was adopted by the Lancaster family. Why was he adopted? She investigated deeper but found nothing.
She was unable to trace him with Abigail at all. In fact, it looked like Abigail was the one pushing herself to him. She smirked and picked up her phone. She must have a nice dress and go to that party no matter what.
The restaurant she went to that day had given her a lot of opportunities and followers. It made them trust her more because she was once accused by a model that she was using a fake life.
Although she denied it and wanted to show them she was rich, they had started believing her.
She was about to call Monica when a video suddenly popped up. Her eyes widened and she nervously clicked on it, only to see the sex tape with her friend. She gritted her teeth. "This bastard!" She already knew it was Julius.
Not long after, he messaged her. "If you don’t want to be exposed, come and meet me at the address I’m about to send you."
Anna was about to curse but an idea suddenly came to her. Since she did not have money to buy luxury clothes and bags for Mr Jones’s birthday, she might at least use him to get money. She smiled at her own intelligence.
The address came and she sighed. It was a quiet place but on the roadside. And he wanted her to come there at night? She sighed and clenched her fists. There was no way she could trust him. She would rather act fast before things got out of hand.
" This idiot!!"
...
Abigail sighed deeply before she knocked at a door. Not long after, a woman opened the door and was surprised to see her. "Abbie?" Madam Perry called in disbelief, she even looked around and wondered why she came alone.
Abigail forced a smile and quickly hugged her in tears. She did not know what to do or who to go to. All she needed at that moment was a mother. She had reached the point of not knowing what to do with her life. She had not been herself the moment she ended the call with Oliver.
Why Miranda of all people?
Madam Perry smiled happily and patted her back. "Stop crying or else I would cry too," she said gently. "Come inside, my dear. Tell me what happened."
Abigail smiled and went in. "I missed you so much," she said.
Madam Perry asked about her mum. Abigail rolled her eyes and told her the whole story. Madam Perry was surprised.
She nodded and said, "I guess I was right. I intentionally didn’t allow them to sign that paper, or else you would no longer belong to the orphanage. I wanted to test them first."
Abigail chuckled. she already guessed that and admired her for doing that.
At least, visiting Madam Perry will gave her the strength she needed to face whatever came next. The day had been full of emotions, but ending it with someone who truly cared made everything feel a little better.
Abigail knew she still had many challenges ahead, but she was not alone. She would fight back no matter what, not especially when she noticed Henry don’t want to harm Selena.
She knew Selena will be happy at the upcoming birthday news and she will want to use the opportunity to humiliate her and she would be happy to play the game with her.
