Chapter 838: The Foundation Of The Holyfield Family
Julie sighed again, rubbing her temples.
"Alright, ladies, I need this room cleared. I need to speak with Cassius alone. Privately. Without any naked asses in the background."
The maids giggled, but they quickly gathered their skirts and filed out of the room.
Portia on the other hand approached Cassius.
"Do you need Isabelle and me to service you under the table while you talk?" She asked, her eyes full of fondness. "We can keep you entertained while you listen to what they have to say."
It was a familiar routine. Cassius often got bored during discussions about estate affairs or political matters.
To keep him engaged, several of his women would hide under his desk and pleasure him while he talked.
It had become such a common occurrence that Cassius had specially commissioned a large, hollow desk just for this purpose.
But Cassius shook his head.
"I’m spent from last night." He admitted, a hint of exhaustion in his voice. "My tank is empty. I don’t think I can handle any services right now."
Portia and Isabelle exchanged knowing glances, then nodded. They gave Cassius a quick kiss on the cheek before exiting the room, closing the door behind them.
Now it was just Cassius, Julie, Aisha, and Skadi.
Julie and Aisha took the two chairs in front of the desk, while Skadi immediately leaped onto Cassius’s lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Master! Master!" She chirped, nuzzling into him. "I missed you!"
"I missed you too puppy even the I literally fed you your breakfast a couple of hours ago."
Cassius chuckled, stroking her hair and her tail simultaneously. She purred like a kitten, her eyes closing in bliss.
Julie and Aisha watched with barely concealed jealousy.
They wanted to be in her place. They wanted to be the ones curled up in Cassius’s lap, receiving his affectionate touches.
But they had more important matters to attend to.
So they held themselves back.
Cassius leaned forward, his expression shifting from playful to curious.
"So, what’s so important that you had to kick everyone out? You look like you’ve got something heavy on your mind."
Julie opened her mouth to speak, but Cassius cut her off with a smirk.
"Or is this just an excuse to spend time with me? You know, you could just admit that you miss me. I wouldn’t be angry."
Aisha’s face flushed with indignation.
"Not everyone in this household thinks about you all the time, Cassius! Some of us have other thoughts besides you!"
Julie nodded vigorously. "Exactly! Don’t think so highly of yourself! I have other interests besides you!"
ButSkadi, still nestled in Cassius’s lap, looked up at him with adoring eyes.
"I only think about you, Master! You’re always on my mind. Before food—you’re the first thing I think about. Sometimes you even overtake food!"
Cassius broke into a wide grin. "See? Skadi loves me the best."
He planted a series of kisses all over her face, making her giggle and squirm with delight.
"Master! Master! I love you, Master! So much!"
Julie and Aisha stared at the scene with a mixture of frustration and longing.
The truth was, they thought about Cassius constantly. Even during their duties, he was always there in the back of their minds. They dreamed about him at night. They hungered for his touch.
But they would never admit it.
And now Skadi was getting all the rewards while they stood there like fools.
"Ahem! Anyway!" Julie barked out, her voice sharp as a whip. "We actually came here regarding an extremely important issue, Cassius!"
Cassius sensed the shift in her tone. He stopped his assault of kisses on Skadi’s face and looked at Julie with a raised eyebrow.
"What’s going on?"
"As you are well aware, Cassius..." Julie began, her voice crisp and administrative.
"The harvest season has officially arrived across the continent. Every single agricultural hub from the eastern plains to the southern valleys is reaping their crops."
"Millions of tons of grain, fruit, and livestock are currently being readied for distribution."
She paused, taking a breath—and her eyes immediately twitched.
While she had been speaking, Cassius hadn’t been listening with his hands idle.
Cassius had somehow managed to strip Skadi’s pants off without her even noticing.
The beastkin girl was now sitting on his lap with her lower half completely exposed, her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, but she didn’t say a word of protest.
Instead, she just looked down shyly, her ears flattened against her head, her tail curling nervously around Cassius’s arm.
And then Cassius spread her legs wide open.
Right there.
In front of them.
Julie’s face went through a rapid series of expressions—shock, annoyance, resignation, and finally, pure exasperation.
"Cassius." She said, her voice dangerously flat. "Is this really necessary right now? We’re talking about a serious issue here."
Cassius didn’t even look up at her. His crimson eyes were fixed entirely on Skadi’s lower half.
The wolf-girl’s intimate lips were already glistening, soft, and swollen, her inner pink flesh slightly parting and trembling under the warm air of the study.
"I can still hear you perfectly fine." Cassius said, his tone utterly casual. "And there’s nothing more important than giving my puppy all the love she deserves."
Julie pinched the bridge of her nose.
Aisha, on the other hand, was staring at the scene with wide eyes, her thighs pressed together as she unconsciously rubbed them against each other.
Her face was bright red, and she was having a very hard time concentrating on the matter at hand.
"Anyway." Julie continued through gritted teeth, forcing herself to focus. "As I was saying. The harvest season has arrived. But there’s another term that people use for this time of year."
"Bandit season."
Cassius’s fingers, which had been slowly circling Skadi’s clitoris, paused. He looked up, his brow furrowed.
"Bandit season? Why exactly is that?"
Aisha, seizing the opportunity to tear her eyes away from the lewd sight, cleared her throat and explained, her voice slightly strained,
"It’s because harvests mean profit. There’s money to be made everywhere—crops being transported, merchants coming to buy and sell, farmers storing their goods in barns."
"And where there’s profit, there are people who want to take it without working for it."
She shifted in her seat, trying to ignore the growing warmth between her legs.
"Whether it’s stealing crops directly from farmers, raiding their barns, attacking carts carrying goods, or kidnapping merchants who come to buy and sell—there are all sorts of atrocities that happen during this time. It’s a chaotic period."
Julie nodded, picking up the thread.
"It’s been like this for many years. Criminal activity spikes every season because of the harvest festival and all the money flowing around. It happens annually, without fail."
As she spoke, Cassius had begun fingering Skadi with one hand. His middle finger slid inside her wet folds, curling and pressing against her inner walls.
Meanwhile, his other hand found its way into Skadi’s mouth.
She eagerly began licking and sucking on his digits, her eyes glazed over with pleasure.
Julie’s eye twitched again. She definitely was not jealous. Absolutely not!
"This year is particularly oppressive." She continued, forcing her voice to remain steady.
"According to reports from the neighboring smaller estates, there are far more bandits than usual. The looting has increased dramatically."
Aisha nodded, her voice growing tighter as she watched Skadi’s hips rock against Cassius’s hand.
"Even though the Holyfield estate itself is extremely secure—especially after all the improvements we made last year, where criminal activity became practically non-existent—it doesn’t mean outsiders won’t try to intrude."
"The Holy Guard will have to be much more active in dealing with all these threats. Otherwise, there could be riots and raids all over the farmlands."
"For the next two or three weeks." Julie concluded. "We’ll have to be on high alert."
Cassius increased the speed of his fingering. Skadi’s hips began to buck against his hand, her moans growing more desperate.
"Of course, it won’t be too big of an issue." Julie said, trying to ignore the wet squelching sounds coming from Cassius’s lap.
"All the defensive measures have been set up. We’ve also recruited additional knights and adventurers to assist us."
"We’re confident that nothing too bad will happen."
Her expression darkened.
"But recently, another major problem has popped up. One that’s concerning us greatly. Especially since we’re the ones who need to deal with it, but we’re currently occupied."
Cassius’s fingers stopped moving.
Skadi let out a desperate whimper, her chest heaving up and down. Her pussy was soaking wet, her legs completely drenched with her own arousal.
She was so close to the edge, and he had stopped.
"Master...please..." She begged.
But Cassius’s attention had shifted entirely. He looked at Julie with sharp, focused eyes.
"What exactly is this second problem?"
Julie’s face grew remarkably solemn.
"An emergency courier arrived less than an hour ago."
"The Blood and Iron Brigade...sent an urgent request for military assistance from the Holy Guard."
Schlip!
Cassius pulled his fingers completely out of Skadi.
"Nnnmmgh!" Skadi let out a heartbroken, pathetic whine, squirming in sheer frustration as the sudden cold air hit her weeping core.
But Cassius’s mind had completely detached from the erotic atmosphere of the room.
...The Blood and Iron Brigade.
It was a name that struck absolute terror into the hearts of every syndicate, mercenary group, and rogue warlord across the entire continent.
A military unit so legendary, so utterly invincible, that foreign empires had offered entire duchies just to poach a single battalion of their ranks.
Even the Royal Empress herself had repeatedly attempted to bribe them into her royal service, only to be flatly rejected every single time.
—
In the Holyfield territory, there existed two distinct, elite military forces.
The first was the Holy Guard.
The righteous, noble knights who protected the main estate, maintained law and order in the cities, guarded the family’s commercial trade routes, and served as the shining, heroic face of the Holyfield family.
They were beloved by the public, sworn to protect the innocent, and respected continent-wide for their unyielding morality.
Then, there was the Blood and Iron Brigade.
They were not heroic knights.
They did not parade through the city streets, nor did they interact with common merchants.
They were a stone-cold, ruthlessly disciplined army whose sole, absolute existence was dedicated to guarding the true lifeblood of the Holyfield family:
The Aether Mines.
Centuries ago, the Holyfield family was nothing more than a minor, obscure house on the brink of ruin.
That changed forever when the First Patriarch discovered vast, unfathomable deposits of Aether Ore deep within the barren mountains of their territory—land that every other noble house had deemed completely worthless.
Aether Ore was the single most precious resource in the entire world.
It was the concentrated mana-crystal that powered every magical artifact, defensive barrier array, enchanted airship, and strategic ruin across the continent.
It was the literal equivalent of electricity, oil, and nuclear power combined.
While small Aether veins existed elsewhere in the world, the Holyfield Mines contained over eighty percent of the continent’s entire known supply.
It was this single asset that propelled the Holyfields from obscure landholders into the undisputed richest, most terrifyingly wealthy family in recorded history.
The commercial businesses, real estate, and trade networks of the Holyfield estate, as massive as they were accounted for a paltry twenty percent of the family’s total revenue.
The remaining eighty percent came directly from the dark depths of the Aether Mines.
Naturally, such absurd wealth bred unfathomable greed.
For centuries, the mines were a warzone.
Mountain bandits, greedy neighboring lords, foreign stealth-assassins, and rogue mercenary armies launched endless, bloody raids to seize control of the Aether supply.
Early Holyfield Patriarchs spent nearly all their wealth and lives defending those jagged peaks, erecting massive stone fortresses, and burying thousands of invaders in unmarked mass graves.
But eventually, through ruthless battles, strategic alliances, and an unyielding determination, the Holyfields finally secured their position.
They built walls. They dug trenches. They established a fortress around the mines that made any direct assault suicidal.
The nobles backed off. The bandits learned to stay away. The constant wars subsided.
But that didn’t mean the problems stopped entirely.
There were still underhanded methods.
Groups of bandits hired by rival nobles to cause chaos.
Mercenary companies paid to sabotage operations.
Inner corruption within the administration, siphoning away taxes and resources.
For decades, these smaller, persistent problems continued to plague the mining operations.
Until twenty-five years ago, when the Blood and Iron Brigade was officially established.
