At this, Zhang Shaowen shot to his feet. Pointing at Ding Lan with bloodshot eyes, he roared, "Ding Lan! You're just some woman from a small city, so drop the arrogant act, you hear me!? Terrified by his frenzy, Ding Lan struggled desperately, but as a woman, she was no match for his strength. Zhang Shaowen's expression grew even more twisted as his laughter turned manic.

"HAHAHA… go on, struggle! The more you fight, the more excited I get!"

"You bastard! Zhang Shaowen, you're a monster! Let me go! Let go of me right now!"

"This is illegal..." she pleaded, her voice breaking into sobs. "I was wrong, I'm sorry… please, just let me go… I'm begging you..."

Terrified out of her mind and her face slick with tears, Ding Lan clutched desperately at what was left of her dress, trying to escape his grasp. But it was all hopeless.

Just as Zhang Shaowen was about to rip her dress to shreds, Ding Lan sank into utter despair.

BANG!

At that moment, a loud crash erupted from behind him!

The tremendous noise made Zhang Shaowen whip his head around. When he saw Zhao Dong standing there, his jaw dropped and his mind went completely blank.

"You… you…"

Zhang Shaowen trembled, his eyes bulging as he roared, "So that's it! That's it! Ding Lan, I knew it! I knew you were a bitch who wouldn't put out for me! It's because this bastard Zhao Dong is still servicing you, isn't it? You slut! You're a goddamn slut!"

Enraged, Zhang Shaowen lifted his leg to kick Ding Lan on the bed.

Zhang Shaowen staggered to his feet, his face contorted in pain as he started to make a threat. Zhao Dong took a single step forward, his icy gaze pinning him in place.

An overwhelming killing intent washed over him. Zhang Shaowen felt as if he were facing a ferocious tiger, and a chill shot through his heart.

"Get out!"

Zhao Dong's cold command was just a single word, but it was enough to shatter Zhang Shaowen's courage. He scrambled to the doorway, then turned back to shout one last threat. "You cheating dogs! Just you wait!"

After delivering the standard villainous parting line, Zhang Shaowen fled in disgrace.

Zhao Dong took a deep breath and turned to look at Ding Lan on the bed.

She sat numbly, her eyes vacant. Tears streamed endlessly down her face, a portrait of absolute despair. While her torn dress didn't expose anything vital, she was a wreck.

Zhao Dong sighed, grabbed a bathrobe from nearby, and draped it over her.

After doing this, he asked helplessly, "You weren't a vain person back then. Why would you get tangled up with a piece of trash like Zhang Shaowen?"

Hearing this, fresh tears welled in Ding Lan's eyes as she slowly began to tell him what had happened all those years ago.

"After you left, I was always waiting for you. But my mother… she never approved of you. Later, Zhang Shaowen charmed her, and she started insisting that I get together with him. I actually wrote you so many letters, but you never once wrote back. I thought you had forgotten me.
