Chapter 325: Chance Encounter with an Old Classmate
"Get out of the way! Stop giving me that crap about negotiation experts! I want a car! Give me a car!"
The hijacker was exceptionally agitated.
"Alright, I'll give you a car, just don't hurt Miss Su. We can talk about this calmly," the leader quickly agreed, then gestured for his men to fetch a vehicle.
Before long, a police car stopped at the door. Seeing the car, the hijacker immediately started dragging Su Yurou toward it.
"Get back! All of you, get back!" he bellowed, his eyes bloodshot.
The crowd immediately cleared a path.
"Help me... help me..." Su Yurou looked at Zhao Dong, silently mouthing the words.
Zhao Dong's gaze was fixed on the hijacker. Just as the man was about to get into the car, Zhao Dong suddenly shouted, "Don't shoot!"
The loud bellow startled the hijacker, who reflexively glanced behind him.
At the same time, Zhao Dong lunged forward! His figure moved like a flash of lightning, leaving an afterimage in the air. The hijacker reacted quickly, but by the time he turned back, Zhao Dong's fist, the size of a sandbag, was already crashing toward his head.
BOOM!
With a sickening thud, the hijacker's body went flying. The terrifying power of the single punch had caved in his skull. His body twitched a few times, and then he was lifeless.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye. When Su Yurou finally processed what had happened, Zhao Dong's towering figure stood before her like a mighty tree, giving her an infinite sense of security.
"Zhao Dong!" Emotionally overwhelmed, Su Yurou threw herself into his arms.
"Don't be afraid. You're safe now," Zhao Dong said, gently patting her back to comfort her.
The surrounding crowd was utterly astounded by the scene.
After a while, once Su Yurou's emotions had stabilized, she realized she was clinging to Zhao Dong. Her face flushed crimson, and she quickly let go, not daring to look him in the eye.
「Half an hour later.」
The authorities left, taking the bodies of the hijackers with them.
Gratitude filled Su Yurou's face as she looked at Zhao Dong. "Mr. Zhao, do you have any plans right now?"
"Nothing in particular," Zhao Dong replied truthfully.
"Then... could I take you to the Su family estate? My parents said they'd like to meet you."
Zhao Dong still had a favor to ask of Su Yurou, and seeing as she meant no harm, he saw no reason to refuse.
Ten minutes later, the car drove into a luxurious estate in the suburbs. The estate was situated at the foot of a high mountain with a small river flowing past its gate about a hundred meters away, making it a place of excellent feng shui with both mountain and water features. But as the car entered, Zhao Dong frowned.
Why is the Yin energy so dense here? Could someone have tampered with this place?
Zhao Dong surveyed his surroundings, his eyes quickly locking onto a huge locust tree in the center of the courtyard. The tree was at least a hundred years old and so thick it would take three people to encircle it. The source of the dense Yin energy was this very locust tree.
As the two of them entered the villa, a middle-aged woman in a bright red qipao came out to greet them with a smile.
"Mom," Su Yurou said sweetly, approaching and affectionately taking the woman's arm. She then turned to Zhao Dong and introduced them. "Mr. Zhao, this is my mother, Zhang Fang."
"Hello," Zhang Fang said, greeting Zhao Dong warmly. Her demeanor was very friendly. "Yurou told me what happened on the plane. I can't thank you enough. If it weren't for you, something terrible might have happened to her."
Zhang Fang's words were laced with lingering fear, and her gratitude toward Zhao Dong was sincere.
Zhao Dong smiled. "Auntie, you're too kind. In that situation, I was mostly thinking about saving myself."
Hearing this, a flicker of admiration passed through Zhang Fang's eyes. "Neither arrogant nor servile, and humble as well. You truly are as outstanding as Yurou described. Our Su Family is fortunate to have you as a friend."
They exchanged a few more pleasantries, during which Zhang Fang was exceptionally welcoming.
Taking his cue, Zhao Dong glanced outside before saying, "Auntie, you and Yurou have both been very kind to me, so there's something I feel I should mention."
"What is it?" Zhang Fang's expression turned serious in an instant.
Zhao Dong pointed to the locust tree outside. "That locust tree is emitting Yin energy, and it's affecting the feng shui of the entire villa. I suggest you have it moved. Otherwise, at best you'll suffer financial losses, and at worst, it could cost someone their life!"
"What!?" Zhang Fang exclaimed in shock.
But before she could ask another question, a middle-aged man strode over. "Young Friend Zhao?" the man asked eagerly, looking at Zhao Dong.
Zhao Dong stood up. "Yes, I'm Zhao Dong."
"Hahahaha... Young Friend Zhao, not only are you young and accomplished, but you're also incredibly handsome. Truly a dragon among men!" The man introduced himself, "I am Yurou's father, Su Tian. You can just call me Uncle Su."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Uncle Su," Zhao Dong said respectfully.
"Please, sit, sit," Su Tian gestured for Zhao Dong to be seated, then sighed. "Young Friend Zhao, I truly have to thank you for what happened on the plane today. If it weren't for you, my precious daughter might have..."
"Alright, no need for more thanks," Zhang Fang interjected with a smile. "I've already said all of that."
"It's not just you two; I've said it plenty of times myself," Su Yurou added, her pretty face flushing as she looked at Zhao Dong. "I'm sure Zhao Dong is tired of hearing it by now. If you really want to thank him, you should give him something practical."
"Practical?" Su Tian was momentarily stunned. Then, smiling, he turned to Zhao Dong and asked, "How forgetful of me. I was so caught up in chatting that I forgot to ask where you work, Young Friend Zhao, and what your family does?"
Zhao Dong smiled. "I'm currently unemployed, and my parents are just ordinary workers."
THUMP.
Su Tian's expression immediately froze. His face visibly turned cold and indifferent. "So, you're saying you have no background? You're just a nobody?" His tone had become icy.
Zhao Dong frowned. "Yes, I am a nobody."
"Fine. It doesn't matter if you're a nobody. You still saved Yurou, after all." With that, Su Tian pulled a bank card from his pocket and tossed it onto the coffee table. "Here's five hundred thousand. Consider it payment for saving Yurou. You can leave now."
A flash of annoyance rose in Zhao Dong's heart. Su Tian's attitude had changed faster than one could flip a page in a book.
Noticing Zhao Dong's displeasure, Su Tian couldn't care less. This was how prominent families operated. Interests came first.
It was true that Zhao Dong had saved Su Yurou, but that was merely a catalyst. If Zhao Dong had possessed an extraordinary background, Su Tian would have happily seized the opportunity to befriend him. But since Zhao Dong was just a nobody, Su Tian refused to waste any more time on him.
"Dad! What are you doing?" Su Yurou finally couldn't stand it any longer and stood up to protest. "Zhao Dong saved my life! He's my friend! How can you treat him like this?"
Su Tian snorted coldly. "So what if he saved your life? Have they figured out the hijackers' motives? Maybe they weren't trying to hijack the plane at all, but were creating an opportunity for this kid to get close to you? You can know a person's face, but not their heart! He's just a nobody, so how could he possibly have the guts to confront armed hijackers? Just let him take the money and leave. The Su Family doesn't welcome people like him!" Su Tian's tone was frigid, showing his daughter no courtesy whatsoever.
"Su Tian! I believe Zhao Dong is a good person. He's definitely not the kind of man you're thinking of!" Zhang Fang interjected. "Besides, he just said there's something wrong with our locust tree and told me to have it moved."
"What!?" Su Tian slammed the table and shot to his feet, enraged. He pointed at Zhao Dong and snarled, "Kid, do you have any idea that this locust tree is a special variety I had a friend buy for me? It's the only one of its kind in the entire Provincial City! You dare say there's a problem with my tree? What are your real intentions!?"
Su Tian's aggression began to annoy Zhao Dong. He snorted. "I only gave you a kind reminder because your wife treated me so well. If you don't believe me, that's your problem!"
"Heh, believe you? Who the hell do you think you are?" Su Tian's tone was exceptionally nasty. "Let me tell you, this locust tree is my prized possession! I won't tolerate a fraud like you pointing fingers and making accusations! Get out of my family home immediately!"
Zhao Dong calmly rose to his feet. "Fine, I'm leaving."
With that, he strode toward the door. Just as he reached it, he made a quick calculation with his fingers and paused. "Something will happen to your Su Family tonight."
"Bullshit! Say one more word of nonsense and I'll have someone rip your mouth off!" Su Tian's furious curse echoed behind him.
Zhao Dong had said his piece; he had done all he could. With a cold snort, he turned and left. You can't reason with a man who's courting death. Since Su Tian refused to believe him, he would have only himself to blame when regret inevitably came.
Watching Zhao Dong leave, Zhang Fang and Su Yurou both looked distraught. In their eyes, Zhao Dong was definitely not a bad person. Pouting indignantly, Su Yurou shot a glare at her father and then hurried after Zhao Dong.
"Zhao Dong... wait for me!"
Su Yurou caught up to him, her face filled with guilt. "Zhao Dong, please don't take it personally. My father has been in a high position for many years and has picked up some bad habits. He... he wasn't intentionally targeting you..."
Zhao Dong took a deep breath and said with resignation, "Forget it. For your sake, I'll let it go. But I wasn't lying. You'd better not go home tonight."
With that, Zhao Dong waved a hand and walked away without looking back. Su Yurou wanted to say more, but the words wouldn't come.
After leaving the Su Family estate, Zhao Dong called Lin Qingyun, but she didn't pick up. Since she had returned to the Lin Family, Zhao Dong wasn't too worried. He grabbed a quick bite for dinner and went back to the hotel.
The new moon was rising, and stars dotted the sky. Ling Feng had arranged excellent accommodations for him: a large, lavishly furnished executive suite. Three fights in a row had left Zhao Dong physically and mentally exhausted. After a shower, he was just about to go to bed when the front desk called.
"Hello, sir. Our hotel offers massage services. Would you be interested?" the receptionist's sweet voice asked.
Zhao Dong was about to refuse, but the day's fights had left his body aching with fatigue. A massage sounded like a great way to relax. So, he replied, "Yes, please arrange it."
"Of course, sir. Please wait a moment while I arrange that for you right away."
Ten minutes after he hung up, there was a knock on the door. When he opened it, he saw a woman in a black, hip-hugging miniskirt and a low-cut black camisole.
Zhao Dong looked at her, and the moment he saw her face clearly, he froze. "Wang Jing...?" he said, dumbfounded. "What are you doing here?"
Wang Jing was just as stunned, staring at him in disbelief. "Zhao Dong!?"
