Chapter 308: Resolving Hong Wu
"Hong Wu, you motherfucker, stop!" Zhao Dong's roar thundered.
At that moment, Hong Wu hurriedly looked up, only to see the yacht had already reached the shore. Zhao Dong had jumped aboard, his icy gaze making Hong Wu's scalp tingle with fear.
Terrified, Hong Wu pressed the knife against Song Zixuan's snow-white neck and bellowed, "Zhao Dong, you bastard, get back! If you take one more step forward, I'll take this woman's life!"
Zhao Dong's expression hardened. He frowned and said coldly, "I don't know this woman. Killing her has nothing to do with me." He had to say that to avoid giving Hong Wu any leverage.
"Heh, is that so?" Hong Wu sneered. "You think I didn't see her by your side at the stadium that day? Since you claim you don't care if she lives or dies, then don't blame me for being ruthless!"
With that, Hong Wu applied force to his wrist, and a thin line of blood appeared on Song Zixuan's neck.
"Hong Wu, stop! I'll back off!" Zhao Dong swallowed hard and took a step back. "I advise you to give up, Hong Wu. You're not getting away today. Let Song Zixuan go, and I'll grant you a dignified death."
Hong Wu smiled coldly. "Let me go? If you don't, I'll take this woman down with me. Zhao Dong, can you bear that?" As he spoke, he pressed the dagger in deeper.
Zhao Dong's expression changed. "Hong Wu, don't do anything reckless!"
"Then let me go! Or I'll kill her!" Hong Wu was on the verge of a breakdown, his whole body trembling as he gasped for breath. "Get back! Leave the cabin! Or I'll kill her!"
Having no choice, Zhao Dong retreated step by step.
Suddenly, Song Zixuan spoke up. "Zhao Dong! You can't let him go! We have all the evidence of Hong Wu's crimes. We can't let a big fish like him get away! Don't worry about me! Even if I die, it's worth it to catch that beast, Hong Wu!" Her eyes reddened, filled with a look of fierce determination.
Zhao Dong's heart shook. I can't believe Song Zixuan has such a spirit of sacrifice.
"Zixuan, you..." His expression grew incredibly complicated.
Hong Wu growled, "Zhao Dong, I'm giving you three seconds. If you're not off this boat by the time I count to one, I'll kill her! Three... two..."
"Wait!" Zhao Dong cried out, defeated. "Hong Wu, I can let you go, but you absolutely cannot harm Song Zixuan!"
"Start the boat!" Hong Wu roared.
"Start the boat!" Zhao Dong yelled, looking up at the captain on the third deck.
The captain felt helpless but didn't dare disobey Zhao Dong. Besides, Hong Wu still had Song Zixuan. He was just a traitor bribed by her. If she really died, he would be in for a world of trouble.
The yacht turned and began to move away from the shore.
Seeing this, a sinister glint flashed in Hong Wu's eyes. "Hahahahaha... Zhao Dong, you really are an idiot! Did you actually think I would spare this woman?"
Zhao Dong's face drained of color. A sense of mortal danger washed over Song Zixuan.
Hong Wu kicked Song Zixuan and drew a pistol with his right hand.
CRACK!
A single, crisp gunshot rang out. A bloody hole blossomed at Song Zixuan's waist.
"HONG WU!" Zhao Dong's eyes were bloodshot. With a furious roar, he stomped his right foot on the dock, launching himself through the air like an arrow loosed from its bow and landing directly on the yacht.
"Die!"
Having learned his lesson, Zhao Dong gave Hong Wu no chance to resist. Concentrating Spiritual Energy in his right hand, he slammed his palm down on Hong Wu's head with full force.
With despair in his eyes, Hong Wu shrieked, "Zhao Dong! The Black Dragon Commerce is behind me! If you dare to kill me, they will hunt you down and kill you!"
His struggles were pathetic. "As if you would have spared me? What a joke!"
Zhao Dong's palm descended.
SPLAT!
Hong Wu's head exploded like an overripe watermelon. The metallic scent of blood filled the air. And so, a kingpin of his time had fallen.
After killing Hong Wu, Zhao Dong had no time to celebrate. He rushed to Song Zixuan's side. His heart trembled as he looked at her pale, blood-soaked form. Although his relationship with Song Zixuan was nowhere near as intimate as his with Xu Yafei, to have two women end up like this in his arms on the same day, because of the same man... This feeling... it's truly awful.
"How are you?" Zhao Dong propped her up, channeling Spiritual Energy into her to assess her condition.
Clutching the bleeding wound at her waist, her face as white as a sheet, Song Zixuan broke out in a cold sweat and whispered weakly, "Zhao Dong... am I... going to die...?"
"No... no, Zixuan, you won't die," Zhao Dong said, frantically pouring Spiritual Energy into her body.
She managed a weak smile. "Is Hong Wu dead?"
"He's dead," Zhao Dong nodded.
Adrenaline is a marvelous thing. With Hong Wu's fate weighing on her mind, Song Zixuan had stubbornly held on. Upon learning he was dead, she could no longer fight it. Her eyes rolled back, and she passed out.
The yacht's deck was now slick with blood. Zhao Dong's expression turned grim. She had lost too much blood; if he waited for an ambulance, Song Zixuan would surely die. With no time to think, Zhao Dong quickly lifted her into his arms and carried her toward the cabin.
Fortunately, the yacht was equipped with first-aid supplies. Saving a life was as urgent as fighting a fire. He muttered, "Forgive me." Glancing at the wound located between her chest and waist, he ripped open her clothes. His spiritual probe revealed that the bullet hadn't damaged any organs, but it had severed an artery. When her clothes were torn away, an enticing sliver of black lace was revealed. This girl, Song Zixuan, wasn't as buxom as Tang Xue, but she was still beautifully round and firm.
Zhao Dong poured alcohol over the wound. Even unconscious, her body instinctively convulsed from the searing pain. After cleaning and disinfecting the area, he realized the situation was more complicated. The bullet had struck a rib, and a sharp fragment had lodged itself just below her breast. If it wasn't removed, she would suffer permanent complications.
Zhao Dong's face flushed. He scratched his head and cleared his throat. Right, a healer doesn't distinguish between men and women. This is all for you, so don't blame me. With a sharp tug, an expanse of snowy-white skin was exposed. He pressed one hand over the wound, infusing it with Spiritual Energy to stop the bleeding, while his other hand rested on her chest, manipulating his energy to push the bullet fragment out. The fragments were razor-sharp; the slightest mistake would cause a secondary injury.
A full hour passed. By the time the last fragment was out, Zhao Dong was utterly exhausted, his back drenched in a cold sweat. With the most difficult part over, he used his Spiritual Energy to locate the bullet itself and pulled it out with tweezers. Then, he placed several Healing Pills in her mouth to repair the severed artery and replenish her lost vitality.
After finishing everything, Zhao Dong was completely drained of strength. He collapsed beside Song Zixuan and fell fast asleep. He had been running all over the city today and had twice exerted all his power to save someone. The Spiritual Energy in his body was almost completely gone.
「An unknown amount of time later.」
Song Zixuan groggily opened her eyes. A dim yellow light swayed with the rocking of the yacht. She rubbed her dizzy head and saw Zhao Dong sleeping beside her. For a moment, she was completely disoriented. Where am I...? Then, it all came rushing back, and she understood. To think this guy actually saved me...
Looking at the snoring Zhao Dong, her heart filled with a touch of gratitude. As she replayed the day's events in her mind, her gaze softened. Even though she had told him to ignore her and capture Hong Wu first, she was still only human. Zhao Dong and Hong Wu shared a deep-seated hatred, yet for her sake, he had been willing to let his enemy go. How could she not be moved? She sat up slightly, a tender look in her eyes as she watched him. Reaching for a piece of clothing nearby, she intended to drape it over him.
Huh? This... why is there a woman's... And... why does it look just like mine?
Holding the item, Song Zixuan froze. She instinctively glanced down at her chest.
"AHHH!!!"
A piercing scream shattered the calm of the sea, jolting Zhao Dong awake.
"You bastard! You took advantage of me?" Humiliated and furious, Song Zixuan swung a fist at Zhao Dong's face.
Zhao Dong, completely baffled, looked up to see her enraged face—and her trembling, snow-white bosom. He immediately understood and swallowed hard. "No, no, no! It's a misunderstanding! Let me explain—"
But her fist was already upon him. He dodged hastily, but the cabin was small. As he moved, Song Zixuan lost her footing and tumbled straight into his arms.
THUD!
She knocked him to the floor. Acting on instinct, he reached out to catch her. His hands, however, landed on something soft and springy...
Zhao Dong froze.
Song Zixuan's body went rigid.
They stared at each other.
