Chapter 236: Auction Exhibition
Pressing down on Lin Qingyun's shoulders, Zhao Dong kissed her fiercely.
For a moment, Lin Qingyun's mind went blank. She felt as if she had fallen into a vortex, mercilessly devoured by it.
Zhao Dong's hand, resting on her shoulder, slowly descended, finally stopping on her ample curves. Lin Qingyun shuddered, her face flushing red. Still shy, she unconsciously clenched her fists.
The weight on her vanished. When she opened her eyes again, Zhao Dong had already taken two steps back.
Lin Qingyun stared at Zhao Dong, a complex emotion in her eyes.
Zhao Dong, however, offered a smile. "Alright, you should rest. I need to head back."
Lin Qingyun remained silent, and the two of them just gazed at each other.
Zhao Dong silently lit a cigarette, then spoke slowly.
"Qingyun, when you fall in love with me and are willing to give yourself to me, body and soul—that's the outcome I truly desire. You've had too much to drink tonight."
Lin Qingyun looked at Zhao Dong and opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Zhao Dong smiled, gently stroking her hair before turning to leave.
In a mere moment, his figure disappeared, but Lin Qingyun remained rooted to the spot, lost in a daze for a long, long time…
It was the middle of the night when Zhao Dong returned home. His parents were already asleep.
Back in his room, Zhao Dong looked at the Jade Pendant his biological mother had left him and sighed softly in his heart.
Mother, where in the world are you…
He could guess that his mother had certainly left something inside the Jade Pendant, but the frustrating part was that his current strength was simply insufficient to discern what it was.
What surprised him most was the realization that his mother was also a cultivator. He gave a wry smile. I should have realized it sooner. If my birth parents weren't cultivators, how could I possibly have the talent for cultivation? It seems it was all predestined. Perhaps even finding the Mystic Sky Technique was fated.
The night passed quickly. The next day, a new dawn broke over East Sea City.
As usual, Zhao Dong rose early. He first went downstairs to sense nature's spiritual energy for a moment, then silently practiced the Mystic Sky Fist for a while.
The Mystic Sky Fist was one of the Cultivation Techniques within the Mystic Sky Technique and the first one Zhao Dong had ever encountered. Although the Mystic Sky Fist had few moves, each was incredibly simple and brutal. If cultivated to its peak, its power would be unimaginable.
After practicing for a while, Zhao Dong ate breakfast outside. The Gu Family's auction was scheduled for noon.
He had to attend this auction to see if there were any treasures. Although he was now a Cultivator, he had yet to fully mature and needed to increase his strength as quickly as possible. An event like this was bound to have heavenly materials and earthly treasures, some of which might be useful to him.
With this in mind, Zhao Dong delayed no further and hurried to the Gu Family's auction.
The Gu Family's auction was held in East Sea's largest gymnasium, and many guests were expected to attend. This event, held only once every few years, was a cornerstone of the Gu Family's primary business in jewelry, jade, and antiques. Naturally, those who could afford to participate in this line of work were all wealthy and powerful figures, so the guests today were anything but ordinary.
Soon, he arrived at the entrance. Since the Gu Family had already made arrangements, Zhao Dong didn't need a ticket to enter.
However, it was only just past nine o'clock, so the event hadn't started yet. The gymnasium doors were still closed. Although a few people had arrived, the area wasn't crowded.
Zhao Dong found an inconspicuous spot and silently lit a cigarette.
Just then, several large buses pulled up and stopped in front of the gymnasium. From them stepped groups of beautifully dressed, elegant, and gorgeous young women. Each wore a uniform reminiscent of a flight attendant's, and combined with their stunning looks, they were a beautiful sight to behold.
Zhao Dong glanced over, then froze, a look of surprise on his face as he recognized a familiar figure.
It was Song Qingwan!
Song Qingwan was among the crowd. Tall and exceptionally beautiful, she was a standout even in a group of beauties!
Zhao Dong stubbed out his cigarette, smiled, and started to walk over and greet her.
But just as he began to move, he scratched his head and stopped. With so many people around, and Song Qingwan being a public figure, it wouldn't be right to approach her so recklessly.
Thinking this, Zhao Dong didn't go over immediately. Instead, he dialed her number.
He watched as Song Qingwan frantically fumbled for her phone in the crowd. When she saw who was calling, a delighted smile blossomed on her face.
Zhao Dong took it all in, a warmth spreading through his chest. It proved that he truly held a place in her heart.
Soon, Song Qingwan answered, her voice thrilled. "You rascal, how did you find the time to call me today?"
Listening to her sweet voice, Zhao Dong's heart nearly melted, but he maintained a calm facade.
"Where are you?"
"What's this, checking up on me?" Song Qingwan teased from the other end.
Zhao Dong rubbed his nose and deliberately deepened his voice. "That's right, I'm checking up on you. Let's see what you're up to today."
Song Qingwan laughed. "Silly! Is there any reason not to trust me? My body and my heart are yours. I'm out at an event today. There's a huge auction in East Sea, and they hired a group of us to work as event hostesses, so here we are."
Zhao Dong was surprised. "Aren't you celebrities? Why are you doing this kind of work?"
Song Qingwan laughed. "Silly, we may be celebrities, but we're still signed to an agency. We have to listen to the boss. If the boss tells us to come, we come. It's not too bad, though. A lot of important people are here today, so it's quite a grand affair."
"That sounds tough," Zhao Dong said sincerely.
There was a slight pause on the other end before Song Qingwan said softly, "Where are you, you rascal? I… I kind of miss you."
Zhao Dong smiled to himself. "Guess where I am."
"How would I know? You're always appearing and disappearing. For all I know, you're lying on some other woman's belly right now."
Zhao Dong gave a strained laugh. "Am I that kind of person?"
"You are, but I like you anyway. A man like you... I can't hope to tie you down. As long as we have each other in our hearts, as long as we both consider each other our beloved, that's enough."
Song Qingwan's tone was one of acceptance, yet it held a trace of melancholy. Who wouldn't want to be the sole focus of the one they love? For ordinary people, perhaps that's achievable. But for someone like Zhao Dong, it was impossibly difficult. A man like that is destined to be a bird that flies eternally. He won't linger on any single island, but he will cherish every island he lands on as a lifelong perch.
Zhao Dong could feel the mix of longing and resignation in her voice. He rubbed his nose and said, "What if I told you I was right here next to you? Would you believe me?"
Song Qingwan froze. Her eyes darted around, and finally, she spotted Zhao Dong standing not far away.
The moment she saw him, her beautiful face lit up with a joyous grin, and she hurried toward him!
With a wry smile, Zhao Dong walked to meet her, and they embraced tightly.
The scene naturally drew quite a bit of attention.
However, Song Qingwan seemed completely oblivious, clinging to Zhao Dong like a sloth. Her voice was slightly choked as she said, "You rascal, you haven't come to see me in so long. I've missed you so much."
Zhao Dong gently patted her back. "I'm here now, aren't I? What kind of behavior is this? Everyone's watching you. You have to maintain your image."
Her eyes slightly red, Song Qingwan bit her lower lip and huffed, "Let them watch. I don't care."
Zhao Dong chuckled helplessly and stroked her hair.
Burying her head in his chest, unwilling to let go, Song Qingwan asked, "You rascal, what brought you here today? Did you come specifically for me?"
Zhao Dong rubbed his nose and cleared his throat. "Well... I also came to check out the auction and just happened to see you."
A flicker of disappointment crossed her face, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. She was already overjoyed just to see him.
Hugging him tightly, she smiled with pure bliss. "It doesn't matter why you're here. The important thing is that we've met. After the auction is over, let's go relax. It's my birthday today."
Zhao Dong was taken aback. "Your birthday?"
"Mhm..."
A smile remained on Song Qingwan's face, but Zhao Dong was flooded with guilt. No matter how you looked at it, Song Qingwan had given him her body and her heart; she was his woman. Yet he had been so careless that he didn't even know her birthday.
Zhao Dong took a deep breath. "Alright! After this is over, we'll celebrate! What do you want for a gift? I'll get it for you."
Song Qingwan smiled. "No need. Having you here with me is the best gift I could ask for."
Zhao Dong fell silent, his heart trembling slightly.
Soon, someone from her group began calling for Song Qingwan. It seemed they were preparing to start their duties.
She glanced at Zhao Dong, her reluctance clear. "You rascal, I have to go."
Zhao Dong smiled. "Go on. Work hard. We'll celebrate your birthday later."
"Okay!"
Seeing that no one was looking, Song Qingwan stole a shy kiss on Zhao Dong's cheek and then ran off.
Zhao Dong stood there, stunned for a moment, then touched his cheek, a warmth spreading through his heart.
He waited for a little while longer until finally, the main doors to the exhibition opened.
Groups of people began to trickle in. Not wanting to delay, Zhao Dong followed the crowd into the exhibition hall.
