Chapter 194: The Distinction Between Good and Evil!
Shen Zhuxin, with tears streaming down her face, said, "Zhao Dong, it's all my fault. I've dragged you into this. I shouldn't have brought you here. Please don't be reckless. Just leave with my dad. I can't escape."
Shen Weiping, his expression turning sour, said from the side, "Shen Zhuxin, you are my daughter! My hand is about to be chopped off, and you refused to sleep with them for me. But now you're willing to do it for this kid? I'm your father! Am I less important to you than he is?"
Shen Zhuxin wiped away her tears, her stunning face now cold and disappointed. "Shen Weiping! You are my father in name, but have you ever fulfilled your responsibilities as one? When I was four, your gambling drove my mother away! Do you have any idea what I've been through all these years? I started working part-time jobs as a teenager just to get by. You wouldn't even pay my tuition! I fainted from hunger twice when I was a child! You had money for gambling, but you never had money to pay my school fees, buy food for the house, or get me a single decent set of clothes! And you still have the nerve to call yourself my father?"
Shen Weiping's face flushed crimson with anger, yet he couldn't find a single word to refute her.
Choking back tears, Shen Zhuxin said with profound resentment, "Shen Weiping, I hate you! It would be better to have no father at all! Search your conscience and ask yourself, when have you ever once acted like a father should? If I hadn't managed to get by on my own all these years, I don't know what would have become of me. Shen Weiping, I hate you!"
Shen Weiping, looking somewhat guilty, stammered, "Yes, I admit I haven't exactly fulfilled my fatherly duties to you. But who is this kid? Is he your boyfriend?"
With tears in her eyes, Shen Zhuxin glanced at Zhao Dong. She shook her head and forced a bitter smile. "I wish he were my boyfriend, but he's not. Zhao Dong is just a friend. I've only known him for a day! Yet he was willing to help me this much. He's more useful than my own father! He was kind to me, and now he's in trouble because of me. Of course, I'm willing to sacrifice myself for him!"
Hearing Shen Zhuxin's passionate, heartfelt words, Zhao Dong's heart stirred with emotion.
At that moment, Shen Zhuxin looked at Ninth Master, silent tears streaming down her face. "Ninth Master, I'll agree to your terms. But I have one condition: let Zhao Dong and my dad go."
Ninth Master let out a sinister laugh. "Seeing as you're so sensible, I'll agree. Zhao Dong, take this Shen Weiping and get the hell out of here!"
His men lowered their guns, clearing a path for Zhao Dong.
Zhao Dong remained silent, his heart aching as he watched Shen Zhuxin weep. He pulled out a cigarette and placed it between his lips. Looking at Shen Zhuxin, he blinked and then, surprisingly, smiled. "Zhuxin, do you really think I'd leave you here alone?"
Her eyes rimmed with red, she pleaded, "Zhao Dong, I'm so grateful to you, but please, just go… This is my fault. You wouldn't be in this danger if it weren't for me. You'll die if you don't leave now."
Zhao Dong slowly exhaled a plume of smoke. "Even if it means dying, I won't stand by and watch someone bully you."
Suddenly, something inside Shen Zhuxin shattered. It was the psychological fortress she had built around herself. Her cold exterior and her quiet, reserved nature were all part of that defense. The misery of her family and her scumbag of a father had made her lose all faith in the world and extinguished any desire to connect with others. But in that instant, Zhao Dong had smashed that wall of indifference to pieces. His image was now indelibly seared into her heart. He was like a warm current, melting the ice around her heart and flowing deep inside. Zhao Dong… was the first man to ever enter her heart. She suddenly realized she had fallen in love with him. In that one moment, she knew she would do anything for him.
At that instant, Ninth Master began to clap, a grin spreading across his face. "Well, I didn't expect to witness such a touching scene. I'd have a hard time believing you two aren't a deeply devoted couple. But… since you insist on being so foolish, you can go to hell."
With a wave of his hand, more than ten men raised their guns, aimed directly at Zhao Dong, and pulled the triggers.
Purple-red muzzle flashes erupted like scorching tongues of fire, and bullets tore through the air, screaming toward Zhao Dong. It was a situation that promised certain death.
However, Zhao Dong was a former special forces soldier, his senses honed by straddling the line between life and death. The moment he heard the gunshots, his combat instincts took over and he began to move. The Mystic Sky Technique began to circulate on its own, and his Spiritual Energy burst forth. In an instant, Zhao Dong's speed surged!
Faster than a bullet. That's right, faster than a bullet! This was the terrifying power of a Cultivator.
The bullets hit empty air. In the blink of an eye, Zhao Dong had already rolled to the side. Ninth Master and his men were all stunned. "How is that possible?!"
"Shoot him! Kill him!" Ninth Master roared.
The men opened fire again, unleashing a torrent of flame as the thunderous roar of gunfire echoed through the hall.
Terrified, Shen Zhuxin clamped her hands over her ears, squeezed her eyes shut, and trembled uncontrollably. She couldn't bear the thought of seeing Zhao Dong's body riddled with bullet holes. But if he could be killed so easily, he wouldn't be Zhao Dong.
The bullets traced paths through the air behind him, but Zhao Dong moved like an agile dagger, hugging the wall and dodging every single shot. It was as if he could predict where the next bullet would land. He rolled and leaped, and within a few breaths, he took cover behind a stone pillar.
A rain of bullets slammed into the pillar, blasting its surface to pieces and sending stone chips flying. A bullet grazed his ear, drawing a thin line of blood. Touching his searing ear and seeing the trace of blood on his fingertips, Zhao Dong's entire aura changed.
He slammed a fist into the stone pillar, shattering it. He simply picked up a handful of the resulting stone pebbles and clenched them in his palm. Then, he tossed one out.
The pebble was instantly pulverized by gunfire, and at that same moment, Zhao Dong rolled out from behind the pillar. Bullets immediately descended like a curtain of rain, peppering every spot where he had just been.
Dodging through the hail of bullets, Zhao Dong launched himself into a flip, leaping two or three meters into the air and flinging ten pebbles forward. The ten pebbles tore through the air with a piercing shriek.
A black dot appeared in the pupils of each of the ten men holding guns. It was the pebbles, rushing toward them at terrifying speed. They wanted to dodge, but it was too late; they had already realized the horrific power contained within those small stones.
THUD! THUD!
A mist of blood sprayed into the air. Lines of blood burst from the chests of all ten men at once. Their bodies stiffened in unison before collapsing to the ground.
Silence fell.
Zhao Dong's figure slowly came into view as he walked forward, one step at a time.
Ninth Master stumbled back two steps, his face a mask of unparalleled terror. "This… how is this possible? You're a demon!"
He let out a heart-wrenching shriek and tried to run, but Zhao Dong's eyes turned icy, and his body flickered. He became a blur, appearing instantly behind Ninth Master and clamping a hand around the back of his neck. A voice as cold as a demon from hell whispered behind his ear, "Are you ready to go to hell?"
"S-spare me!" Ninth Master's entire body went cold. The chill radiating from Zhao Dong was like an icicle piercing through him.
Zhao Dong shook his head. "I can't do that. Be a better person in your next life."
He twisted his wrist. CRACK! Ninth Master's neck was crushed. His vision went dark as his last breath escaped.
Zhao Dong tossed the corpse aside and walked toward Shen Zhuxin. She stared blankly at him, as if in a trance, while Shen Weiping had already fainted from sheer terror.
Zhao Dong took her hand, intending to help her up.
The next second, Shen Zhuxin screamed and snatched her hand back. Tears streamed down her horrified face. "You… You're a demon… You killed them!"
She was a crying mess, her face a mask of tears, horror, and disbelief. How could this man she admired be so terrifying? How could he kill over a dozen people without a second thought?
Zhao Dong narrowed his eyes and said slowly, "If I didn't kill them, we would be the ones to die."
"But… they were human beings," Shen Zhuxin sobbed.
"They didn't deserve to be called human!" Zhao Dong retorted sharply, needing to correct her way of thinking before it became a lifelong psychological scar. "Don't you forget what they were trying to make you do!"
As if his words had broken through, Shen Zhuxin's tears gradually subsided. She met his gaze, her own eyes still shimmering.
Zhao Dong sighed softly. "Zhuxin, what's wrong?"
The moment he spoke, Shen Zhuxin shot to her feet, threw her arms around him, and pressed her lips firmly against his. "Zhao Dong, I like you! I love you! No matter what you do, I want to be with you!"
Her tears fell, landing on his lips as she held him in a tight, weeping embrace. It felt as if the world was ending, a tempestuous, desperate storm. Her emotions erupted, her tears bitter.
Zhao Dong knew that Shen Zhuxin was on the verge of a mental breakdown. He was the only person she trusted right now, and that's why she was acting like this.
Her movements were clumsy, but her heart blazed with passion. Her kiss was incredibly deep. She cradled his face, holding the kiss for a long moment before letting go. Staring at him through her tears, she declared, "Zhao Dong, you're the first man to ever enter my heart! I… I want to be your woman!"
Zhao Dong's heart shook. He cupped her face and asked in a hoarse voice, "Shen Zhuxin, do you know what you're saying?"
