Top Soldier Pursued by a Beauty

Chapter 102: Animal Behavior

Ding Lan's eyes were filled with tears. She was already weak from the alcohol, and her mind was muddled. A mere woman, how could she possibly fend off Zhang Shaowen?

She watched helplessly as Zhang Shaowen humiliated her like a wild beast. Ding Lan's tears streamed down her face as she struggled and sobbed, "Zhang Shaowen, you animal, let go of me! Sob… sob…"

Zhang Shaowen had entered a frenzied state and paid no heed to her pleas, his hands growing even more brazen.

Ding Lan screamed in despair, struggling futilely as tears spilled from her eyes.

"Be good and stop struggling. Be my woman today, little Lan. I've craved you for so long."

With that, Zhang Shaowen grabbed the front of her dress and tore it forcefully.

RIP!

The dress was ripped open, revealing a large expanse of her enchanting figure.

Zhang Shaowen swallowed hard, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at Ding Lan before suddenly lunging down!

Ding Lan gave up all hope, tears bursting from her eyes like a broken dam. In that instant, she even contemplated suicide.

But just then, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside, and a figure appeared in the doorway!

"You animal!"

A low shout rang out as a figure rushed in like a gust of wind. It was Zhao Dong!

He moved in a flash, kicking Zhang Shaowen square in the back. Zhang Shaowen screamed as he was sent flying, tumbling toward the balcony!

Before he could even react, a powerful hand gripped his throat. Zhang Shaowen's vision blurred as he was choked and lifted, his body suddenly dangling over the balcony's edge!

This was the sixth floor; his entire body was suspended in mid-air!

Looking at the ground far below, Zhang Shaowen began to shake violently, breaking out in a cold sweat. He didn't dare open his eyes. Losing all composure, he began to sob, begging as he wept, "Zhao Dong… let… let go of me… I'm afraid of heights… Sob, please, I'm begging you, let me go…"

Zhao Dong's gaze was as cold as ice. Staring at Zhang Shaowen, he said coldly, "Pursuing a woman through legitimate means is none of my business. But when you do something like this, you're just an animal. Got it?"

"I get it… I'm an animal… I just got carried away… I was wrong… I know I was wrong…"

Zhang Shaowen's legs trembled, and his trousers suddenly became wet. A pungent, yellowish liquid trickled down, dripping onto the floor below. DRIP. DRIP.

A look of disgust crossed Zhao Dong's face. He hauled Zhang Shaowen up by the neck and threw him back inside.

Zhang Shaowen collapsed to the floor, still trembling uncontrollably, unable to recover from the terror.

Zhao Dong glanced at Ding Lan. She was soaked in tears, clearly terrified by the scene as well. She sat on the floor, staring blankly at him.

When she saw him looking at her, an inexplicable sense of grievance washed over her. Her nose tingled, her eyes welled up, and tears began to fall again. "Zhao Dong…" she sobbed.

Zhao Dong remained silent. He picked up a coat from the sofa and threw it over her, covering her exposed, full curves.

Helping her up, he looked at the tears on her face, his expression changing slightly. After a moment of silence, he said, "It's okay. Don't cry."

"Zhao Dong, sob… sob…" Ding Lan could no longer hold it in and threw herself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. Zhao Dong's body stiffened for a moment. Her cool tears soaked his shirt, seeping into his heart.

After crying for a while, Ding Lan realized how improper it was and abruptly pulled away.

Only then did they both look at Zhang Shaowen, who was still on the floor. He was gritting his teeth so hard it looked like they might break. Seeing Ding Lan throw herself into Zhao Dong's arms made his eyes burn with a cold, man-eating rage.

Ding Lan wiped her eyes, a cold glint still in them as she stared at him. "Zhang Shaowen, you're a madman! You're an animal!"

Zhang Shaowen explained with a pained expression, "Little Lan, I was just… I was overwhelmed… Don't take it to heart, please forgive me…"

"Please leave now. I don't want to see you," Ding Lan said, her eyes filled with cold indifference.

Zhang Shaowen gritted his teeth. "Little Lan, how can you be so heartless with me?"

Ding Lan fell silent. Zhao Dong, who was standing beside her, spoke up, his voice icy, "No matter what, a man should never resort to such beastly actions. Get out."

Zhang Shaowen scrambled to his feet, leaning on a table as he glared at Zhao Dong with resentment. "Zhao Dong… I'm little Lan's boyfriend! What… What are you? What gives you the right to butt in?"

Zhao Dong shrugged. "Whether you're her boyfriend or not has nothing to do with me. And I don't consider this meddling. I'm a soldier. When I see something like this, it's my duty to step in, even for a total stranger. Now, you have ten seconds to disappear. Otherwise, I will beat you so badly that your own mother won't recognize you."

Zhang Shaowen shivered in fear. He shot Zhao Dong a venomous glare before reluctantly backing out of the room.

Gazing at Ding Lan, he wanted to try explaining again, but faced with her icy expression, he gritted his teeth and finally left in defeat.

"Zhao Dong, you just wait," he snarled. "You'll get what's coming to you!"

With that final threat, the sound of his footsteps faded away.

Zhao Dong shook his head with disdain and turned back to Ding Lan.

She sat on the sofa, wrapped in the coat, looking lost. Her hair and clothes were a mess, and her face was pale.

Seeing Zhao Dong look her way, Ding Lan forced a smile, tear tracks still visible on her cheeks. "Why did you come up?"

Zhao Dong replied flatly, "You wish I hadn't?"

Ding Lan gave a desolate smile. "If you hadn't come… tonight, I… I…" She couldn't continue, on the verge of tears again.

Zhao Dong sighed and held up his phone. "I was about to leave, but my phone died. I couldn't get a taxi, so I thought I'd come up and borrow your charger."

Ding Lan glanced at his phone, her mouth parting slightly. A flicker of disappointment crossed her eyes before she forced a smile. "Oh, I see… I have a charger. You can charge it here."

Zhao Dong rubbed his nose. "It's too late now. Just give me the charger. I'll go somewhere else to charge it and find time to bring it back to you."

Ding Lan chuckled through her tears. "You silly man, I only have one. If you take it, how will I charge my phone?"

"Ah…"

Zhao Dong was at a loss, feeling a little awkward. Was he really supposed to charge it here? But if he didn't, it was a long way home, and without a taxi, he certainly couldn't walk.

Sensing his hesitation, Ding Lan smiled. "What, are you afraid I'm going to eat you?"

Zhao Dong shook his head. "No, it's not that. It just feels a little awkward."

"I'm not feeling awkward, so why are you? Sometimes a man should be tougher, more decisive. Stop overthinking everything like a fussy old woman."

Zhao Dong paused, looking at her. Her eyes were deep and tranquil, like a dark lake hiding some unreadable emotion.

Zhao Dong rubbed his nose and avoided her gaze. There's a hidden meaning in her words.

Ding Lan bit her lip and handed him the charger. "That… really, don't overthink it. Zhang Shaowen just left. I'm scared he might come back. With you here… I'll feel more at ease."

Zhao Dong scratched his head. "I make you feel at ease?"

A smile played in her beautiful eyes. "Besides my father, you're the only man who can make me feel safe… even if you're not my boyfriend."

"Why?"

Ding Lan didn't answer. She just handed him the charger and walked into her bedroom. A moment later, she came out holding some clothes. Upon realizing Zhao Dong was still there, she quickly hid them behind her back. With a flushed, bashful expression, she pointed to the bathroom and said, "I'm… going to take a shower. Make yourself comfortable."

Zhao Dong's face flushed, too. In that brief moment, he had caught a glimpse of what she was holding… something black, with lace trim… quite sexy.

He cleared his throat and rubbed his nose. "Alright…"

Ding Lan bit her lip. Seeing his reaction, she seemed to guess what he'd seen. A clever smile touched her lips, and she chuckled softly to herself as she went into the bathroom.

The gentle sound of running water started. The bathroom door was frosted glass, and through it, he could make out the faint, alluring silhouette of her voluptuous figure, her curves unbelievably seductive…

Zhao Dong took a deep breath, trying to suppress the unsettling feeling that was suddenly stirring within him.

His phone still hadn't turned on, and he grew anxious. He was here in the middle of the night, alone with a woman. Their relationship was already so complicated—ex-boyfriend, ex-girlfriend… In any TV drama, it would be abnormal if nothing happened!

Zhao Dong felt like he was sitting on pins and needles.

Just then, the water stopped. Zhao Dong let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. The bathroom fell silent.

There wasn't even the sound of her getting dressed. What is she doing in there? The question popped into his head, followed uncontrollably by a titillating image. He was a man, a completely normal one, and Ding Lan was stunningly beautiful. You can't really blame a guy for his thoughts sometimes.

Zhao Dong forced himself to calm down. Suddenly, the door opened a crack. Ding Lan's lovely face, flushed and dewy from the steam, peeked out.

"Zhao Dong… could you… please get something for me? I… I forgot to bring it in."
