Chapter 43: Stinky Straight Man!
Jiang Nianyu was a complete siren. She was already extremely beautiful, and at this moment, she was so enchantingly provocative that Zhao Dong was almost instantly overwhelmed. His throat grew dry. He swallowed hard and said in a husky voice, "Jiang, don't play with fire."
"I'm not playing with fire. Besides, I've told you before to call me Nianyu. We're about the same age, anyway."
Jiang Nianyu's fragrant voice lingered by his ear, causing him to repeatedly lose his focus. The flames of desire in Zhao Dong grew fiercer. Jiang Nianyu lifted his chin and gave him a tantalizing smile. "What, are you scared?"
Zhao Dong avoided her gaze, his face reddening as he said, "It's not that I'm scared, it's just not appropriate."
"What's not appropriate about it? You're not going to tell me you're saving yourself for Lin Qingyun, are you?"
Zhao Dong nodded. "Something like that."
"Bullshit. You think I don't know about you and Xu Yafei?"
Jiang Nianyu's eyes shone with a piercing intensity. Zhao Dong froze, suddenly incredibly nervous. "How do you know about that?"
Jiang Nianyu rolled her beautiful eyes. "There are many things I know. Come on, help me into the bedroom."
Zhao Dong felt ill at ease. "That's really not a good idea..."
Jiang Nianyu let out a chuckle, poking his nose. "You perv, where is your mind going? I said to carry me into the bedroom, but did I say anything about us *doing* something?"
"Then what for?"
"Give me a massage. My shoulders are a bit sore."
Jiang Nianyu's face was serious, yet a sly twinkle danced in her eyes.
Zhao Dong was even more surprised now. "You even know I can give massages?"
"Like I said, I know a lot. Hurry up! Or I'll get angry."
Zhao Dong had no choice but to lift Jiang Nianyu and carry her into the small room behind the office. Her soft body sent a thrill through him. When he entered the small room, he was immensely surprised. It was a real, small bedroom with large floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the entire city from the top floor of the building. There was a small bed inside, and Zhao Dong placed Jiang Nianyu on it.
Lying on the bed, Jiang Nianyu seemed completely unconcerned about the revealing view her skirt provided. She wiggled her high heels. "Take off my shoes for me."
Zhao Dong looked at her long, silk-stockinged legs, his body growing hotter by the moment. Jiang Nianyu truly is a temptress. He hesitated for a moment but obediently removed her high heels, revealing her delicate bare feet.
"You can go now."
As soon as he took off her shoes, her words startled him, and an odd expression crossed his face.
Jiang Nianyu smiled. "What's wrong? Don't want to leave?"
Zhao Dong scratched his head, coughing twice to cover his embarrassment. "It's not that..."
"Then what is it?" Jiang Nianyu looked at him playfully, her face full of amusement. "You silly man, don't think I don't know what's on your mind."
Zhao Dong sighed in resignation. "You can't blame me. It was your fault for saying..."
"I was just teasing you. Did you think you could have me that easily? Keep dreaming!"
After speaking, Jiang Nianyu stretched lazily, not caring that Zhao Dong was right beside her, and promptly stripped off her skirt and top. Zhao Dong felt a rush of heat to his nose and nearly got a nosebleed.
A flirtatious look appeared on Jiang Nianyu's face. She glanced at Zhao Dong, then burrowed into the covers like a little doe and said lazily, "I really need to rest. Close the door to the room for me as you leave."
Zhao Dong touched his nose, suppressing the turmoil in his heart. He gave her one last look and finally walked out.
Hearing the main office door close, Jiang Nianyu paused for a second before calling out, "Zhao Dong? You really left?"
There was no answer.
Jiang Nianyu's face darkened with anger as she cursed, "Zhao Dong, you damn oblivious man!"
Zhao Dong had no idea what Jiang Nianyu truly intended. For the moment, he was indeed an oblivious man. Leaving the Qingyan Group, he returned to the hospital.
In the hospital room, Zhao Qirou was looking much better. When she saw Zhao Dong, she immediately lit up. "Brother, you're back! Where did you go?"
Zhao Kangming and Wang Xiulian also looked at Zhao Dong curiously. He smiled. "I had to take care of something. How are you feeling now? Are you still in pain?"
Zhao Qirou smiled. "It doesn't hurt anymore! The doctor says my wounds are healing very well. I might be discharged in just two or three more days. They were quite surprised!"
Zhao Dong chuckled to himself. He knew her rapid healing was due to his blood and Spiritual Energy.
After chatting with Zhao Qirou for a while, Zhao Dong went out into the hospital corridor. He was just about to light a cigarette when Ding Lan walked over. "Zhao Dong, are you free for lunch?"
Zhao Dong was taken aback. "What's up?"
"If you're free, can we have lunch together? There's something I want to talk to you about."
"If you have something to say, just say it now."
Ding Lan's expression was complex. She bit her lip and said, "Can't I even treat you to a meal now?"
Zhao Dong frowned. Although he didn't want any involvement with Ding Lan, she had indirectly helped him today. He finally nodded. "Fine. Just tell me the address."
"Let's go together. You can ride in my car."
"Alright."
He accompanied Ding Lan downstairs and got into her car, an Audi A3. Sitting in the passenger seat, Zhao Dong was silent, and Ding Lan didn't speak either.
They quickly arrived at a restaurant and sat across from each other. After ordering a few simple dishes, Ding Lan looked at Zhao Dong and finally asked her question. "Zhao Dong, how exactly did you save that patient today? Do you really know how to treat illnesses?"
Zhao Dong nodded. "A little."
"Did you learn it in the army?"
Zhao Dong remained noncommittal. A hint of doubt crept into Ding Lan's mind. Today, they had reported the matter to the hospital director. The director had even personally called the military unit Zhao Dong had mentioned to inquire. After asking a few people, he was told that there had never been an army medic named Zhao Dong there.
That means Zhao Dong was lying... But he clearly cured Zhao Qirou. So what's really going on? Could it have been... a complete fluke?
Glancing at Zhao Dong, Ding Lan tried another approach. "If you know how to treat people, why not become a doctor?"
"Not interested."
Ding Lan's mouth twitched. She finally got serious. "I'll be blunt. I'm very curious how you healed your sister. Can you tell me?"
Zhao Dong gave a faint smile. "I already told you. Acupuncture."
"How can acupuncture be that miraculous? You're lying to me, aren't you?"
Zhao Dong shook his head. "I can't help it if you don't believe me."
Ding Lan was getting impatient. For some reason, she could never seem to control her emotions when talking to Zhao Dong, and she didn't understand why. Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen, hesitated for a moment, and then answered. "Hello, Shaowen, what's up?"
"Lan, where are you? I went to your hospital but couldn't find you. They said you'd left for the day."
Ding Lan glanced at Zhao Dong, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes before she composed herself. "I'm having a meal at the Vienna Restaurant. You can come over."
"Who are you with?"
"I... I'm with Zhao Dong. We had some things to discuss."
Zhang Shaowen was silent on the other end for a moment, then sullenly muttered, "Alright," and hung up.
After the call ended, Ding Lan looked uneasy. Zhao Dong glanced at her. "Should I leave first?"
Ding Lan said, "No need. There's nothing between us. I have a clear conscience, so I have nothing to fear."
Zhao Dong nodded.
A moment later, the restaurant door opened. Zhang Shaowen walked toward them with narrowed eyes, a touch of coldness in his gaze.
