Mo Fan at his best – Versatile Mage

Chapter 229: Eileens 1 v 1

The air in the National Pavilion suddenly became quiet.

It was not the violent chill of a blizzard, but a serene, bone-deep cold that made everyone’s skin tighten and their breathing slow for half a beat. Fine ice particles floated in the air like silver dust, reflecting the arena lights with a faint blue glow.

Then Wolfie stepped out.

The Snow Frost Star Wolf’s silver-white fur rippled gently, and the ice crown above his head shone with a cold, noble radiance. He did not roar. He did not bare his fangs wildly. He only lifted his head and looked toward the Golden Griffin in the air.

For some reason, that calm gaze made the British team feel a chill crawl up their backs.

The Golden Griffin, which had been diving toward Dongfang Lie like a golden sword, suddenly slowed. Its sharp eyes locked onto Wolfie, and its wings beat heavily, forcing itself to stop midair.

The creature felt challenged.

Not by noise.

Not by killing intent.

But by that silent frost aura that seemed to declare the battlefield had already entered Wolfie’s control.

“Take it down,” Mo Fan ordered.

“Awooo.”

Wolfie gave a low howl. The sound was not loud, but the frost particles in the arena stirred all at once.

The Golden Griffin screeched sharply and charged first. Its golden feathers shone under the dome lights, and its body cut downward with terrifying speed, claws extended like curved blades.

Wolfie lowered his body.

The ground beneath his paws froze.

The instant the Golden Griffin entered his range, rings of ice snapped up from the ground, locking toward its claws and wing joints. The Griffin twisted in midair, shattering the first layer with brute force, but the second layer immediately formed around its legs. Its flight path staggered.

Wolfie moved.

His figure blurred into a streak of pale-blue frost. He leapt upward and collided with the Golden Griffin in midair. The two massive creatures crashed together, golden feathers and ice crystals scattering at the same time.

The Griffin tried to slash Wolfie’s shoulder with its talons, but Wolfie turned his head and bit down on one of its claws.

Ice Fang!

The frost did not merely cover the surface. It spread from the bite point like thin blue veins, stiffening the Griffin’s claw and slowing the movement of its entire front limb. The Griffin let out a sharp cry, flapped its wings wildly, and tried to pull away, but Wolfie dragged it sideways and smashed it down toward the arena floor.

Bang!

The Golden Griffin struck the ground hard, sending gravel and frozen fragments flying. It quickly broke free with golden light, but the confidence in its eyes was gone.

The difference was clear to everyone.

The Golden Griffin had just reached Commander level, while Wolfie had already experienced countless battles beside Mo Fan. Whether it was strength, combat instinct, or control over the battlefield, the Griffin was being suppressed.

The British team’s expressions changed.

They had not expected Mo Fan to casually summon such a terrifying contracted beast.

The man in the sharp British suit standing beside Shad narrowed his eyes. His pupils glowed dark purple, and crackling sparks began to gather above the Chinese team’s position.

A field of lightning spread overhead.

“Lightning Bolt!”

His voice carried a touch of authority.

More than thirty bolts of lightning descended at once. They were not scattered randomly; each bolt carried a sharp purple spark, sealing off a wide area. The attack was meant to force Mo Fan’s team to separate, break their rhythm, and create an opening for Britain to counterattack.

Mo Fan looked up.

The lightning reflected in his eyes.

“Fiery Fist.”

A Fire Star Map formed beneath his feet almost instantly. Bluish-black flames surged around his arm, compressing into a dense spiral. The air around his fist warped from the heat, and the ground near his boots cracked from the pressure of the gathered fire.

“Driven Meteor!”

Mo Fan punched upward.

The flaming fist rushed into the falling lightning like a blazing meteor. The moment the two forces collided, fire exploded across the air, swallowing several bolts directly. The lightning cracked and scattered, some of it breaking apart into thin sparks before it could hit the ground.

A few remaining bolts still slipped through, but Dongfang Lie, Yue Tangxin, and the Water-Light mage quickly defended themselves. Shields, vines, and water barriers rose together, barely blocking the scattered lightning.

The British lightning mage’s face changed.

He had not expected Mo Fan to break apart his lightning formation with a single mid-tier Fire spell.

Before he could retreat, Mo Fan’s eyes flashed silver.

“Trying to run?”

Buzz!

Invisible telekinesis descended.

The British lightning mage’s body froze mid-step. His shoulders sank as if a giant hand had pressed down on him. The ground beneath his feet cracked slightly, and his expression finally changed from caution to panic.

Mo Fan raised his other hand.

Another Fiery Fist formed.

This one was smaller, but more compressed. The flame did not spread outward wildly. It condensed tightly around his fist, making the bluish-black fire look almost solid.

Boom!

The punch struck the lightning mage’s defensive armor head-on. The armor lit up, absorbing most of the force, but the impact still blasted him backward like a cannonball. He rolled across the ground and crashed outside the arena boundary, smoke rising from the surface of his armor.

One British teammate was eliminated instantly.

Eileen’s golden eyes sharpened.

“That mage is strong. Don’t be careless,” she warned.

Shad’s expression also became serious.

His Golden Griffin was still being firmly suppressed by Wolfie. Each time it tried to regain the sky, frost particles gathered around its wings, slowing it just enough for Wolfie to catch up. The Griffin had flight advantage, but Wolfie’s ice control was turning the entire airspace into a trap.

Shad gritted his teeth and began drawing a moon-white constellation.

The constellation expanded beneath him, forming a mysterious summoning pattern. A void gate appeared in the arena, and before it fully opened, heavy roars and pounding footsteps could already be heard from within.

“Earth Blood Beasts, begin your trampling!” Shad shouted.

Mo Fan glanced back at Dongfang Lie and the others.

“You three, leave the field.”

Dongfang Lie did not hesitate.

After seeing the summoning gate, he knew this was not something they could casually block. Yue Tangxin and the Water-Light mage also retreated quickly.

Rumble rumble rumble!

The dimensional gate burst open.

A huge group of bear-like beasts covered in blood-red muscle rushed out. Their bodies were thick and heavy, their limbs powerful enough to crush the arena stone with every step. They poured forward in a wave, roaring as they trampled across the battlefield.

This was not a single powerful summoned creature.

It was a beast tide.

Once the Earth Blood Beasts began charging, they crushed everything in their path. Stone terrain shattered beneath their feet, grass was flattened into mud, and even the remaining ice from Wolfie’s movements was stomped into fragments.

But Mo Fan had already risen into the air.

Silver light flashed under his feet, and Space Magic lifted him above the trampling wave.

The Earth Blood Beasts charged past below him, unable to touch him at all.

Mo Fan looked down calmly.

“Heaven Flame Funeral.”

Fire Star Maps linked rapidly, forming a blazing constellation. The dome above the arena seemed to darken for a moment, then countless points of bluish-black fire appeared in the air like burning stars.

The next instant, they fell.

Blazing Rain!

Fireballs rained down onto the Earth Blood Beast tide. Each impact burst into a violent bloom of flame, swallowing several beasts at once. Their thick bodies were blasted apart from formation, some rolling across the ground with burning patches across their backs, others collapsing after their limbs were scorched and weakened.

The beast tide’s charge immediately became chaotic.

“Water Brilliance—Sky Curtain!”

Eileen reacted quickly.

A purple-blue water curtain rose before the British team, flowing down like a wide waterfall. It caught the falling flames, dissolving their heat and blocking the aftershock from reaching her teammates.

Puff! Puff! Puff!

Flames smashed into the curtain again and again.

Steam surged everywhere.

However, Eileen’s expression changed slightly.

Mo Fan’s fire was not being extinguished as easily as Dongfang Lie’s. Every falling flame carried a fierce soul-level heat. When it struck the Water Brilliance Sky Curtain, it did not vanish immediately; instead, it burned fiercely for a breath, forcing the water barrier to ripple violently.

Some flames even clung to the surface of the curtain, hissing as they tried to burn through the flowing defense.

“A Soul Seed flame,” Eileen murmured.

And not an ordinary one.

Seeing the situation worsen, Shad and the remaining British teammate began retreating. Shad’s beast tide had failed to threaten Mo Fan, while his Golden Griffin was being overwhelmed by Wolfie. If this continued, he would only lose more summoned creatures.

Mo Fan landed lightly on Wolfie’s head.

Wolfie stood in the center of the arena, frost spreading quietly beneath his paws. The ice crown above his head continued releasing fine particles, and the cold air around him grew denser as the fight continued.

At this moment, only Mo Fan, Eileen, and Wolfie remained in the arena.

Mo Fan looked down at Eileen and raised his hand again.

Another wave of Heaven Flame Funeral descended.

Bang bang bang!

Boom boom boom!

Bluish-black fire bombarded the battlefield. Eileen’s Water Brilliance Sky Curtain blocked the first wave, then the second, but Mo Fan’s flames came too densely. Each impact forced the water barrier to tremble, sending waves through its surface. The arena around Eileen was gradually scorched black, and the water vapor became so thick that it blurred everyone’s vision.

Eileen activated her armor magic tool.

A bright protective layer covered her body, and a second shield magic tool unfolded in front of her. Mo Fan’s flames struck the shield, leaving dark burn marks across its surface. The shield held, but each hit forced Eileen back a step.

After several rounds of bombardment, her once neat hair became messy, and her elegant clothes had traces of scorch marks along the edges.

Mo Fan’s expression was not entirely relaxed either.

Eileen’s equipment was excellent.

Her defensive configuration was not inferior to Zhao Manyan’s turtle shell in some areas. If she were an ordinary mage, Mo Fan’s bombardment would have forced her out long ago, but she had already consumed two armor tools and one shield tool and was still standing.

As expected of a noble heir from the Victoria family.

Even after being bombarded, Eileen maintained her elegance.

“I heard that a very strong mage had appeared in Great Xia’s National Pavilion,” she said, brushing some loose hair back. “I thought it might be you, but your strength still exceeds my expectations.”

“Are you still planning to continue?” Mo Fan asked.

“Of course.”

Eileen combed her hair back fully, revealing her beautiful three-dimensional face. Her golden eyes shone with excitement now. Beneath her noble and gentle appearance, she was clearly someone who enjoyed battle.

Mo Fan smiled.

“Then watch carefully. I’m about to show you what a destruction turret looks like.”

“I look forward to it,” Eileen replied.

Mo Fan raised both hands.

Bluish-black flames gathered on one side.

A brighter calamity fire gathered on the other.

Little Flame Belle’s voice rang inside his spiritual world, and in the next moment, she merged into Mo Fan’s body. His aura changed instantly. Fire patterns appeared faintly across his arms and neck, and the flames around him became more violent, more agile, almost alive.

The temperature in the entire arena rose sharply.

Even Wolfie’s surrounding frost mist retreated slightly from Mo Fan’s side, forming a strange scene of fire and ice existing together.

Eileen’s expression finally became solemn.

Her Water Domain was actually being suppressed.

Her water had always been able to soften, dissolve, and extinguish most flames. But Mo Fan’s current fire was different. It carried two kinds of soul-level heat, fused with Little Flame Belle’s calamity fire. The water around her no longer flowed as smoothly as before, as if the flames were forcing her domain to hesitate.

“Ripples of the Soul!”

Eileen suddenly launched a Psychic-type interference spell.

A transparent ripple spread from her golden eyes, aiming directly at Mo Fan’s mind. It was silent, fast, and difficult to defend against. If it landed cleanly, even a destructive mage like Mo Fan would suffer a pause in his casting.

But Mo Fan had been prepared.

Silver light flashed in his eyes.

At the same time, the Concentration Necklace around his neck released a faint protective glow.

Buzz!

The soul ripple struck the invisible mental barrier and dispersed like water hitting glass.

Mo Fan’s casting did not stop.

Behind him, fire wings unfolded.

They were not only the wings of a magic tool. Little Flame Belle’s fire feathers layered over them, forming a pair of blazing wings made from countless burning plumes.

“Fire Feather Thousand Blades.”

Mo Fan shook his wings.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

Countless fire feathers rained down from the sky.

They looked small and graceful, but each feather carried the explosive force of a compressed Fiery Fist. They fell in waves, covering Eileen’s position from every angle. The first wave struck her shield and exploded into rings of fire. The second wave scattered across the ground and erupted upward. The third wave curved in midair, bypassing the front of her water curtain and attacking from the side.

Eileen’s Water Brilliance Sky Curtain expanded.

Purple-blue water wrapped around her like a flowing dome. Fire feathers struck it continuously, each impact producing a burst of steam and a heavy tremor. The water barrier dimmed, recovered, then dimmed again.

One shield magic tool cracked.

Then an armor layer flickered and shattered.

Eileen retreated through the steam, her golden eyes still focused. She raised both hands, and water surged around her feet, forming rotating streams that swept away part of the flames. But Mo Fan’s fire feathers kept falling, forcing her to defend again and again.

From the observation seats, Feng Li’s expression became strange.

Mo Fan was not fighting like a normal mage.

He was standing there like a magical fortress, firing destructive spells without pause. Most High Tier Mages had to carefully consider their magic consumption, but Mo Fan’s rhythm was absurd. Fire, Space, Summoning, Psychic resistance, and Little Flame Belle’s fusion all worked together without gaps.

Below, Dongfang Lie swallowed.

“So this is what he meant by destruction turret…”

The firestorm finally slowed.

The smoke and steam gradually cleared.

Eileen was still standing, but she looked far more disheveled than before. Her hair was scattered, her clothes had scorch marks, and two of her defensive tools had clearly been used up. Still, her posture remained upright.

Mo Fan stood on Wolfie’s head, flames burning around his body and frost drifting beneath his feet.

He looked at Eileen and grinned.

“Not bad. You’re much harder to break than that Egyptian bunch.”

Eileen smiled faintly, though her breathing was no longer as steady.

“And you are much more unreasonable than I expected.”

Mo Fan raised his hand again, bluish-black fire gathering once more.

“Then let’s continue.”
