Chapter 207: A dirty move
After Mo Fan fully recovered, the group boarded the ship and departed for the Pacific Ocean.
Feiniao City did not have any heavy industries, so the sky and sea were exceedingly blue. As they slowly left the safe zone, everyone immediately felt better after enjoying the scenic view of the connected sky and sea.
The girls on the team were all beauties. Jiang Shaoxu was lying lazily on a deck chair, wearing a bold swimsuit and enjoying the sea breeze like she was on vacation instead of an exchange mission. Nanyu sat nearby, calmly reading through the mission documents, while Mu Ningxue stood at the side of the ship, her silver hair drifting slightly in the wind.
The two assholes, Zhao Manyan and Mo Fan, never concealed their gazes. Zhao Manyan was shameless by nature, while Mo Fan was even worse after gaining a Commander level Soul Essence, a pile of loot, and Mu Ningxue’s rare reward. He looked like a man who had already won life.
“Humph!” Gong Yu harrumphed when he saw the two shameless pricks. He folded his arms, acting as if he was far more refined than them.
“The asshole is putting on an act again!” Zhao Manyan had completely fallen out with Gong Yu. He did not even give him a friendly look.
“Time to play with him,” Mo Fan grinned. “Yo, Gong Yu, I believe you haven’t kept your promise after losing the bet last time.”
“Since when did I lose?!” said Gong Yu furiously.
“I had four gall bladders, you had three. Wasn’t it obvious that you lost the bet? Just say it if you want to act dumb. I guess a manly bet like that doesn’t suit you at all,” mocked Mo Fan.
Gong Yu’s expression turned unpleasant. He demanded in a sour voice, “Say it, what do you want?!”
Mo Fan was waiting for Gong Yu to say that. He waved Gong Yu closer.
Gong Yu had a bad feeling when he saw the vicious look on Mo Fan’s face.
As Gong Yu thought, he shook his head fiercely after he finished listening to Mo Fan.
“Impossible!” Gong Yu snapped.
“Fine, don’t pretend that you’re superior again in front of me. You have no guts,” said Mo Fan indifferently.
Gong Yu was furious. He clenched his teeth and said, “I’ll surely ask you to do something worse next time!”
“Bring it on, I like the feeling of my heart racing!” boasted Mo Fan.
Zhao Manyan had no idea what Mo Fan asked Gong Yu to do. He asked Mo Fan when he saw Gong Yu heading for the deck with a face darker than the bottom of a pot.
“Watch closely. The humiliation is only going to last for a moment, don’t miss it!” Mo Fan said to Zhao Manyan mysteriously.
Zhao Manyan was even more confused. He was just about to ask when he saw Gong Yu walk to the front of the deck, stand stiffly in front of everyone, and take a deep breath.
The sea breeze blew across the deck.
Everyone slowly turned to look at him.
Gong Yu’s face twitched. He looked like he would rather jump into the ocean and fight a Commander level sea monster than say the words Mo Fan had given him.
Finally, through gritted teeth, Gong Yu shouted, “Mo Fan is stronger than me!”
The deck went silent.
Zhao Manyan froze for half a second, then burst out laughing.
Jiang Shaoxu immediately sat up from her chair, her eyes sparkling with interest. “What was that? I didn’t hear clearly. Say it again.”
Gong Yu’s face turned red. “I said, Mo Fan is stronger than me!”
Mo Fan leaned comfortably against the chair, looking like a tyrant enjoying tribute. “There’s still one more line.”
Gong Yu glared at him. “Do not go too far!”
“You lost the bet,” Mo Fan said calmly. “A man keeps his word.”
Gong Yu almost spat blood. He had used those same words against others before. Now Mo Fan had thrown them back at his face.
Under everyone’s amused gazes, Gong Yu clenched his fists and shouted, “I, Gong Yu, admit defeat!”
This time, the whole deck exploded with laughter.
Zhao Manyan was almost choking. “Splendid! Mo Fan, this is better than throwing him into the sea!”
Jiang Shaoxu smiled brightly. “Not bad. At least Gong Yu has some courage.”
Nanyu shook her head helplessly. “You two really cannot stay quiet for even one day?”
Mo Fan said righteously, “This is not causing trouble. This is helping him build character.”
Gong Yu’s face turned even uglier. “Mo Fan, remember this!”
Mo Fan waved lazily. “I’ll remember that you admitted I’m stronger than you.”
Gong Yu stormed away, furious enough that the wooden deck almost cracked under his steps.
Zhao Manyan gave Mo Fan a thumbs up. “That was dirty.”
Mo Fan corrected him. “That was fair. Dirty would be asking him to say I’m more handsome too.”
Zhao Manyan thought about it seriously. “He might have died on the spot.”
Mu Ningxue stood at the side of the ship, quietly watching them. Her expression was still cold, but there was a faint helplessness in her eyes. After Feiniao City, she could no longer look at Mo Fan the same way.
He was still shameless.
Still loud.
Still impossible to control.
But the image of him killing the Scarlet Rending Demon with overwhelming force had not faded from her mind. Even Ai Jiangtu had been forced to acknowledge his strength. Gong Yu could dislike him all he wanted, but the gap between them had already been exposed.
Mo Fan noticed Mu Ningxue looking over and immediately grinned. “Xuexue, did you hear that? Even Gong Yu admitted I’m strong.”
Mu Ningxue replied flatly, “Being strong and being shameless are different things.”
Mo Fan nodded. “Luckily, I’m both.”
Mu Ningxue turned away, refusing to speak to him further.
Mo Fan laid back on the chair comfortably and hummed pleasantly.
The ship slowly moved deeper into the Pacific Ocean. Feiniao City disappeared behind them, and the endless blue stretched out in every direction.
The sea was calm at first. No humans, no sea monsters, no islands, all there was was water. Mo Fan had come from the mountains, so he was excited at the start, but after a while, the endless ocean became unbearably boring.
He played cards.
He cultivated.
He counted the value of his loot again.
Then he counted it again.
Commander level Soul Essence, around a hundred million. Commander corpse materials, another huge profit. Demon cores, proof materials, Lin Family favor, and the Celestial Phoenix Feather Robe. This trip had been ridiculously rewarding.
Still, money could not make the ship move faster.
“By the way, can’t you Water Magicians make the ship go faster?” suggested Mo Fan, who had run out of patience.
“It’s not difficult, but it’s tiring,” said Zhao Manyan.
“Just treat it as cultivation. How long is it going to take to reach Japan at this rate?” Mo Fan prodded them.
“We’ll have a go!”
The others agreed that the ship was too slow. Those with the Water Element took turns casting their spells, transforming the ship into a speedboat sprinting across the ocean like an arrow.
It felt great standing on the deck, watching the waves splitting in half as the water splashed on their faces.
Mo Fan stood at the front of the ship, the sea breeze blowing against his face. His eyes were fixed on the distant horizon.
Japan was going to be great.
It was the birthplace of countless precious seeds, countless resources, and countless chances to grow stronger.
Mo Fan’s lips slowly curled into a grin.
After all, wherever there were resources, there was profit. And wherever there was profit, he, Mo Fan, would definitely be there.
