Mo Fan at his best – Versatile Mage

Chapter 200: The enraging food

Most Deathstrike Magic Equipment was single use. Once summoned, it usually granted the mage one powerful attack before disappearing after its duration ended.

However, the claw gauntlet Gong Yu wore was different. It seemed to be a rare reusable type. Its effects complemented his Wind and Earth Elements perfectly, making his movements difficult to predict and allowing him to toy with Warrior level creatures as if they were fools.

With the claw gauntlet, Gong Yu could turn himself into an assassin hidden inside the gusts of wind. Relying on his speed, he slipped between the Scarlet Scale Sea Demons and delivered fatal strikes before they could properly respond.

The weapon was clearly rare. It was most likely one of the reasons Gong Yu had been chosen as a National Team candidate.

There were still risks when using it against demon creatures, but against ordinary mages, a Wind Mage like Gong Yu would be terrifying once he entered melee range.

This was Gong Yu’s first real display of strength before the team. He pretended to remain calm when he noticed his teammates looking in his direction, but the pride in his eyes was impossible to hide.

His style of using speed to slaughter demon creatures was indeed rare among mages.

“Lightning Bolt: Lightning Disaster!”

Just as Gong Yu was still indulging in his own performance, a voice carrying a trace of savagery came from not far away.

Purple black lightning crashed down before anyone could prepare. The flash was so blinding that several team members instinctively narrowed their eyes.

The lightning did not stop after striking the ground. Countless arcs spread rapidly across the rocks, weaving into a violent lightning web that caught three Scarlet Scale Sea Demons before they could react. The current surged back and forth between them, leaving scorched marks across their crimson bodies.

Mo Fan’s lightning did not end with one strike.

He raised his hand again, and another bolt of purple black lightning tore through the air. More lightning webs formed across the ground. The three Scarlet Scale Sea Demons tried to flee, only to be dragged back into repeated electric shocks.

“Stay there and enjoy it,” Mo Fan said.

Killing one monster at a time?

That did not suit him.

Gong Yu’s agile assassin style was flashy, but Mo Fan had always preferred the simplest method.

Blast them down.

Lightning Bolt: Wild Strikes was already deadly against weaker Warrior level creatures, but Lightning Bolt: Lightning Disaster was even more vicious. If the lightning focused on the same group of targets, it could cripple several Warrior level creatures almost instantly.

Mo Fan had been the one to provoke the Scarlet Scale Sea Demons out of hiding, so their hatred naturally focused on him. The three demons rushed him from different directions, but they had clearly chosen the wrong target.

Two rounds of Lightning Disaster left them half crippled. Before they could recover, Mo Fan followed up with even more lightning, pinning them to the ground until their limbs twitched uselessly.

“How violent,” Jiang Yu muttered nearby.

He had been preparing a Basic Light Spell, Brilliant Light: Blind, but suddenly felt too embarrassed to throw it out. Compared to Mo Fan’s brutal lightning, his spell looked more like a lantern.

“Fourth level Lightning Strike… what a rich bastard,” someone muttered.

Gong Yu’s unique combat style had surprised the others, but Mo Fan’s purple black lightning created a far stronger visual impact.

After all, Gong Yu had just killed one Scarlet Scale Sea Demon.

Mo Fan had almost finished three at once.

“Why run now that you’re already here?”

Mo Fan’s lightning did not stop. Countless lightning marks appeared across his arm. They were not as destructive as Lightning Disaster, but their paralyzing effect was much stronger.

He could cast a Basic spell with a casual lift of his hand. Lightning Strike spread outward in all directions, catching the Scarlet Scale Sea Demons just as they were about to escape the electric field.

A single fourth level Lightning Strike produced nearly a hundred lightning marks. These marks scattered across the three demons, each one struck by dozens of paralyzing arcs. Their bones had already been damaged by the previous Lightning Disaster, and now their bodies could no longer obey them.

They collapsed to the ground, unable to rise.

“Lightning Bolt: Exploding Apex!”

Mo Fan was direct. He gave each Scarlet Scale Sea Demon a single cast of Exploding Apex, the high damage single target form of the spell.

Three muffled explosions followed.

The demons groaned once, then died completely.

They had no chance to fight back.

In truth, they had been close enough to flank Mo Fan from three sides. Against most Advanced students, that would have been dangerous. Against Mo Fan, it only meant they had entered the perfect range for his lightning.

“Three gall bladders,” Mo Fan said casually as he collected them, though they were already scorched black. “These Scarlet Scale Sea Demons are weaker than I thought.”

They were not actually weak.

It only looked that way because Mo Fan’s lightning was too violent.

His fourth level Lightning spell was already beyond normal standards. If the damage had not been divided among three targets, a weaker Warrior level creature would have been killed instantly.

“Hmph. Trying that hard just to kill a few creatures,” Gong Yu said unpleasantly.

He had not even used an Intermediate spell yet, but seeing Mo Fan’s efficiency clearly agitated him. Without delay, he charged toward his second Scarlet Scale Sea Demon.

Unfortunately, this four meter tall Scarlet Scale Sea Demon was not as easy as the first. Its reactions were quicker, and its leaps were nimble. Gong Yu could not find the perfect moment to drive his claws into its body.

Gong Yu’s primary element was Wind, and his secondary element was Earth. Neither was purely offensive, yet his fighting style was aggressive because of the claw gauntlet on his right hand.

Seeing Mo Fan already moving to harvest more gall bladders, Gong Yu gave a nearby teammate a quick look, hoping someone would scatter the demons and stop Mo Fan from wiping them out in groups.

A few spells immediately knocked some of the Scarlet Scale Sea Demons farther away, denying Mo Fan the chance to catch them all in one lightning field.

Gong Yu’s idea was simple.

If they had to kill Warrior level creatures one by one, his speed would give him an advantage.

Mo Fan saw through the intention and found it amusing.

Trying to move the monsters out of his lightning range?

Lightning was efficient at mid range, but if they wanted to scatter the battlefield, he had plenty of other ways to reach them.

A fiery glow rose from his body.

“Rose Flame.”

“Fiery Fist.”

“Groundbreak.”

Mo Fan did not chase after the creatures.

He did not even bother avoiding the massive rock in his way.
