Chapter 189: Lunatic
Mo Fan said indifferently, “I’m not a bloodthirsty person, but even if I spare you… will you spare me?”
The moment those words fell, everyone recalled the trail of corpses stretching from the urban district of Magic City to this suburban town. Their expressions stiffened as they silently redefined what “not a bloodthirsty person” truly meant.
“Rest assured,” Lu Kun said solemnly, “we want nothing more than to stay far away from you. How could we possibly provoke you again? On behalf of the Lu Family, I vow that from now on, no member of the Lu Family will infringe upon you, your friends, or your family in any form.”
“As for witnesses, how about the lords present here?”
Mo Fan fell silent for a moment, his gaze shifting toward Ding Yumian, silently asking for her opinion.
Ding Yumian, gentle as ever, sent a voice transmission. “You’ve already shed too much blood for me. There’s no need to continue. Besides, my strength is improving quickly. In the future, they won’t be able to do anything to me.”
Mo Fan gave a faint nod.
“Fine,” he said calmly. “From now on, I have no ties whatsoever with the Lu Family. The same goes for my people.”
With that, the matter was settled.
Manye Town would be transferred under his control, marking the formal establishment of his own faction.
Though officially listed as the National Institute’s vice captain only because he had refused the captaincy himself everyone present knew that Mo Fan’s influence, strength, and backing placed him far beyond the title he carried.
On the surface, Lu Kun remained composed, but inside, he was overwhelmed with relief. He even deliberately let out a long sigh before leaving, hurrying back to report the outcome.
Dean Xiao, Tang Zhong, Leng Qing, and the others exchanged a few words with Mo Fan before departing.
Tang Zhong’s expression was especially complicated. His gaze moved repeatedly between Mo Fan, Tang Yue, and Ding Yumian before he finally let out a long sigh and turned away.
Dean Xiao said warmly, “Work hard. Try to make a name for yourself in the National Institute Battle.”
With that, the matter was considered resolved. What followed was the transfer of territory.
All the documents and procedures were tedious. With Mo Fan about to leave the country and having no interest in handling such trivial matters, he handed everything over to Ding Yumian, entrusting her to oversee the process.
He was already considering formally establishing her as the steward of Manye Town someone who could manage the territory and operate as a core pillar of his faction.
When Mo Fan called for her, he had initially assumed she wouldn’t be interested. After all, with her temperament, she didn’t seem like someone who would involve herself in such affairs.
To his surprise, Ding Yumian accepted calmly.
When she arrived at Manye Town, her usual gentle demeanor remained, but her eyes carried a rare hint of focus as she surveyed the territory.
Mo Fan glanced at her and smirked slightly. “Didn’t expect you to take this so seriously.”
Ding Yumian simply gave a soft look and said nothing.
After inspecting the area, she spoke in a composed tone, “This territory may be small, but its resources are quite rich. There’s a minor Elemental Diamond vein here, and the surrounding land is saturated with elemental energy. It’s suitable for cultivating high value magical resources.”
“If managed properly, combined with tax revenue, the annual return could reach several tens of billions.”
“Elemental Diamond?” Mo Fan’s eyes sharpened.
He immediately recalled what he knew.
In modern magic society, two resources formed the foundation of everything.
One was Elemental Magic Ore, used in city arrays and magic tools, the most common resource, like oil in the old world.
The other was Elemental Diamond far rarer, containing extremely pure energy, one of the few resources capable of directly restoring a mage’s mana.
Mo Fan’s gaze deepened slightly.
Since reaching his current state, his consumption had changed entirely.
With six elements and explosive casting, his mana could be drained within minutes in high intensity combat. Sustained battles were no longer about power alone, but endurance.
Elemental Diamonds…
Those were exactly what he needed.
“Good,” Mo Fan said decisively. “Bring me a sample immediately.”
Ding Yumian nodded and handled it without hesitation.
Soon, everything from the Lu Family vault was transferred under Mo Fan’s control.
The two of them quickly immersed themselves in reorganizing Manye Town.
—
Nearby, Mo Fan and Zhao Manyan glanced at the remaining group before casually turning away.
“Ahem, got some things to take care of,” Mo Fan said.
As they walked off, he muttered under his breath, “Got a woman helping out and suddenly I forget my brothers…”
Zhao Manyan rolled his eyes.
Back at the scene, Ding Yumian and Tang Yue both heard it.
The atmosphere instantly turned… subtle.
Mo Fan, realizing too late, cursed inwardly.
He had clearly stirred trouble for himself.
After his reckless “heroic rampage,” now standing between the two of them, even he didn’t know how to act.
Fortunately, neither Ding Yumian nor Tang Yue were ordinary.
They remained calm, exchanging only brief glances before standing naturally apart.
Ding Yumian spoke gently, “You’re about to leave for National Training. There’s no need to stay here. You should focus on what lies ahead.”
Tang Yue smiled faintly. “That’s right. No need to waste time here.”
Mo Fan immediately felt something was off.
Being between the two didn’t feel rewarding at all.
If anything… it felt like pressure.
Like standing between two silent forces.
—
The three wandered through the town briefly, while Mo Fan and Zhao Manyan secretly circled back, clearly intending to watch the situation unfold.
When they saw nothing happen, both of them looked disappointed.
“Damn it…” they muttered.
In the end, nothing happened between Mo Fan, Ding Yumian, and Tang Yue.
Even Mo Fan knew better than to push it in that situation.
—
Not long after, he boarded a military aircraft and departed for Imperial City.
The main National Team was just about to leave. He needed to catch up.
Feiniao City was a coastal metropolis between the Imperial Capital and Magic City.
In the future, it would become a frontline stronghold against the Ocean Demon Empire and eventually, a key base for the faction Mo Fan would establish.
—
As he departed, public opinion online erupted.
The footage had already spread.
Mo Fan’s massacre through Magic City’s streets had been recorded and uploaded everywhere.
“Who is this lunatic?! Killing in broad daylight?!”
“This is insane he needs to be investigated!”
“He should be executed immediately!”
But not everyone was ignorant.
Some people recognized him.
“Wait… isn’t that Mo Fan?”
“The vice captain of the National Team?!”
“What the hell happened?!”
