Chapter 131: The Twin elemental belles
Nan Jue felt a bit uncomfortable being scrutinized, but out of gratitude for them being rescued, she didn't flare up.
However, this scoundrel kept staring at her. What did he take her for? Just as Nan Jue was about to lose her temper, Mo Fan spoke, "You're welcome."
Rescuing Nan Jue and her group had never really been Mo Fan’s main goal. At most, it was something he did while clearing up trouble tied to Jiang Feng. But now, with a Commander-level spirit essence in hand, a sense of satisfaction settled in his chest that he didn’t bother hiding.
After a brief exchange, Mo Fan walked over to the corpse of the Three-Headed Serpent. Although the spirit essence had already been collected, the materials from its body were still valuable. He inspected it quickly, efficiently, stripping what he could. There were no particularly rare bones, but even so, the items he gathered would still fetch a decent price.
Nan Jue watched him for a moment before asking, “Are you a Hunter Mage?”
“Yes,” Mo Fan replied casually, not bothering to hide it. Aside from being a student, that identity had always been part of him.
“Are you here for the fire calamity fruit too?”
Mo Fan didn’t answer directly. Instead, he simply said, “It’s already gone. And with your strength, going any deeper would just get you killed.”
Nan Jue’s expression stiffened slightly, but the corpse of the Commander-level creature behind him made it impossible to argue.
After a short pause, she offered him a communication device before leaving. Mo Fan accepted it without much thought. Having an extra way out wasn’t a bad thing.
Once they parted ways, the mountain fell quiet again.
—
A month later.
Deep within the central region of Zhuo Yuan North Corner, Mo Fan stood atop a scorched stretch of land, surrounded by the remains of Fire Elementals. The battle had just ended, and the air still carried the lingering heat of destruction.
He exhaled slowly.
Finally done.
Using the elemental detector, he had located five Fire spirit seeds within this mountain range. Unfortunately, the area had been occupied by a tribe of Fire Elemental creatures. It had taken him an entire month of continuous fighting, ambushing, and clearing to finally take control of the area.
The creatures weren’t weak.
But none of them had reached Commander level.
That was their mistake.
Mo Fan began refining the spirit seeds immediately, drawing their energy into his Fire constellation. The power within him grew steadily, the flames becoming denser, heavier, more oppressive.
Not far from him, two small figures hovered.
One burned gently with fire, the other crackled faintly with lightning.
The Flame Belle floated lazily, gnawing on fragments of a spirit seed like a small, satisfied creature, completely at ease in the environment. Beside her, the Lightning Belle hovered more upright, her tiny body flickering with unstable arcs as she observed everything around her.
The two were nearly identical in form—
yet completely different in demeanor.
The Lightning Belle drifted slightly closer, releasing a small spark toward the Flame Belle, as if trying to provoke her. The Flame Belle barely reacted, only flicking a tiny flame in response before continuing what she was doing.
The Lightning Belle paused.
Then flickered again—
this time more insistently.
She circled once, as if declaring something silently.
Older.
Even if only by a moment.
The Flame Belle finally turned slightly, giving her a brief glance before ignoring her completely.
Mo Fan couldn’t help but smirk faintly.
“Already acting like the older sister…”
The Lightning Belle hovered proudly for a moment after that, her sparks stabilizing slightly, as if satisfied with herself.
Nearby, the Snow Frost Star Wolf lay calmly, its icy presence in stark contrast to the surrounding heat. Even in this environment, where the temperature would normally weaken a creature like it, the wolf remained completely unbothered. At most, it showed a slight irritation in its posture.
An ordinary ice-type wolf would have already been suppressed, its strength reduced significantly.
But this one—
was different.
Its Emperor-level bloodline ensured that no such environment could truly affect it. The heat pressed against it, but could not penetrate its core. It remained steady, untouchable, as if the environment itself had no authority over it.
After finishing the refinement, Mo Fan stood up, stretching slightly before scanning the area one last time. Satisfied there was nothing left, he turned and mounted the Snow Frost Star Wolf.
“Let’s move.”
The wolf rose immediately, its powerful frame cutting through the terrain with ease, its pace unaffected despite the hostile environment.
—
Four months later.
The ground trembled violently as Mo Fan rode across an open stretch of land, the Snow Frost Star Wolf sprinting at full speed beneath him.
Behind them—
a pack of Kill Armor Beasts chased relentlessly.
“Awoo—!”
“Yeah, yeah, I know! Just run!” Mo Fan snapped, gripping tighter as the wolf surged forward.
The situation was simple.
He had stolen something.
And they were furious.
Originally, Mo Fan had planned to avoid unnecessary trouble. But the moment the Lightning Belle sensed the Fire Elemental Diamond, everything changed. She had hovered around it, clearly drawn to it, her energy reacting instinctively.
The Flame Belle had also shown interest—
but far less urgently.
The Lightning Belle, however, circled it repeatedly, sparks flickering faster, almost impatient.
That alone was enough.
Mo Fan didn’t hesitate.
If she wanted it—
he’d take it.
Now they were paying the price.
The Snow Frost Star Wolf pushed itself harder, its body cutting through the terrain like a streak of white. Even under pursuit, its movements remained sharp and controlled, completely unaffected despite the harsh conditions that would normally slow down a beast of its nature.
Eventually, they broke into a mountainous region, finally shaking off the Kill Armor Beasts after a long chase.
Mo Fan slid off the wolf, scanning the surroundings carefully.
Then he immediately put it away.
“Stay quiet.”
The Lightning Belle flickered softly beside him, unusually obedient this time, her attention completely fixed on the Fire Elemental Diamond she had obtained. The Flame Belle floated nearby as well, occasionally glancing over, but clearly less obsessed.
Mo Fan narrowed his eyes slightly.
This area—
was different.
The aura here was heavier.
Stronger.
Either Commander-level creatures…
or organized Warrior packs.
He didn’t move recklessly.
Not this time.
