C56: The Threesome Talk
Kate's answer landed so casually that Travis stared at her for several seconds, wondering whether the ocean air had somehow interfered with his hearing.
"Wait, you actually remember that?" he asked as surprise slowly replaced the relaxed smile on his face.
Kate lifted her head from his chest and looked up at him with clear amusement. "It's hard to forget when someone starts talking about threesomes and foursomes in such a critical situation."
Travis blinked once as the memory returned with painful clarity. "In my defense, I had a massive piece of concrete crushing my back, iron rods stuck through my body, and enough blood loss to make every thought questionable."
"You were still remarkably specific," Kate replied as her fingers moved slowly across his shoulder. "You said only women would be involved, and you were too young to die."
Travis closed his eyes briefly and groaned. "I'd completely run out of jokes by that point. I was trying to keep you awake, and somehow my brain decided that discussing group activities was the best emergency medical procedure available."
Kate laughed softly as she rested her chin against his chest again. "You also asked whether I had any wild fetishes you should know about."
"I was conducting important relationship research under extreme pressure," Travis said with an expression that tried very hard to remain serious. "The timing might've been questionable, but the intention was surprisingly responsible."
Kate gave him a look that made it clear she didn't believe a single word. "You were bleeding all over me while trying to hold up a collapsing ceiling."
"And you stayed awake," Travis replied as he gently pulled her closer. "That means my ridiculous strategy technically worked."
Kate's smile softened as the humor gave way to the memory beneath it. She could still picture his face through the dust, strained with pain while he kept talking because silence meant she might close her eyes and never open them again.
"It did work," she admitted quietly. "I remember focusing on your voice because I didn't want you to stop talking. Even when you were saying completely wild things, hearing you meant you were still there with me."
Travis watched the change in her expression and brushed his thumb gently along her side. "I was terrified you'd stop responding. I kept throwing out anything that might annoy you enough to stay conscious."
"Still..." She continued. "I don't know why, but I've been thinking about it."
Travis narrowed his eyes slightly as curiosity returned. "When you say you've been thinking about it, are we talking about remembering my terrible jokes, or are we discussing something you might actually consider?"
Kate remained quiet long enough to make him wonder whether he had pushed too quickly. "I'm considering discussing it," she said carefully. "That's very different from agreeing to anything immediately."
Travis nodded without teasing her this time. "That sounds completely fair."
Kate studied him, apparently surprised that he hadn't made another joke. "You're suddenly being mature about this."
"I can be mature when the situation needs serious thought," Travis said. "It just doesn't happen often enough for people to see it."
She let out a soft laugh before leaning against him again. "I've never done anything like that before, and I still don't understand why the idea hasn't scared me away."
Travis watched her for a moment before a slow smile appeared on his face.
"Maybe somewhere inside your mind, you've always wanted to try it," he said as his hand moved gently along her back. "Or maybe you're just a little wild."
Kate slowly sat up and looked down at him, one eyebrow lifting with clear amusement. "You think I'm wild?"
"You tell me," Travis replied.
He caught her arm gently and pulled her closer until she was on top of him. Kate placed one hand against his chest while her hair fell around her face. Her boobs were pressing against his skin.
"What's the wildest thing you've always wanted to try?" he asked, watching her carefully.
Kate leaned down and slowly brushed her tongue across his lower lip before pulling back with a teasing smile. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
"Oh, I'd definitely love to know," Travis replied as his hands moved onto her butt cheeks. He gave them a nice squeeze.
Kate studied him for several seconds. The question sounded playful, though she could see real curiosity in his eyes. She ran her fingers lightly across his chest while deciding how much she wanted to admit.
"I've thought about trying something a little rougher," she said. "Nothing crazy, but maybe some playful spanking, a blindfold, cuffing, or letting one of us take control for a while."
Travis's eyebrows rose slightly. "You've given this more thought than I expected."
Kate narrowed her eyes. "You asked me for the truth."
"I'm definitely not complaining," he said as his fingers moved gently along her side. "Anything else?"
Kate hesitated, then leaned closer until her face rested only inches from his. "Sometimes I'd want you in control, but other times, I'd want to be the one giving orders."
Travis looked pleased by that answer. "You want to dominate me, huh?"
"Sometimes," Kate admitted with a confident smile. "I spend most of my life dealing with suspects, paperwork, and people who refuse to listen. It might be nice to have you follow instructions for once."
"That might be difficult," Travis replied. "I have a long history of ignoring instructions."
Kate pressed one finger lightly against his lips. "Then I'd have to make you understand them."
His eyes stayed on hers as the teasing slowly became more serious. "I'm looking forward to it."
Kate lowered her finger and raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," Travis answered. "We talk about what we're comfortable with, decide the limits, and choose a safe word that stops everything immediately."
Kate's expression softened slightly. "You've thought about that part too."
"I'm reckless around explosions," he said. "I'm not reckless with you."
The simple answer made her smile fade into something warmer. She leaned down and rested her forehead against his.
"I like that answer," she whispered.
"I have good answers every now and then," Travis replied.
Kate shook her head with a quiet laugh. "Don't ruin the moment."
"I'll try my best," he said, though his smile showed that he was already failing.
She kissed him before he could add another comment. Travis pulled her closer, returning the kiss.
When Kate pulled away, she kept her face close to his and spoke softly. "We'll start slowly."
Travis nodded while brushing a loose strand of hair away from her cheek. "You're in control."
"For now," Kate replied.
"That sounded dangerously confident."
"You called me wild," she reminded him. "It's time to find out how wild I can be."
Travis grinned and pulled her back into another kiss, and round 2 began...
Till late evening, they had sex, nonstop sex with a small water break.
...
[Later That Night]
By the time Kate and Travis finally left the villa, the sky had turned deep blue, while the last traces of orange light still rested above the ocean. They decided to leave the car behind and walk toward the beach club. The beach was close enough, and the warm night air felt too pleasant to waste inside a vehicle.
Travis wore a loose white shirt with dark shorts, while Kate had changed into a light red dress. Her hair remained loose around her shoulders, moving gently whenever the ocean breeze passed over them.
A narrow stone path carried them down from the cliffside villa toward the coast. Small lamps stood along both sides, lighting the tropical plants and trees surrounding the walkway. Music from the beach club grew louder with every step they took. People were going up and down the street. Everything looked peaceful and lively at the same time.
Kate walked close beside Travis, occasionally brushing her shoulder against his arm. After spending most of the afternoon inside the villa and near the pool, the quiet walk gave both of them time to breathe and enjoy the peaceful evening.
Travis looked toward the beach below. "This vacation was definitely a good idea."
Kate glanced at him while adjusting the strap of her purse. "You're only saying that because you've had a very enjoyable afternoon."
"Just me? Who was screaming, 'Put it back in, put it back in?'" He chuckled.
Kate laughed and bumped her shoulder lightly against his. "You're such an ass."
They continued walking for another minute before Kate's expression became more thoughtful. The conversation from earlier had remained inside her mind, and she knew avoiding it would only make everything more confusing later.
"So, this threesome thing," Kate began while looking ahead along the path. "Would it only be sex, or are you imagining something more serious, like a second relationship?"
Travis turned toward her, though he kept walking at the same relaxed pace. He could hear the genuine curiosity beneath her calm tone, so he gave the question proper thought before answering.
"I think a relationship would work better," Travis said. "Casual sex might feel exciting at first, but it could also become complicated very quickly. If all three people cared about each other and wanted the same thing, it might have a better chance of working. What do you think?"
Kate stayed quiet for several steps as she considered the idea. She had never imagined herself sharing a relationship with two people before meeting Travis. Even now, the thought felt unusual, though it did not seem impossible.
"It would definitely be a unique situation," Kate said as she looked toward him. "You, me, and another woman trying to build something together. Still, I think anything honest would be better than casual sex with no idea where things are going."
Travis gave a small nod. "That's pretty much what I was thinking."
Kate watched his expression for a moment, already having a strong suspicion about his answer. "By the way, do you already have someone in mind?"
A faint smile appeared on his face. "You already know who I'd choose."
Kate did not need much time to answer. "Lanie?"
Travis nodded once as they reached the bottom of the stone path and stepped onto the beachside road. "Yep."
Kate looked toward the ocean while thinking about her friend. Lanie had tried to hide her feelings, though Kate had seen the truth clearly during their conversation at the hospital. She remembered the sadness in Lanie's eyes and the way she had insisted that Travis and Kate deserved to be happy together.
"Well, she still loves you," Kate said. "She loved you even after things ended between you, and you've already heard why she couldn't accept a serious relationship back then."
Travis's expression softened slightly. "I understand why she was scared now. I wish she had trusted me enough to tell me earlier, though."
"She probably wishes the same thing," Kate replied. "Lanie spent years protecting herself by keeping people at a distance. By the time she realized she wanted more with you, she thought she had already lost her chance."
Travis looked ahead toward the lights of the beach club. "Maybe she hasn't lost it completely."
Kate gave him a small smile. "There might be a chance she'd agree to this three-way relationship. She already cares about you, and she's also my best friend. We trust each other, which could make things easier."
"It could also make things more complicated," Travis said carefully. "I don't want her feeling pressured because of our history or because she's close to you."
"Then we won't pressure her," Kate replied. "We'll explain what we're thinking and give her time to decide. If she doesn't want it, we accept that and move forward without making things uncomfortable."
Travis nodded in agreement. "That sounds fair."
Kate looked up at him with growing amusement. "The only remaining question is which one of us has to ask her."
Travis let out a quiet laugh because he had already expected that responsibility. "Since it was my idea in the first place, I'll talk to her. After that, you can speak with her privately, and we'll see where everything goes."
Kate lifted one eyebrow. "You realize that conversation could become extremely awkward."
"I've survived cartel interrogations, tunnel explosions, and hospital food," Travis replied. "I should be able to survive one difficult conversation with Lanie."
Kate smiled as she reached for his hand. "You say that now, but Lanie can be terrifying when she feels cornered."
"I'll bring coffee and approach carefully," Travis said. "That usually improves my chances of survival."
They had nearly reached the beach club when Travis stopped walking. Kate turned toward him, but before she could ask anything, he slipped one arm around her waist and pulled her gently against his side.
"But for now, let's just enjoy ourselves," he said while looking down at her. "We've got good food, cocktails, music, and an entire beach waiting for us."
Kate wrapped one arm around his waist and leaned comfortably against him. "Just one drink for you."
"Oh, c'mon."
"You're on meds."
"I'm invincible, remember?"
"I saw you take a pain med during our water break."
"Haaa... one hard drink, one soft?"
"Ummm... two soft."
"Fine."
They continued toward the beach club together.
