Kieran continued with a brief overview of the hospital, explaining the different departments they would rotate through and the responsibilities expected of them during the internship.

He made it clear that they were students first and interns second, which meant their academic work could not be neglected simply because they were working in a hospital.

"You will still attend your lectures as scheduled," he explained, his gaze moving across the five students. "Your internship hours will be arranged around your academic timetable, but that does not mean you can use your classes as an excuse to neglect your duties here. If you are assigned to a department, you show up. If you are given a task, you complete it. If you have a problem, you report it before it becomes one."

Yuki listened quietly, her pen moving across the notebook resting on her lap. She had expected the internship to be demanding, but hearing Kieran outline everything made her realise just how much work she had ahead of her.

Kieran eventually closed the file in his hand and rested it against his thigh. "Any questions?" he asked after the brief. His gaze swept over the room.

Marie was the first to raise her hand. Kieran nodded towards her. "Yes, Miss..."

"Lord Kieran," Marie began before stopping herself. She cleared her throat. "I mean, Doctor Ravencourt."

A faint smile touched Kieran’s mouth. "It’s fine. In this hospital, I’m a doctor, not an Alpha heir."

Yuki almost clicked her tongue. She settled for rolling her eyes instead. Kieran’s gaze immediately shifted towards her.

Yuki froze. For one brief second, their eyes met. The corner of his mouth twitched as though he had caught her reaction, but he said nothing.

He looked like a saint. Only if these people knew what Kieran and his brothers were actually like.

They would not be looking at him as though he had descended from heaven himself. "What is your question, Miss...?" Kieran asked, his gaze returning to Marie.

"Brown," she supplied quickly. "Marie Brown."

Kieran nodded, then Marie smiled warmly, joking as she spoke. "My family has a brown wolf lineage. Some people say we look more like bears because of our shorter snouts," she chimed.

A light laugh escaped Kieran. Yuki’s head snapped towards him. He really did have a sense of humour.

Marie cleared her throat when she noticed Yuki staring at him. "Anyway, my question is about our supervision. Since you and Dr Lancashire are assigned as our supervisors, does that mean we will be working directly under you, or will we be assigned to her?" she asked, her gaze locked on Kieran.

Kieran nodded as though it were a reasonable question. "You are all studying General Medicine and Surgery, which means you have not chosen a speciality yet. You will not be restricted to one mentor or one department. The purpose of this placement is to expose you to different areas of medicine so you can make an informed decision about where you want to specialise later," he explained briefly.

He glanced briefly at Dr Lancashire before continuing. "Dr Lancashire and I remain responsible for your overall supervision, however. You will report to us daily, and if you encounter a problem during your rotation, you come to one of us first. We will also be responsible for submitting your final evaluations."

The room went quiet. One of the boys slowly raised his hand.

Kieran looked at him. "Yes?" he nodded at the boy, acknowledging him.

"Wait. We’re being graded for this?" the boy nervously blurted. This was a zero-unit course. Why were they being graded?

A few students exchanged confused looks with each other. Kieran’s expression remained calm. "Yes," he said firmly.

The boy lowered his hand. "We didn’t know that," he replied, confusion written all over his face.

"That is because the structure of the course has changed." Kieran answered, leaning back slightly in his chair. "Previously, the clinical placement was a zero-unit course. It was mandatory, but the grade did not affect your CGPA, so most students only did enough to pass."

Yuki’s eyebrows rose. That explained why everyone seemed so surprised. "The curriculum was revised during the last medical education convention," Kieran continued. "The placement now carries six units."

Silence.

Complete and utter silence. Yuki’s pen slipped slightly between her fingers.

Six units?

Her eyes widened. Across the table, Marie’s jaw dropped. Gareth looked like someone had just informed him that his entire academic career was hanging from a thread.

One of the boys finally found his voice. "Six?" he whispered, completely dumbfounded.

Kieran nodded. "Six units," he repeated calmly.

A groan came from across the table. "You have got to be kidding me," Gareth hissed.

Kieran’s eyebrow lifted, and Gareth immediately straightened. "Sorry, Doctor," he quickly apologised.

A few of them laughed nervously. Yuki stared down at her notebook. Six units. That was enough to destroy a CGPA if she performed badly. Kieran seemed completely unfazed by the horror spreading across their faces.

"On the positive side, you have all been selected for this placement because of your academic performance," he pointed out. "If you listen to instructions, take the work seriously and actually learn something during your rotations, there is no reason any of you should not earn an A."

The students looked at one another. The boy who had complained earlier slowly raised his hand again.

Kieran sighed. "What?" he said with an arched brow.

"Is there a negative side?" the boy’s voice was barely a whisper, but loud enough for werewolves to hear.

A few students snorted. Kieran stared at him with his piercing sapphire eyes, and the boy immediately lowered his hand, unable to withstand the Alpha pressure like a scared kitten. Yuki bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from smiling.

"Are there any other questions?" Kieran asked. No one said a thing. Yuki was still processing how she was going to survive working under Kieran when he had the ability to affect her grades.

Having one Ravencourt with the influence to affect her grades and chances of graduation was enough, and now this had happened. She was barely surviving Kaden. What was going to happen next? Was Killian going to be invited as a guest lecturer?
