Chapter 304. Ambush
The group from Hua Village waited, while along the necessary path out of town, another group was waiting for them, preparing for the arrival of these fat sheep.
They sat for a whole afternoon, casually ate some vegetable buns, and everyone took turns to sleep for a while, except for those on watch, until dusk deepened, and everyone was refreshed.
Then... finally came the village chief’s voice they’d been anticipating, and they each shouldered a large basket, following Hua Jing, who led the way as they quickly navigated through the town’s small paths.
After this journey, everyone became increasingly convinced of Hua Jing’s guiding skills. Though they took a slight detour, they didn’t encounter a single soul and avoided much unnecessary trouble. Everyone walked swiftly.
Unknowingly, they left the town, disappearing into the night.
However, everyone became even more alert; it was already unsafe to carry so many things during the day, and it was even less safe at night. As they moved, everyone tensed up, paying close attention to everything around them and quickening their pace.
Occasionally, they could vaguely see a few shadows on the road, but upon spotting them, they always deliberately avoided them.
In this way, they smoothly traversed nearly half the journey. Though everyone’s mood started to ease up a bit, their pace hardly slowed.
"Bai Niu, did you see clearly? Were those people passing through this route?" a sturdy man with a dark face full of whiskers squinted dangerously at a timid man standing before him.
"Boss... boss, no mistake, it’s definitely this route, Gang Zi was there too."
Under the boss’s chilling gaze, Gang Zi quickly nodded, fearing if he hesitated, the boss would vent his anger on him as well.
"Where are they?" Having waited for several hours, the bearded man was already getting irritable. They’d been keeping their stomachs empty just to avoid missing those fat sheep.
