"Chengtian, why did you come out to meet us in such cold weather?" Upon seeing her younger brother, Hua Dajie hurried to help him brush the snow off his straw raincoat, not caring that she was already covered in snow herself.

Hua Dajie touched her brother’s hands. Although the surface was cold, there was warmth inside, which reassured her.
"Next time, don’t come to meet us. It’s too cold, and we can walk there ourselves," Hua Dajie said.
"Sis, it’s really not cold. You’ve forgotten how warm my cotton coat is," Hua Chengtian reminded his sister.
After Jin’er made quilts and cotton-padded clothes out of the cotton, how could she forget her two sisters’ families? Knowing Jin’er still had plenty, she sent fifty pounds each to the two sisters, enough for their families to make cotton clothes, and of course, reminded them not to tell anyone.
Hua Dajie really did forget. Upon seeing her brother, she only thought about the cold outside, thinking they had to walk over anyway, so why bother having her brother come to meet them?
"Chengtian, speaking of which, brother-in-law has to thank you," said the father of the children beside her before Hua Dajie could open her mouth.
"The cotton you sent was simply fantastic. This year, our family almost didn’t feel cold at all; much better than previous years. Brother-in-law really thanks you for always thinking of us."
"Brother-in-law, what are you saying? As long as my sister is well, and I’m her brother and uncle, naturally, I’ll think of you when I have good things."
