Chapter 65. Confession
"Tell me, what’s going on? How did you encounter a wild boar on the mountain, and was it really you who killed it?" Hua Laohan’s sharp eyes fixed on his son. The previous explanations might fool the villagers, but he didn’t believe them.
Hua Chengtian didn’t speak, knowing that even if he tried to explain, he couldn’t fool his father. After all, he was the only son in the family, how could a father not understand him, just as he understood his sons.
He also didn’t know how to explain, still bewildered about his daughter’s sudden disappearance and reappearance.
Hua Chengtian couldn’t help but glance at his daughter.
Just that one glance told Hua Laohan there was something up, and it had to do with his granddaughter.
The subtle exchange between her father and grandfather did not escape Hua Jin’s notice. Since she was already exposed in front of her father, it didn’t matter if her grandfather knew as well, especially since his love for her was no less than her father’s.
She promptly looked at her obedient brother sitting beside her. "Xiao Si, did brother assign you a task to complete?"
Too sudden. Xiao Si was caught off guard, bewildered by his sister’s shift in conversation to him, and especially about him completing his homework. His face immediately fell. "Sis... can’t I..."
"No, hurry up and write it. Big brother asked me to keep an eye on you, but if you finish in an hour, I’ll give you a treat," Hua Jin added another incentive.
"Really?" With the promise of food, Xiao Si instantly perked up, standing abruptly with bright eyes looking at his sister.
