"Papa! You’re still behind by far! Come along, I’m hungry!" Tamiko shouted happily and the palace came to a standstill.
Hell, even those who had been scared of him, those who worried for his sanity, and those who had watched him lose his spark the entire week and through the day were shocked.
This was not possible and they knew it too. This was nothing close to the reality the kid had been living in barely hours ago. He had been visibly devastated and had spent days crying his heart out.
He had been the poster kid for depression. Hell, it was impossible that this was what they were seeing. Something had gone very wrong, and as the king walked out of Chief Konstanin’s room to go after his son, he knew what everyone was thinking.
Oh, how he hoped he was wrong.
"Slow down, Kaito. You’ll get hurt!" King Zaffuto forced out as he watched his son get all giggly and shit.
He looked happier than ever, and it was sickening to the core. The entire kingdom had prayed for a day like this to come, for the spark inside the kid to come back to life, but this wasn’t it.
There was an emptiness in the eyes that screamed for help. A sadness that had been forced down like it was too much and needed to be forgotten. There was a cry for help beneath all the light laughter and Zaffuto felt his knees go weak at the realization.
