Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 392 - 390: Will the Island Be Hollowed Out?

She swam straight down into the sea, but by the time she reached the bottom of the raft’s protective barrier, the black seawater was still nowhere in sight. It was receding very quickly.

Faye Yardley, worried she would never catch it if she kept descending, grew impatient and sped up.

Her speed made it hard for Lucy White and Cole Kensington to keep up. A glint in his eye, Cole Kensington said, "Lucy White, I’m going on ahead."

As he spoke, he activated his Shadow Melt ability and vanished in an instant.

Frustrated, Lucy White slapped the seawater beside her, but she held her breath and continued the descent.

Soon, a black shadow shot past her, heading down.

’So frustrating! Why is everyone stronger than me?’

Faye Yardley had lost track of how deep she was. ’How could the black seawater and all the strange fish have vanished completely?’

However, she didn’t give up, continuing to descend ever deeper.

The strange fish she’d saved up could only be converted into absorbable energy within that black seawater.

Besides, that amount was nowhere near enough for Bramble to rebuild itself.

Fortunately, after more than an hour, Faye Yardley, with Bramble in tow, finally caught up to the still-sinking black seawater. Spotting the red eyes that occasionally surfaced from the inky depths, Faye Yardley couldn’t contain her excitement.

"Come on, time for a feast."

While Faye Yardley and her companions were braving the cold and death in the deep sea, killing strange fish to help Bramble recover, the people on other rafts at the surface were busy with their own efforts.

First, they had to widen the ice holes previously used to lure the strange fish, making it easier to fish for both fish and treasure chests.

After a week with no other income, some people on rafts without the ability to produce their own food were already in dire straits.

After all, not every raft had cultivation rooms and breeding rooms.

Usually, a raft would only have a few planting pots.

In more extreme cases, a raft might not even have planting pots, relying entirely on fishing up chests and trading.

Everyone had their own way of surviving.

[If you still have some of those dark strange fish, you can just light them on fire on the ice surface. The ice will melt really fast.]

[That’s so wasteful! You can just chisel the ice. It’s slower, but with enough people, it’s not a problem.]

[It’s so cold! Can anyone spare a padded jacket? I’m freezing to death.]

[Is the person above me joking? After all this time, you still don’t have warm clothes?]

[What the hell do you know? I traded away everything I had to repair my raft.]

[That’s rough. But I don’t have a spare jacket to give you either.]

[You bunch of morons, if you can’t handle it, just go into a Dungeon! The system protects your raft, and there’s no ice and snow like this inside.]

[You say that like you’re handing out free Dungeon Invitation Cards.]

[Island Master Langdon, when will you need more people for mining? I want to go mine!]

[Logan Langdon: During this current period of peace, anyone willing to come to the island to mine can sign up directly through the system. I’ll be sending out island entry confirmations randomly.]

Logan Langdon’s post instantly sent the entire national channel into an uproar again, only this time, no one was trying to stir up trouble by comparing and belittling others.

Even the few who had been blacklisted by the three Island Masters, resentful and eager to vent their frustrations, were harshly warned by those around them.

Eleanor Jonas watched the messages on the national channel with a deep frown, then sent a message directly to Jay Jonas and Zachary Pierce.

A moment later, still feeling uneasy, she called her cousin directly. "Jay, what on earth does Logan Langdon need so many miners for? Isn’t he worried he’ll hollow out the entire island? There are so many people on it. What’ll happen if the island is mined away?"

Jay Jonas rubbed the bridge of his nose. "That’s beyond our control. That spider Egg Ore on his island can be used to raise animals, and they say if the opportunity is right, it can even produce so-called Spirit Beasts. We aren’t entirely sure about Logan Langdon’s own progress, only that he already has two rather intelligent creatures. As for your worries, we’ve warned him about them before, but he’s very confident."

"Hmph. Blind confidence is not a good thing. Logan Langdon is surrounded by Otherkin. I’m starting to wonder if he can even be considered one of the Commonfolk anymore."

"Eleanor, don’t talk nonsense."

"I know, I know. It’s not like I’d say this to anyone else. In that case, I’ll go ask Kyle Lewis."

Eleanor Jonas hung up as soon as she said it and immediately went to ask Kyle Lewis. After all, his mother was a fairly important Steward on Logan Langdon’s island. Surely some information would leak out, right?

Meanwhile, Faye Yardley was on a killing spree deep beneath the sea.

Bramble was also gradually recovering.

The human and the plant killed so frenziedly that even the mindless black strange fish dared not approach them, and the black seawater receded further and further.

The faster it receded, the faster Faye Yardley killed.

She had no choice. The black seawater was about to vanish completely; of course she was in a hurry.

After all, while Bramble had recovered somewhat, it was truly just a little.

Its once-lush thorny branches could encircle the entire raft, but now they were only arm-high. The difference was immense.

If she missed this chance, who knew when she’d get another opportunity to nurture it back to full size.

Cole Kensington, combining his ability with the Water-Repelling Pearl, killed just as many as Faye Yardley, if not more.

Blackwood was here to eat the strange fish for itself. Once, she saw Blackwood with a strange fish in its mouth; despite the fish’s long body, it was swallowed in just two or three bites.

Faye Yardley didn’t even have time to be curious; it was a race against time at the bottom of the sea.

She had no sense of how much time had passed.

In the end, only a single word remained in her mind: kill.

The continuous, high-intensity slaughter also allowed Faye Yardley to fully master the Strength she had previously gained, making her even more lethal.

Eventually, her feet touched the ground.

There were sand and reefs on the seabed. The black seawater and the strange fish had completely retreated, leaving not a single trace behind.

By now, Bramble had grown to the size of Lucy White.

Bramble suddenly took root on the seabed. Faye Yardley was confused. "You want to stay here on the ocean floor?"

The thorny branches swayed back and forth. Faye Yardley said thoughtfully, "Alright, but not for too long. If the raft moves on, I’m afraid I won’t be able to find you."

A thorny branch wrapped around Faye Yardley’s wrist and pulled her to a stop.

Hm?

Faye Yardley let Bramble pull her toward a few reefs. She then crouched down and used her Luminous Pearl to carefully illuminate the cracks between them.

’Whoa, what a big eye.’

Faye Yardley grabbed a long tentacle and gave it a sharp tug. The tentacle snapped, but the creature inside wasn’t pulled out; instead, it retreated even deeper.

However, its retreat allowed Faye Yardley to see a flash of silver-white inside.

’Holy cow, there’s a Silver Treasure Chest in there!’

She immediately drew Light Wound and hacked away at the reef, which quickly crumbled into rubble.

The baby-sized prawn was taken care of by Cole Kensington.

Faye Yardley easily collected the Silver Treasure Chest and patted the small leaves on top of Bramble. "Bramble, you’re the best!"
