Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 253: Meeting the People of the Isle of Damnation Again

"There are restrictions. You have to be the founder of a team to qualify. If my mom wanted to use it herself, she would have had to start her own mercenary group first. She said she used to manage a company and is tired of managing people now. Back then, as long as you had money, management was easy. Now, relying on just her and my martial prowess, it’s hard to say who would end up managing whom."

Kyle Lewis had just sold his mother out completely.

As he finished speaking, Logan Langdon came into view.

Faye Yardley asked directly, "Has your mom not considered Mr. Pierce and his team? They’re more trustworthy, aren’t they?"

Logan Langdon and Leah Chandler stepped onto the pier, one after the other. Kyle Lewis gave Faye Yardley a wry smile, a clear sign there were other reasons at play.

The moment he stepped onto the pier, Logan Langdon felt the gravitational pressure, but he remained cool and composed. With a smile, he greeted them, "Hello, Master. You must be Henry Lewis’s master, I presume? A pleasure to meet you." Logan then turned to Faye Yardley. "Gorgeous Yardley, we meet again. Kyle, hey."

Faye Yardley offered a faint smile. "Now that you’re here, let’s get going."

Leah Chandler breathed a sigh of relief seeing that they all knew one another. She also wanted to take this chance to see for herself if Logan Langdon was a trustworthy person.

When Logan Langdon was invited, Cole Kensington had been carrying Zephyr Sterling to the pavilion behind the raft house to rest. As a result, Logan hadn’t seen them and was unaware that he was a substitute.

"Should we head straight for the village we visited last time?" Leah Chandler felt that walking was even more exhausting now than it had been on her previous visit.

’Does the pressure you bear increase along with your strength?’

’Then how come Faye Yardley and the others look so relaxed?’

’Besides, last time Faye Yardley had to carry her all the way back.’

’By that logic, the pressure Faye Yardley herself was under must be immense, while she, on the other hand...’

Twenty-five days had passed since their last visit, and any trace of their previous path was now completely gone.

Faye Yardley pulled out the map she had recorded last time, but the path on it seemed completely different from the one they were on now. ’Did the pier move?’

The village’s location hadn’t changed, though, so Faye Yardley started hacking through the weeds and bushes, pushing forward as quickly as she could in that direction.

Hacking through was essential; no one knew what might be lurking in the dense undergrowth.

"Watch out!" As the Master spoke, he flung out an explosive talisman. With a BANG, a bloody mist erupted, sending flesh flying, followed by a rustling sound.

Red rats of all sizes appeared before them, intermingled with snakes of various sizes and colors.

Kyle Lewis couldn’t help but step back. "A literal nest of snakes and rats?!"

Logan Langdon also drew his weapon and began to attack. Though the creatures were numerous, they weren’t very strong.

But hidden among the snakes and rats were small black bugs that would suddenly fly up and bite, causing an itchy, painful sting that also had a slight paralyzing effect.

Faye Yardley wasn’t bitten once; not a single one of the little black bugs even flew toward her.

After a moment’s thought, Faye Yardley gave each of them one of the "ordinary" flowers from her Bramble.

Just as she’d expected, their spirits recovered significantly, and the little black bugs were no longer interested in biting them.

Logan Langdon was even tempted to ask if she had any more of the flowers and if she was willing to sell them.

"Let’s move, quickly." After tossing out three explosive talismans, Silas threw down a Fire Talisman, setting the shredded flesh and nearby plants ablaze.

Faye Yardley ran to the front. "Keep up with me."

She wasn’t sure if it was her Demon Resistance, but whatever the reason, typical negative status effects didn’t seem to affect her.

The animals and insects also seemed to avoid her.

Master Veridian brought up the rear, not forgetting to give Kyle Lewis a helping hand.

Kyle Lewis was mortified. He had thought that with his improved strength, this trip would be easy, but he was still as useless as ever.

After a journey of starts and stops, fighting their way through, they finally arrived in human territory. A large expanse of farmland opened up before them.

The people toiling in the fields saw them emerge from the undergrowth and nervously stopped what they were doing, rising to their feet.

The large tree that had been by the ridge of the field was still there, but the fields themselves were much larger than they’d seen before.

The Exorcism Wind Chime still hung from the tree, tinkling crisply whenever the wind blew.

Once he got a clear look at Faye Yardley’s group, Reggie recognized them. His voice was thick with an uncontainable excitement. "Divine Envoy, you’ve returned! This is wonderful, truly wonderful!"

At the mention of the Divine Envoy, the other villagers grew excited as well.

As the two groups met, Faye Yardley glanced at the tree, prompting Reggie to say at once, "Divine Envoy, you’re not... planning to cut our Divine Tree again, are you?"

"I am. But I can trade you for it. I won’t take much, and I won’t harm its core. Didn’t I feed it Blood Replenishing Pills last time? The results were excellent."

Reggie: ...

Even the young man who had tried to stop her before was at a loss for words. She hadn’t harmed the Divine Tree’s foundation last time, and in fact, everything seemed better than it was before her visit.

The other villagers exchanged glances, then all looked to Reggie.

Logan Langdon had no idea what was so special about the tree and said nothing, but only he knew what he was already plotting in his mind.

This time, Faye Yardley again only took two water bottles’ worth of the Deep Crimson Tree Sap. She then pressed two Blood Replenishing Pills into the cut on the tree, and after a moment’s thought, added a thorn flower. In that instant, everyone could feel the great tree’s delight.

"The seeds you gave us last time really grew, Divine Envoy, and they weren’t contaminated! This time... did you bring more seeds?"

Faye Yardley nodded with a smile. "I do. I imagine more people will be willing to trade with us this time."

"But of course, of course. Please, come into the village."

Logan Langdon quietly asked Leah Chandler, "Miss Leah, what was that tree sap just now used for? Can you get good things here?"

Leah Chandler shook her head. "I’m not sure about the sap; I didn’t get any last time. But there are a lot of good things here. My son and I both traded for our Martial Arts Skills here."

"So, do you know what they need the most here?"

"Energy Stones, probably. Besides that, the dolls we got from that one event were also really popular."

A cryptic smile played on Logan Langdon’s lips. "Thanks, Miss Leah. Once we’re in the village, I’ll need you to show me the ropes."

Faye Yardley overheard their conversation, but she doubted there was anything here worth her Energy Stones. Of course, if something truly tempting appeared, she wouldn’t be against joining the scramble for it.

As they reached the edge of the village, Faye Yardley once again sensed a difference. "Your village has changed a lot."

"Yes, and it’s thanks to your help last time, Divine Envoy."

They entered the village together, and this time the villagers’ attitude was much more enthusiastic than before.

"Why is everyone running back home? Are we that scary?" Logan Langdon asked, confused.

Reggie chuckled. "They’re all rushing home to get their goods. Especially the ones who missed out last time. They’re not about to make that mistake again."
