Chapter 302 - 301: The birds hunt on the base 3
Just as Luciel was looking outside, he saw that some birds had started attacking the villa.
The birds were intelligent, so when they saw Treyton and the others leave the villa, they must have realized there were still people inside.
Wes immediately led half of the people remaining in the villa to defend against the birds trying to break in.
The attackers were a mix of half-meter-sized birds and some smaller ones.
Since the birds could fly, the defenders started shooting at them as soon as they got close enough. The bullets hit, but they didn’t do as much damage as expected.
The birds’ feathers had gotten thicker—stronger—so it took a bunch of shots to bring even one of them down, especially the bigger ones.
Grant, Aldo, and a few others focused on shooting from the ground, while Wes handled the ones that got too close. He used his earth ability, pulling up chunks of dirt and stone from the garden to knock birds out of the air.
When the birds hit the ground, the others rushed in and finished them off with glaives or swords before they could get back up.
There were still a lot of birds flying around, and the group wasn’t able to take them down that quickly. It took time to kill each one—especially the bigger ones—so their progress was slow.
To make things worse, everyone was starting to get tired. They’d been moving constantly, without any time to rest.
