Chapter 117: Success
Long Ming, in agony, pressed his hands to the ground, trying to stand, but felt as if his entire body was no longer under his control.
An intense chill erupted from his blood, instantly sweeping through his entire body.
"So cold, so cold!"
He felt as if his heart was about to freeze solid.
Meanwhile, Luoxue wasn’t faring much better.
She was down on one knee, frost coating her face and her eyes shut tight. Blue markings surfaced all over her body.
"Are... are you sure... we can get through this?"
Long Ming asked, his lips trembling.
"When your body can no longer hold out, your will must take over."
The moment she finished speaking, Luoxue’s eyes snapped open, erupting with blue light. A powerful, cold aura radiated from her as she slowly rose to her feet.
"..."
Long Ming was speechless when he saw this. ’She actually did it.’
Luoxue walked over to Long Ming and said coldly.
"Get up. I know you’re not this weak."
"..."
At this point, Long Ming didn’t even have the strength to make a sarcastic comment.
He took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes. Gradually, he relaxed his entire body, no longer trying to brute-force his way through the pain.
The next moment, he found himself in what felt like a vast, boundless world of white.
...
Swarms of monsters surged forward.
Jing Chuan and the others laid down continuous suppressing fire, tossing out one grenade after another.
BOOM~
Massive explosions erupted continuously, but the monsters kept coming in an endless tide.
"This is bad! There are too many of them! We can’t hold them off if this keeps up."
Jing Chuan shouted in desperation.
Hearing Jing Chuan, Luoxue’s pale lips twitched. She exhaled a frosty breath and said to him and the others,
"Jing Chuan, hold this position."
"Yes!"
Jing Chuan snapped to attention and immediately responded.
Luoxue’s expression hardened as a terrifyingly cold aura burst from her. She rushed to the railing and vaulted over, deftly catching the edge of the fifth basement level before dropping onto the platform below.
THUD~
Luoxue landed hard amidst the monsters, the impact sending them flying.
Ailo raised its head and looked at Luoxue.
Luoxue slowly stood up, and their eyes met.
"ROAR."
Ailo let out a furious roar.
The ice-people, once residents, charged straight for Luoxue.
Luoxue’s expression turned frigid. Cold energy gathered around her right arm, forming a long, slender ice blade, which she swept at the oncoming monsters.
A flash of cold light!
CRACK!
The charging ice-people were decapitated, their bodies toppling one after another.
Ailo, now like a rampaging Fierce Beast, stomped hard on the ground.
CRACK!
It leaped into the air toward Luoxue, bringing its right fist down in a vicious smash.
Luoxue sidestepped with incredible speed.
BAM~
Ailo’s fist smashed into the ground.
CRACK!
A massive dent appeared in the thick metal floor, instantly coated in a layer of frost.
Luoxue lunged at Ailo, fingers straight, and slashed with her ice blade.
SLICE!
A five-centimeter gash was torn into Ailo’s body.
It glanced at the wound, then raised its left hand into a fist and swung it through the air at Luoxue.
Luoxue pushed off the ground with her toes, dodging the attack with a backflip and creating distance between them.
Ailo let out a furious roar as a terrifyingly cold aura emanated from its body. It snatched two of the severed heads from the ground.
Cold energy from its hands condensed them into two ice balls.
Ailo hurled them at Luoxue one after the other.
Luoxue quickly sidestepped, dodging the first ice ball.
But the instant she landed, the second one was already upon her.
With no time to dodge, Luoxue could only cross her arms to block.
BANG!
The ice ball exploded on impact, sending sharp fragments flying everywhere.
Luoxue’s hands were torn open, and two shards pierced her body, causing her to stagger back several steps.
"Hmph!"
Ailo seized the opportunity and charged forward with rabid fury.
Luoxue neither panicked nor dodged. Her pupils constricted as the Power in her body erupted, rapidly healing her right hand. Then she charged forward at incredible speed.
They shot past each other.
SLICE!
Ailo’s torso was slashed, sending ice fragments flying.
Luoxue let out a faint breath and turned to face Ailo.
But what she saw next plunged her into despair.
Frost rapidly sealed the gash on Ailo’s body, and in the blink of an eye, it was completely healed.
Luoxue’s expression grew even colder at the sight.
Then, she noticed something on Ailo’s chest—the faint outline of a beating heart. A cold glint flashed in her eyes, and she immediately began circling the monster at high speed.
Ailo whipped its head back and forth, trying to track her.
But Luoxue was moving too fast; Ailo couldn’t even catch a glimpse of her.
While moving at high speed, Luoxue steadily closed the distance between herself and Ailo.
Ailo instinctively sensed danger. It roared, freezing the ground all around it, then raised both hands and slammed them down hard.
BAM~
The frozen ground exploded, sending a spray of ice spikes in all directions.
Luoxue dodged nimbly.
SHIICK!
A sharp ice spike grazed her cheek, drawing a line of blood.
Luoxue’s eyes hardened, and she charged straight at Ailo.
Ailo raised its right fist and swung it at Luoxue, the punch whistling through the air.
Luoxue swerved to dodge the fist and thrust her ice blade straight for Ailo’s heart.
Just as the blade was about to pierce Ailo’s heart...
CRACK!
Ailo’s left hand shot out and clamped down on the blade.
Luoxue’s expression faltered.
Ailo aimed a vicious kick at Luoxue.
Luoxue instinctively raised her left arm to block!
CRACK!
She was sent flying like a cannonball, slamming hard into the railing and nearly plummeting over the edge.
Seeing Luoxue dangling by one hand, Jing Chuan’s face paled as he yelled.
"Oh no! Luoxue’s hurt! She’s getting overwhelmed by that thing!"
"Then what do we do?"
Zhihan asked, flustered.
Just as everyone was panicking, a terrifyingly cold aura washed over them from behind.
Startled, Jing Chuan and the others whipped their heads around.
They saw Long Ming’s eyes snap open as he slowly rose to his feet.
His body was covered in dense blue markings, and he radiated a terrifyingly cold aura. His eyes had become ice-blue, making him look like a monster himself.
"Holy crap, he did it too,"
Jing Chuan and the others exclaimed in shock.
Long Ming shrugged off his Black Shadow automatic rifle and backpack, handing them to Cloud Fish.
Cloud Fish froze for a second before taking them.
Then, Long Ming sprinted straight to the railing and leaped over the edge.
「Fifth Basement Level.」
Ailo stalked toward Luoxue, step by step.
Luoxue wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, preparing to launch herself back into the fight.
Just then, a figure dropped down beside her, extending a hand.
"Sorry I’m late."
"It’s fine."
A flicker in her eyes, Luoxue took his hand and let him pull her up.
Seeing Long Ming arrive, Ailo instinctively sensed danger. It spoke in a hoarse, grating voice.
"Who are you?"
Long Ming and Luoxue were stunned. The creature could actually speak, and it seemed willing to communicate.
This was the first time they had ever encountered anything like this. In all their previous game instances, there had never been any surviving natives.
