Chapter 24: Ye Zhun in Trouble
That night, Ye Yan still returned to her apartment at Grand Hall.
Though the flat had only one bedroom and one sitting room, and she could not see the Ruins of St. Paul from the window, and although it was an hour's drive from the hospital, its value lay in its freedom and comfort.
To her, Yuqiao, however splendid, was more like a cage made of gold threads—it was not home.
Ye Yan put the clothes that Fu Xingzhou had worn into the washing machine.
After taking a bath, she sat in front of the computer to write research material. Medical English was mostly obscure and difficult to understand, and Ye Yan wrote with utmost care, fearing grammatical errors.
By the time she finished the last letter, it was almost midnight. Thinking of the surgery scheduled for the next day, she finally turned off the computer.
Picking up her phone, she remembered having sent a message to Fu Xingzhou earlier. Opening the chat box, the last visible message was still hers.
Fu Xingzhou hadn't replied.
She probably thought it was an unimportant detail, or perhaps, the result was already expected by him.
Or maybe, he was busy with his business inland, his phone always with his bodyguard.
Ye Yan didn't realize that, in just a few seconds, she had already made several excuses for Fu Xingzhou.
