Manchester United Revival

Chapter 170: 106 Coronation

The final whistle echoed into the warm May afternoon, bringing the 2022/23 Premier League season to an official, historic conclusion.

For one brief moment, a quiet reverence seemed to settle over the stadium as the three sharp blasts of the whistle registered. Then, seventy-five thousand voices erupted together.

The stands transformed into a chaotic wall of sound and color. Thousands of fans leaped into the air, hurling red, white, and black scarves toward the sky. In the aisles, strangers embraced tightly, laughing and shouting over the din. Older supporters stood frozen near their seats, tears tracking down weathered cheeks, while younger fans screamed toward the pitch, raising smartphones to record the scene.

High above the pitch, the giant digital scoreboard updated its display.

MANCHESTER UNITED 4 – 0 FULHAM

A second later, the screen shifted to illuminate the historical context in bold gold lettering.

MANCHESTER UNITED — PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

38 MATCHES — 106 POINTS — UNDEFEATED

Down on the grass, having wrapped up a historic individual league campaign with two first-half goals—taking his Premier League total to forty-two, and sixty-two across all competitions—Cristiano Ronaldo stood near the dugout with a wide smile. He embraced Diogo Dalot. The two Portuguese players laughed, spinning each other around before Donny Van De Beek joined the huddle, slapping their shoulders in delight.

Near the penalty box, Bruno Fernandes ran frantically between teammates, shouting into the air and grabbing everyone within arm's reach.

Harry Maguire was seen wrapping his arms around Raphaël Varane and Álvaro Carreras, he offered loud words of praise before jogging toward the center circle to join others.

Near the home goal, the emotion took a different form.

David de Gea was seen hugging Aaron Wan Bissaka with joy.

Nearby, Kim Min-jae laughed loudly, lifting Luke Shaw off his feet in a bear hug. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia celebrated near the corner flag, waving a replica shirt high above his head, while Michael Olise stood near the center circle with a grin, taking in the scale of the crowd.

Donny van de Beek looked visibly emotional, reflecting on the hard work required to reclaim his role in the squad. Loïs Openda and Mason Greenwood sprinted toward Ronaldo, joining the growing mob near the halfway line, while Bruno Guimarães pointed toward the home dugout, calling the coaching staff onto the grass.

The bench emptied.

Substitutes, fitness coaches, medical staff, analysts, and kit personnel flooded the pitch. Michael Carrick embraced the assistant coaches, their usual professional restraint giving way to open laughter. Staff members who usually worked quietly in the background at Carrington found themselves caught up in the center of the celebrations.

Standing near the technical area, Marcus watched the scene unfold.

A smile appeared on his face. Standing on the touchline, he looked around at the players, coaches, and support staff who had executed his plan across thirty-eight unbeaten matches.

Before joining his squad, he walked across to the Fulham dugout.

Marco Silva stood waiting near the line, offering a firm, polite handshake.

"Congratulations," Silva offered, shouting over the noise of the stands. "A hundred and six points is staggering. You earned every bit of it."

"Thank you, Marco," Marcus replied, acknowledging the compliment. "Your team made us work for it today."

Out on the pitch, the United players exchanged handshakes with the Fulham squad. Several visiting players offered congratulations to Ronaldo on his goal tally, while others shook hands with Maguire and De Gea. The mutual respect was clear, the opposition acknowledging the standard set by the champions.

Up in the directors' suite, the reactions were equally pronounced.

Sir Alex Ferguson stood near the front of his private box, a wide smile on his face as he applauded the squad. Beside him, former club captains and Champions League winners stood in a line, cheering the achievement. For Ferguson, watching the club claim its first Premier League title since his departure a decade prior carried a quiet weight.

In an adjacent VIP box, Arthur Sterling and Maria Silva watched the pitch alongside Alexander Vance.

Their expressions remained composed and professional for the surrounding cameras. Arthur offered a measured, appreciative applause, while Maria smiled warmly as the crowd sang down below. A few seats away, Milly Alcock stood beside Elena Sterling and her best friend, Ari.

Having met Marcus's parents properly before kickoff, Milly felt at ease in the suite. Watching Marcus stand near the touchline, she smiled, leaning over as the stadium noise swelled.

Elena glanced at her, eyebrows raised teasingly. "Still surprised you're dating him?"

Milly laughed, watching Marcus casually step back to avoid a flying water bottle. "I'm still trying to understand him."

"Good luck," Elena replied, grabbing a handful of popcorn. "We've had twenty-odd years and we're still guessing."

Down on the grass, the official Premier League presentation platform was rapidly constructed near the center circle.

Golden arches were erected, and League officials carried out the tray of medals. A quiet structure descended over the pitch as the players lined up along the red carpet leading to the stage.

The medal presentation proceeded in a sequence.

The backroom staff walked up first. Kit managers, analysts, medical personnel, and fitness coaches received their medals to warm applause from the squad. Michael Carrick stepped up, receiving a loud cheer from the players he had drilled daily at Carrington.

Then came the playing squad.

James Garner and Álvaro Carreras walked up together, grinning as the gold medals were draped around their necks. Donny van de Beek received a warm embrace from the officials. Scott McTominay, Bruno Guimarães, Michael Olise, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia collected theirs in quick succession.

Kim Min-jae adjusted his medal with a smile, followed by Luke Shaw and Kieran Trippier. David de Gea received a massive ovation from the stands as his medal was presented, acknowledging his long service to the club.

Bruno Fernandes walked up, kissing the gold piece before stepping onto the wooden dais.

When Cristiano Ronaldo's name was announced over the public address system, the stadium cheered loudly. Accepting his medal, he offered a brief nod to the camera before taking his place on the stage alongside Bruno and Olise.

Finally, Marcus was called forward.

Walking up the steps in his dark suit, he accepted the medal smoothly, shaking hands with the Premier League executives before stepping to the back of the group, leaving the front row open for the players.

Harry Maguire stepped up last.

As club captain, he received the final medal before being handed the handles of the Premier League trophy.

Walking toward the center of the podium, Maguire looked up at the Stretford End. Taking a deep breath, he looked left and right at his teammates, who were bouncing in anticipation.

Maguire lifted the trophy high into the Manchester sky.

Pyrotechnics exploded from the sides of the stage, sending streams of red and gold flame into the air. A cannon fired, raining thousands of pieces of shimmering gold confetti down over the podium.

The crowd roared as the players swarmed Maguire. Ronaldo grabbed the captain's shoulder, shouting in celebration, while Bruno Fernandes jumped on his back. Khvicha laughed as confetti stuck to his wet hair, and Olise pulled out a phone to capture a video of the group.

The formal ceremony gave way to a joyful celebration across the pitch.

The trophy was passed down the line. De Gea held it up toward the Stretford End, receiving another wave of cheers. Kim and Varane posed together with the silver handles, while Garner and Carreras took turns holding it above their heads.

Eventually, the barriers opened, allowing family members and partners to join the squad on the grass.

Children ran across the watered turf in mini-kits, kicking stray footballs into the empty nets. Parents and partners embraced the players, taking photographs with the trophy against the backdrop of the roaring stands.

Standing slightly away from the primary cluster near the penalty spot, Marcus watched his players celebrate with their families.

Milly walked down the tunnel steps, making her way across the grass toward him.

Stepping up, she wrapped her arms around his waist. Marcus leaned down, kissing her briefly on the lips.

Separating slightly, Milly offered a mischievous smile. "Look at you. Actually winning a trophy in front of me."

"It was on the schedule," Marcus replied dryly.

Milly rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "I met your parents earlier, by the way."

Marcus looked over toward the directors' box, where Arthur and Maria were slowly making their way down toward the tunnel area alongside Alexander Vance. "And?"

"Lovely people," Milly noted, smoothing his lapels. "Surprisingly normal."

"Did they interrogate you?"

"No," she teased. "Your mother talked to me like we've been friends for five years."

Marcus offered a small smile, then glanced around to ensure no cameras were hovering over them. "Just remember the agreement. In public, keep it strictly formal. We keep the ownership details quiet for as long as possible."

Milly gave him a crisp, sarcastic salute. "Yes, gaffer."

"Infuriating," he muttered, though the fondness in his voice was clear.

Moments later, Arthur, Maria, and Elena approached the edge of the pitch, accompanied by Vance.

With several broadcast cameras panning across the turf, the interaction remained professional on the surface. Arthur stepped forward, extending a hand to Marcus with the formal composure of a club owner addressing his manager.

"A remarkable achievement, Marcus," Arthur said clearly for the nearby microphones. "One hundred and six points is an extraordinary standard for this football club."

"Thank you, Mr. Sterling," Marcus replied smoothly, shaking his hand firmly.

Maria stepped up next, offering a polite, professional handshake. As her fingers wrapped around his, she gave his hand a subtle, affectionate squeeze that went unnoticed by the surrounding media. "Congratulations, manager. A wonderful afternoon for the club."

"Thank you, Mrs. Silva."

Elena stood behind them, making a face at her brother behind her mother's back, which Marcus ignored with practiced ease.

A short while later, a wireless microphone was brought onto the pitch, connected to the stadium public address system.

The players gathered near the center circle to address the remaining crowd. Players stepped up and adressed the crowd.

Then it was Cristiano Ronaldo turn.

The stadium quieted down, waiting for the veteran forward to speak.

"Thank you," Ronaldo began, his voice carrying clearly over the speakers. "First, I want to thank every single person in these stands. You supported us from day one, even when things were difficult."

He paused, gesturing toward the backroom staff standing near the dugout.

"I want to thank Michael Carrick, the medical team, the fitness coaches, the kit staff—everyone who works behind the scenes to make us ready every single week. And my teammates. This group is special."

He looked toward Marcus, who stood near the edge of the circle.

"When I came back to Manchester, I wanted to win. We worked hard, we stayed disciplined, and today we are champions. But we are not finished yet. We have more work to do."

The crowd cheered loudly as Ronaldo handed the microphone to Harry Maguire.

The club captain stepped forward, looking up at the Stretford End.

"Ten years," Maguire spoke, his tone earnest. "Ten years this club waited to bring this trophy back where it belongs. We know how hard the journey has been for the fans. But this group stuck together. The coaching staff pushed us, the manager gave us a standard, and every player gave everything for this shirt."

He turned toward Ronaldo. "I want to thank Cristiano for an unbelievable season and congratulate him for reaching nine hundred career goals. And I want to thank Marcus Vale for changing the mentality of this club."

Maguire handed the microphone over to Marcus.

The roar that echoed around Old Trafford was deafening, the entire stadium rising to its feet once again.

Marcus held the microphone, waiting quietly for the noise to subside. Taking a slow, measured breath, he looked around at the sea of red flags and smiling faces.

"The last time I talked with you all was after winning UCL last season," Marcus began, his voice calm and steady over the speakers, "I told you we would march forward."

He paused, letting the words settle.

"I told you we would dominate the pitch. And I told you we would win."

A brief smile touched his face. "I think we are halfway there."

The crowd erupted in cheers.

Marcus raised a hand slightly, continuing when the noise dipped. "We have achieved something special in the Premier League today. One hundred and six points. Undefeated. But we have two more trophies left to play for in this campaign."

He looked around the circle of players, then back toward the stands.

"If we win those final matches, we will have done something nobody in the history of English football has ever accomplished. An unbeaten season. A Treble."

He paused, locking eyes with the crowd.

"So until then... keep the celebrations a little mild."

A wave of laughter rippled through the stadium.

Marcus let out a dry chuckle. "Because if we win those final two... we are going to need a much bigger celebration."

Old Trafford exploded into noise. Bruno Fernandes yelled into the air, Maguire shook his head with a wide smile, and Ronaldo laughed loudly, clapping his hands together.

Handing the microphone back to a club official, Marcus stepped back toward Milly.

She looked at him with an amused expression. "Mild celebration?"

"That was me being responsible," Marcus replied plainly.

"Terrifying," she teased.

"Wait until the final."

Gradually, the celebrations began to wind down. Players took final photographs with their families, walking slowly toward the tunnel while carrying their children. Staff members packed up the presentation equipment, and the pitch slowly cleared.

As the stadium emptied, the digital world exploded into an unprecedented wave of global noise.

Road to 1000

@StatmanDave

Cristiano Ronaldo reaches 900 OFFICIAL CAREER GOALS. 🐐

42 Premier League goals in 2022/23

62 goals in all competitions this season

900 career goals for club and country

At 38 years old, 1,000 career goals is within reach before he hangs up his boots. Unbelievable. 🇵🇹👑

@UTDTrey

ONE HUNDRED AND SIX POINTS. UNDEFEATED. 42 LEAGUE GOALS. 900 CAREER GOALS FOR RONALDO. HE IS LITERALLY GOING TO HIT 1,000 GOALS BEFORE HE RETIRES AND MARCUS VALE IS MAKING IT HAPPEN. I AM CRYING IN MY LIVING ROOM. 🔴😭🐐

@TheEuropeanLad

Marcus Vale telling 75,000 screaming fans to "keep the celebrations mild" because they still have two finals left to play is the most cold-blooded managerial speech I have ever witnessed.

@OptaJoe

900 – Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 900 goals in his professional career. With 62 goals this season alone under Marcus Vale, he requires just 100 more to become the first player in football history to reach 1,000 official goals. Inevitable.

@MarkGoldbridge

WE ARE THE INVINCIBLES! 106 POINTS! SURPASSED JUVENTUS! SURPASSED ARSENAL! SURPASSED CITY! AND RONALDO HAS 900 CAREER GOALS! GIVE HIM TWO MORE YEARS WITH MARCUS VALE AND HE HITS 1,000 EASY!

@CFCMod

Fair play to United. 106 points without losing a single game is insane. Ronaldo hitting 900 goals at 38 is ridiculous too. But let's see if they can actually finish the Treble against City in the FA Cup final.

@UTD_Faithful

Replying to @CFCMod

We just got 106 points, CR7 hit 900 goals, and you're talking about City. Enjoy your 12th place finish mate.

@City_Chief

106 points is impressive, but we have Wembley waiting. The Treble stops with us. We will end the unbeaten run in the FA Cup final.

@MCFC_BlueMoon

Replying to @City_Chief

Exactly. They still have to beat us at Wembley and in Istanbul for the Champions League final. We are the final boss.

Cristiano Ronaldo's updated career numbers after today's brace:

⚽ 900 Career Goals

🏆 106-Point Premier League Champion

🥇 Golden Boot Winner (42 Goals)

Is 1,000 official goals a realistic target before he retires? At this rate, absolutely. 🍷🐐

@TacticalAnalysis

What makes this 106-point season so unique is the squad usage. Marcus Vale didn't just play the same eleven players. Look at James Garner and Carreras today. The entire squad was integrated into the system, all while optimizing Ronaldo to a 62-goal season and pushing him to 900 career goals.

@PieriCousin

900 career goals unlocked on the day they lift the trophy with 106 points. If United keep playing like this next season, Ronaldo hitting 1,000 career goals isn't even a debate anymore.

@Arsenal_Talk

They went unbeaten, and 106 points means they are statistically better than our 2004 team. It hurts to type that, but facts are facts.

@BarstoolFootball

Manchester City being the only team left that can stop Manchester United from winning the Sevenfold is the ultimate football script.

Two games against City stand between us and immortality.

Scenes at Old Trafford as Harry Maguire lifts the Premier League trophy to confirm an undefeated, record-breaking 106-point campaign, while Cristiano Ronaldo reaches the historic 900 career goals milestone.

@GlobalFootballToday

Manchester United stand two victories away from an unprecedented 7-trophy season, led by a 900-goal Cristiano Ronaldo on course for 1,000.

Dusk fell over Manchester, turning the sky a deep, bruised purple.

The crowds outside Old Trafford had finally dispersed toward the city center pubs, leaving the concourses quiet. Stray pieces of golden confetti drifted across the dark grass of the empty pitch, catching the faint glow of the security floodlights.

High above the Stretford End, the digital scoreboard remained on, casting its message over the empty seats.
