Strongest Family System

The morning after the Duskfall investigator left Magical City, Robert sat in the Information Hall with a stack of monthly reports spread across the table in front of him.

The investigation was over. He had confirmed it himself the previous evening, standing on the wall and watching the city settle into its quiet rhythm. The Duskfall Clan had found nothing, and for now, that was enough. With that matter closed, his attention could return fully to something far more important than threats and investigations. It could return to the clan itself.

Sai sat across from him, sorting through the reports in the careful, organized way he always did. Over the past several months, his role has grown well beyond simple network coordination. He now tracked nearly every aspect of the clan's daily operations, and the reports he had prepared for this meeting reflected that.

"Recruitment first," Sai said, sliding one page across the table.

Robert looked it over. New cultivators had continued applying to join the clan steadily, and many of them now came from outside the immediate region around Magical City. Word of the Osborn name had spread through merchant routes and traveling cultivators, and the clan's reputation for fair treatment and genuine opportunity had done more to attract new members than any active recruitment effort could have.

"Trade income next," Sai continued.

The numbers there were equally encouraging. The hostel business across the central district continued generating steady, reliable income every month, and that income had become the financial backbone supporting nearly everything else the clan was building. Trade caravans now regularly passed through routes the clan controlled, paying modest fees that added up to a significant and dependable source of funds.

"And the network," Sai said, setting down the final page.

The information network had grown far beyond its original seven points. It now covered most of Magical City and had begun extending into several nearby settlements, giving the clan early warning of nearly anything happening within a day's travel of its walls.

Robert looked over each report carefully, satisfied with what he saw. The clan had grown steadily and consistently, without relying on luck or sudden windfalls. It was the kind of growth that lasted.

He was still reviewing the final page when something shifted in his vision.

A series of notifications appeared, one after another, each one confirming that a long-running system task had finally been completed.

The first notification confirmed that the clan's population had successfully exceeded its required target. The second confirmed that the clan had built a recruitment network capable of attracting cultivators from beyond its original territory. The third confirmed that the information network had achieved stable coverage across the surrounding region. The fourth confirmed that the clan now possessed multiple independent sources of income rather than depending on any single one.

Four missions. Four rewards.

Robert sat back slightly, reading through what the system had granted him.

The first reward was a set of advanced blueprints for new clan buildings.

He opened the description carefully, taking his time with each one. There was a Cultivation Pavilion, designed to support group training sessions for clan members at similar cultivation stages.

There was a Contribution Hall, meant to track and reward member effort across the clan. A Training Arena, larger and more structured than the open yard the clan currently uses. A Resource Exchange Hall, where clan members and elders could trade cultivation materials and goods among themselves rather than relying entirely on outside merchants.

And a Spirit Herb Garden, where the clan could begin cultivating its own medicinal herbs instead of purchasing them at market price.

Robert viewed each blueprint slowly, picturing where they might eventually stand within the clan's growing footprint. None of them needed to be built immediately, but each one represented a piece of what the clan would eventually become.

The second reward was an upgrade to the clan's existing defensive array.

Where the current formation provided basic protection around the clan's outer wall, this upgraded version offered something considerably stronger.

It extended its coverage further beyond the walls, strengthened its resistance specifically against Soul Manifestation level intrusions, and somehow managed to consume less spirit stone energy than the version it replaced.

Robert read through the explanation twice to make sure he understood it correctly, and the more he read, the more he realized how much safer the clan would become once it was installed.

The third reward was a new formation for gathering spirit energy, more powerful than anything the clan currently had in place.

Unlike the smaller array installed in the restricted building, this version could draw spirit energy from a much wider area surrounding the compound and concentrate it across the entire training grounds. Every clan member who trained within its range would benefit from faster, more efficient cultivation, without needing to compete for limited space inside a single room.

The fourth reward unlocked something Robert had not expected but immediately recognized the value of. A Clan Contribution System.

The system explained itself clearly. Clan members would now be able to earn contribution points by completing assigned tasks, training goals, resource-gathering missions, construction work, or anything else that benefited the clan as a whole. Those points could later be exchanged for rewards, resources, or privileges within the clan. It was a simple idea, but Robert understood immediately how useful it would be. As the clan grew larger, it would become harder to track who contributed what and to reward effort fairly. This system would handle that automatically, and it would give every member, no matter how junior, a clear reason to keep working hard.

The fifth and final reward was the most significant of all.

The system unlocked full plans for an Advanced Cultivation Hall, a dedicated facility built specifically to support serious cultivation training. Unlike the restricted building's two floors, this hall would include multiple specialized rooms, each one designed to support cultivators at different stages of advancement. A member working through Spirit Root Realm foundation work would train in a different room than someone preparing for a Soul Manifestation breakthrough, with each room calibrated to provide exactly what that stage of cultivation required.

Robert understood immediately that this hall, once built, would become one of the clan's most valuable possessions.

He closed the system display and looked at Sai, who had been watching him quietly through the entire process, having long since learned not to interrupt while Robert was in his own thought.
