Chapter 202 202: The Battle at Osborn Clan (Part 1)
The Array activation took place at the third hour of midnight. Robert received a message from Jack, informing him that the enemy had activated the Array and that they were close to the Osborn clan.
Robert's reaction remained unchanged. The night looked just as it always did. The stars twinkling above were the same familiar ones. The city beyond the wall was still the same city. But now, the clan feels so isolated.
And whatever happened inside it for the next three hours belonged only to the people present for it.
The first figure appeared over the eastern wall, followed closely by two more emerging from the northern section at the same time. Within just thirty seconds, three more approached from the west. And then, Zilton Walker and the other three unknown cultivators stepped through the gate.
Zilton Walker stepped through the front gate of the Osborn compound, dressed in his plain, unmarked robes. He paused as he took in the scene before him in the outer yard, where something unexpected awaited him. The gate had swung open easily thanks to Robert leaving it unlocked.
Robert stood in the middle of the yard, while John Osborn was about five meters to his left. The compound behind them was eerily quiet, completely still. There was no panic, no scrambling, and not a single clan member was running for cover.
Just a father and son standing in the outer yard in the third hour of the night as though they had been expecting company.
Zilton looked at Robert.
Then at John.
Then, the seven figures who had come in with him were now scattered around the outer edge of the yard, along with the three unknown cultivators standing beside him. His expression remained mostly unchanged.
But something behind his eyes moved through a calculation that arrived at an answer he did not find comfortable.
They knew we were coming.
Robert looked at Zilton across the yard's open ground.
"Zilton Walker," he said.
"Robert Osborn." Zilton's voice carried the particular level of quality of
someone who had arrived prepared for exactly this moment and was not going to give anything away in its opening. "You were expecting us."
"I was."
"Then you know this compound is sealed."
"I do."
Zilton looked at him.
"Ten against two," he said. "With a sealed perimeter."
"Yes."
"Then you get what tonight is all about." Robert glanced at him, saying nothing. Zilton lifted one hand just a bit—the signal his six members had been eagerly waiting for.
The three mysterious cultivators observed the walker clan member as they moved. The aura appeared before any of them got close to their targets. It did not descend slowly.
It arrived in its entirety. From above the roof of the outer building—from the spot where a presence had been keeping itself hidden, and now it suddenly let go of that restraint in an instant.
Soul Manifestation Level 10, at its peak stage. Unleash the power without any restrictions. The compound yard noted this event before any of the seven Walker cultivators had even begun to move toward their objectives.
The ground beneath them developed the surface compression that extreme cultivation pressure produced in proximity—the packed earth cracking in a radiating pattern outward from the building's roofline as though the weight of what had just released itself had a physical mass that the ground was acknowledging.
The six Level 4 cultivators came to a halt, gripped by fear. It was that instinctive freeze that occurs when someone faces a cultivation level so vastly superior that their body reacts before their mind can fully grasp what is happening.
One of them took a step back, then another. But Zilton Walker stood his ground, his feet firmly planted. He lifted his gaze to the roofline, tapping into his sensing ability—Soul Manifestation Level 5 Peak Stage, the pinnacle of all he had achieved—reaching up toward the ceiling.
Zilton walker found it impossible to determine the cultivation level of the person standing there. The pressure radiating from that individual felt much stronger than the three unknown cultivators next to him, and he could not shake off the fear that was starting to bubble up inside his mind.
Jack stepped down from the edge of the roof. It was not a grand entrance—no flashy lights or loud noises. One moment, he was up there, high above the building, and the next, he was right there in the yard behind Robert.
John noticed the person standing behind Robert, and with his keen eye for detail, he realized that his son had a powerful cultivator backing him. That is why he was not afraid after hearing the news about the attack on the Orborn clan.
Three unknown cultivators were taken aback by the aura radiating from the person standing behind Robert. They never anticipated that the Osborn clan would harbor such a powerful individual. Now, they had second thoughts about leaving the Osborn clan.
Zilton Walker spoke first.
There was a certain controlled quality to his voice, the kind that suggested he had not quite wrapped his head around the situation yet and was stalling for a moment while he gathered his thoughts.
"You have a formidable person in your clan," Robert said. "Yes," came the response. "But I cannot tell you their cultivation level." "Yes," Robert replied. Zilton glanced at the figure standing behind Robert, then returned his attention to him.
Robert turned his gaze toward the three unknown culprits and remarked, "I do not understand why you are after the Osborn clan, but i will uncover the truth soon enough. Anyone who dares to threaten the Osborn clan should face the consequences."
Out of the three unknown cultivators, one person spoke up. His name was Daven Duskfall. He said, "We are the lowest members of our clan. If you try to harm us, then the Duskfall clan will not stand idly by."
Robert laughed and said, "You have your back against the wall, and you will not know how your fate will unfold. It will take time for them to figure it out. Plus, the clan is quite a distance from the Osborn clan."
