Chapter 53. Princess Dress.
It was wednesday, a day before the trial of the blonde bitch who would rot in prison and finally leave my papa alone. Yesterday I smelled her on him. Late at night when papa was reading a story to me I could smell the faint scent of another woman’s perfume. It was disgusting.
So I made sure to mark my scent on him. But more important things had to be dealt with first; I couldn’t let some homewrecker ruin my dream.
The keys jingled as I shut off the engine of the black SUV.
“Vic is this really important? Can’t it be discussed later, like tomorrow or never?” Kathy whined from the passenger seat.
The window was down and the wind blew her black hair around. Her face was grumpy.
Normally I would let her get away with her whining but today was different. With my hand I grabbed her face and squeezed her cheeks.
“It is the most important thing you’ll ever do in your life Kathy,” I said in a serious tone.
She swatted my hand away before unlocking the door and stepping out. I did the same.
The sun was up and there were no clouds. The asphalt of the parking lot felt warm even with our shoes. The district stretched out in front of us, four buildings in a row, each one taller and quieter than the last—cheap, middle, rich and the one that was reserved to the wealthiest. The last building was where we were headed.
“Vic is it really necessary? We could just go to the regular store for clothes,” Kathy walked behind me as we crossed the street and approached the building. There was an A-ranker guarding the doors, a man with broad shoulders, dressed in a black suit and sunglasses.
He looked at us, his gaze sharp behind those dark glasses. The doors behind him were heavy glass, the kind that didn’t make a sound when they opened. The wind blew again and I brushed my hair out of my face.
I put on my fake smile and walked to him.
“Hello. Me and my sister would like to enter,” I said sweetly. His expression was serious. Reaching for his small tablet, he swiped at it a few times before looking at us again.
“Names please?” His voice was deep and firm.
We both introduced ourselves and he let us in after checking our credentials. The building smelled like expensive perfume. The floors were clean marble and a chandelier made of crystals and mana cores was hanging above us as we entered. The air inside was temperature controlled, cool and still, like nothing outside existed.
Kathy looked at me and raised an eyebrow, I just grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the fourth floor where the custom couturiers were.
The sound of our shoes echoed in the elevator as it moved. The numbers above the door were gold.
When it dinged, I was greeted by an attendant.
“Welcome Miss Victoria and Miss Katherine. I am at your service for today. How may I help?” The man said and bowed his head.
Kathy bumped my shoulder and gave me a questioning look.
I smiled at her.
“I would like to custom make a princess dress. One that fits perfectly,” I said to the attendant.
He nodded and gestured to a hallway, which we followed, his steps were silent. Kathy was saying something about how this was ridiculous, I just focused on the countless dresses that were on display behind the glass. They were all one of a kind. That is why I chose this place.
The attendant led us to a spacious room that looked like a workshop. There were fabrics everywhere and there was a stage with lights. The lights above the stage were warm and directional, the kind that made everything look like it was being presented and next to the stage was a desk where a woman with a pencil behind her ear was sitting and drawing a dress.
We stopped at the entrance as the attendant clapped his hands.
The woman looked up, her blue hair tied up and her green eyes landed on us.
“Wow, divinity” she muttered and walked to us.
Of course she thought I was beautiful, I was papa’s daughter after all.
Stopping in front of Kathy, the woman looked her over and circled her like a predator would circle its prey, the sound of her heels was the only noise in the room.
The attendant disappeared and the woman kept looking at my sister.
“You are divine. Beautiful. Do you model?” She asked.
Kathy glanced at me and gave me a grin.
“I am not but I should. What do you think of my ugly sister here?” Kathy gestured to me.
My chest tingled with annoyance but I let Kathy enjoy this. For now.
The woman walked to me and hummed. She moved my hair out of my face, her fingers grazing my cheek as she touched my chin, looking into my eyes.
A sour taste filled my mouth as she touched me. It took all my effort not to puke. But I needed to put up with it.
“You are twins yet your aura’s are vastly different. You are a cold winter’s night, your sister a warm summer breeze,” the woman said and let go of my face.
“I’m sorry Kathy warm?” I laughed.
Pinching my arm, Kathy glared at me and then looked at the designer. “Yeah so my sister has a princess obsession and she wants to wear a custom princess dress for her... date with... doesn’t matter,” Kathy explained.
The lady, Celeste looked at me, her eyes examining me.
“Who are you wearing it for? What is the message you want to send?” She walked to a rack full of different kinds of fabrics. Soft velvet, silky, thin and transparent, rough cotton and more.
I walked next to her and looked at the fabrics, touching them and imagining what papa’s reaction would be if I wore them. Which one would be perfect?
“The most important and only man in my life. The message I want to send is simple. One half of a whole, meant to be together, not without the other,” I said.
Celeste hummed again and took out a notepad and started drawing a design. She was quick with her strokes. Her pencil moved like water.
Kathy leaned closer to look at it. The sketch was of a full body dress with intricate designs. It was a black gown that had silver flowers, the neck was high and the sleeves reached her hands.
“What do you think?” Celeste asked Kathy.
My twin shrugged.
“Nah too elegant for Victoria,” she said and shook her head.
The lady turned to me. Her eyes asking for my opinion.
I tilted my head.
“It needs more... It needs to say he owns me completely and that I accept it,” I said.
Celeste raised her eyebrow at my honesty.
Kathy sighed. “My sister is not normal.”
A smile then appeared on Celeste's lips.
“Okay then let me see what I can do,” she said and her pencil moved faster. Drawing ten more dresses on different pages before handing me the sketches.
Looking through the papers I could see each of the designs. One of them caught my eye and I smiled. This was it. I gave it back to Celeste.
"This."
She nodded and got up from her seat. Pink mana surrounded her hands and she snapped her fingers. A dress made itself in a matter of seconds. The floating fabric and threads moved in the air and the dress took its shape, then fell on the mannequin in front of me. The smell of fresh mana was everywhere.
Kathy stared at it.
I gave her a smirk.
“Would you like a maid’s outfit Kathy?” I teased and she scoffed. My eyes landed on the beautiful gown. Illusion magic was used for the details and the dress sparkled under the lights. The black choker with a purple heart in the middle was perfect.
Celeste pulled out a measuring tape from her pocket.
“Miss Victoria on the stage please.”
Taking in a deep breath, I let myself be touched by this stranger as she measured my body and I imagined papa doing the same. My core was thrumming in my chest as I couldn’t wait for our date. For when my dress would be torn by his hands and he would ravish me on a castle bed, under the moonlight.
Why does it take so long to build a castle?
