Retired S-rank father becomes a teacher

Chapter 35.6. He wants my body? Jessica POV.

It was a Sunday and I was staying at a resort my father was a key investor in. We had a seperate penthouse suite that he bought for me to stay in. But I didn’t really care much for the luxury or the ocean view from the balcony.

Walking on the sand, I let the waves wash over my feet, enjoying the cool water and the warmth of the sun. Unfortunately Meilin and Mizuri couldn’t come; they went back to their hometowns for the weekend.

I invited a few other girls in my class to the resort. They asked and I saw no problem with letting them tag along. The alternative was me sitting alone cursing Professor Vane again for the injustice of it all. Another 9.9 on my latest test. I could feel the fury bubbling up again in my gut. How hard I studied and practiced to just fall short every single time.

The beach was beautiful and my friends behind me chatted among themselves. The sand felt nice under my bare feet and the sea smelled fresh.

My father was supposed to be here. I wanted to ask him if I could meet with Judge Lucifer, maybe ask her if she could intervene and ask Professor Vane to finally give me a fair grade. But my father left as soon as Lucifer herself came to the resort. His work as a Hunter Association mana appraisal was very important. He helped organize the mana type database that all of the newly awakened people would go through. My father was a busy man.

“Hey let’s go to the pool!” One of my classmates yelled from behind and the rest agreed.

Turning around, I looked at the group of four girls and nodded. The pool was better. My feet had enough sand and it was time to relax. Not to mention I heard there was a bar at the poolside, with the strongest legal alcoholic beverages that normal people can get their hands on.

The five of us walked back to the resort. The pavement was hot so I put on my slippers and followed them. Suddenly they talked about Professor Vane. The rumors were that he was seen at this resort.

The other girls gossiped about the subject, their eyes sparkling in excitement. Excitement. While he was the biggest annoyance to me. But I just let them talk.

A gasp from one of them. “That’s him! Over there.”

“Let’s go sit close to him and say hello! Maybe he will recognize us.” They giggled and went ahead.

My feet felt heavier. I saw him sitting at the bar, his legs crossed and two beautiful women with him. A black haired and a brown haired one. Both looked like models, and Professor Vane looked like he was having fun teasing them.

I swallowed as we walked to one of the chairs at the bar. This bikini was too skimpy. Maybe he didn’t notice me. It felt like my stomach was turning when I sat down and tried to cover my boobs with my hair.

The others got drinks and started giggling again. Then he locked eyes with me and his eyebrows shot up in surprise.

No. No. Why was he walking over here? I didn’t want to deal with this right now. I looked away and took a drink from the glass in front of me. It tasted like sour grapes. Calm down and play it normal. It is just Professor Vane. Greet him first, then try to steer the conversation to my grades.

He was close now. I could feel his warmth radiating onto my skin. My heart was beating fast as I turned my head to smile at him.

“Professor Vane,” I said and tried to lean back sexily on the bar stool. He noticed. The grin on his face got bigger. Was he actually interested in my body? I guess this bikini did pay off.

His voice was deep as he spoke. “Good afternoon Jessica and company...we’re quite far from the academy don’t you think?”

Obviously. We’re in a different continent.

He grabbed a chair and turned it backwards, sitting on it with his arms on the backrest. His eyes never leaving my body and it was making my skin feel hot. But he had a wife and two daughters. Did he really like to play around like that?

“Well my father is a major investor in this resort. So I come here a lot during the breaks,” I said, leaning forward a bit, trying to show off my chest. But his eyes met mine instead and a shiver went through me.

That look in his eyes. I couldn’t name it but it felt dangerous.

“I didn’t expect to see the one professor who refused to give me a perfect score, here though,” I continued, letting the frustration slip into my words.

He chuckled, and the sound made me feel a flutter in my chest.

“About our deal...” he said.

I had to grab my drink and take another sip because my hands were suddenly sweaty. Can I use this chance to my advantage?

“Ah yes, the deal you offered Meilin, Mizuri and I. But it seems none of us are worthy of your praise.”

His smile got wider and he leaned down to my eye level, I could smell him clearly. Minty and the scent of the sea. His breath hit my cheek as he whispered into my ears.

“How about I give you a chance to impress me, right now?”

That was the most provocative thing I’d ever heard.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded. What was he thinking? Did he want to sleep with me for a grade. That was...very bad. I didn’t want to sleep with my teacher for my grades but I needed those grades to succeed. My father worked hard to put me in the academy and I needed to make it worth it.

Before I knew it, I was gone. The resort disappeared from view. My body felt weightless for a second and then my back hit a soft bed. I was on a bed. In a room alone with him.

My thoughts were going at a hundred miles per hour. This was the moment I would sell my body for success. My legs shook as I sat up on the bed, looking at him. He stood in front of the bed with a mischievous smile.

“It’s time to impress me with your body Jessica.” He said as he pulled off his shirt.

This was wrong, right? Sleeping with my teacher was immoral.

But if it could get me that letter of recommendation to the Hunters Association. I had to do it. My hands grabbed the back of my bikini and untied it. The cold air hit my nipples.

He laughed. “Not like that Jessica.”

I paused. Not that?

“Show me your magic,” he said and sat down next to me on the bed.

A machine appeared in his hand out of thin air. A monitor with some wires. It looked like my dad’s stuff. Did he just want to test my mana density?

But he put one of the wires on my arm, his hand moving down it to my fingers and holding it softly.

“This is a state of the art device, designed to detect the magic type and mana potential of your core,” he paused, “Basically it’d show whether you actually are S-rank potential.” He pressed a button on the monitor and a red light emitted from it to the wire on my arm.

My breath hitched. Such a machine did not exist as far as I know. My dad didn’t have it and he was a lead scientist in the field. I looked at his violet eyes and they were fixed on me with such... calmness? Like he was guiding me.

He was going to let me show him if I was worthy of his recommendation without making me do anything sexual.

“How do you have such a machine? They don’t exist,” I asked, my voice shaking slightly.

A smile crept on his lips. The same one I saw him use when he was playing with Katherine in the gym. It was gentle and full of warmth.

“I had Berlin make one for me just in case,” he answered.

A chill ran through me and the machine beeped. Professor Vane looked at it and sighed.

“You have to pour your mana into the wire, that’s how it’ll calculate your mana density,” he explained and stood up.

His back was against the wall, leaning, watching me with calmness that made my hair stand up on my arms. I didn’t understand why he was being like this. But it was the first time since meeting him that he didn’t feel intimidating. He actually cared about helping me.

So I concentrated, pouring mana out of my core to my arm and into the wire. I saw the machine light up and do some sort of scanning.

After ten seconds it beeped again.

“Mana Type: Contract Magic.”

Four words that shattered my entire life. Illegal. Executed. Dead. That was all I thought in the moment. I couldn’t breathe as my eyes went wide. My father told me I had wind magic. I saw it myself, I blew away the papers on my birthday.

I looked up at Professor Vane, waiting for him to execute me right now but he just stared back, with his arms crossed. Not angry. Not disgusted. He didn’t move.

Seeing him, reminded me of my mother. Her screams as she burned alive.

A tear slipped from my eye and my hands gripped the blanket on the bed. The man that pointed at me. The man's cheap deodorant—a smell I could never forget.

Then he said something. Something I haven’t been able to recall for years. “Does she have it too?” I could see the flame from his hand from the memory.

I choked. My mom had contract magic. They killed her because she had illegal magic. My father lied to the Association. He hid my magic and said I had wind. Lucifer would kill me if she found out. Worse. She’d execute my father for treason. My father was protecting me this entire time.

The next second I looked up at Professor Vane. The man who hasn’t said any word yet, who just watched my internal breakdown and didn’t comfort me, just sat there with his violet eyes and waited patiently. For what?

My thoughts were a mess, but I knew the implications.

I am his puppet now.

“What do I have to do?” I whispered, my voice hoarse from trying to hold back my tears. For dad. For his protection. I would be whatever Professor Vane wanted. I would be a puppet on his strings and dance for his amusement, as long as my dad was safe.
