Chapter 22.9. His family.
The big D-rank up celebration was happening in the fanciest resort in the world; after all his little princess deserved nothing less than the best. Naturally this place was located in Ibiza, Spain at a famous resort where many high-profile people, from movie stars to politicians to the wealthiest people in the world, went to vacation.
Silas sat in his living room. A tuxedo on and his hair combed to the side, looking sharp and handsome. Instead of the usual black, his tuxedo was dark purple with silver details. His wedding band matched it perfectly.
“Liz, Kathy, Vic are you ready? We need to go soon!” he announced, adjusting the tie in front of the mirror.
No reply, the girls were still in their rooms getting ready. His phone buzzed in front of him on the table, a text notification on the screen. Looking at it he saw that it was from the Vane family group chat. It was from his uncle John.
‘We just arrived at the resort. Arriving on time is proper etiquette isn’t it? @Anna.’
He rolled his eyes. Another text came in. This time from his mom, Anna or Uncle John’s sister.
‘John zip it.’
A chuckle left Silas. Those two bickered so much, it was a wonder how they were even related.
Putting his phone away he walked upstairs to check on his wife and daughters.
In the master bedroom, Liz was putting on a stunning red dress with a slit on one side that revealed her pale thigh, and a plunging neckline that emphasized her ample bosom, while a ruby necklace hung from her neck. She was the definition of elegance and beauty.
He whistled, catching her attention.
Elizabeth turned to see her husband looking at her like a love-sick fool. A smirk appeared on her lips and she gave him a twirl, showing off her figure. Another whistle came from him.
“Am I in heaven? Did the most beautiful angel fall—”
“Heaven is overrated. You are here with me after all,” she teased as she walked to him and straightened his tie with a soft touch.
A smile made its way onto his face as he leaned down and gave her a deep kiss on her soft lips, savoring the taste of cherry from her red lipstick.
Pulling away he tried to cop a feel of her breasts, a playful grin on his lips. His wife slapped his hand and shook her finger at him in a mock scolding manner.
“Later mister, I have to finish putting my heels on. Go check on the girls. And no groping them either,” she winked.
Damn. Foiled again.
Leaving the room with his tail between his legs, Silas headed to his daughters’ rooms that were next to each other. He knocked on Kathy’s door first. It opened a minute later.
A spitting image of Elizabeth stood before him, but with a french twist hair style, black bobby pins holding it in place.
“Wow Kat... you look amazing. I almost thought you were a grown up for a second there,” he joked, earning himself a glare.
“You look like Hugh Hefner,” she said with a smile.
The world’s most famous bachelor. Not bad.
“When he was 91 years old obviously."
Oh that one hurt.
But he could see past her words, her jokes . His little girl was trying hard not to let her jealousy show. Her sister surpassed her and was getting all the attention and it wasn’t fair in her eyes.
“Kat come here,” he opened his arms wide for a hug.
Her eyebrows shot up. This was weird.
Slowly she walked into his embrace, her head resting on his chest. It felt good.
“Listen. I love you. I’m proud of you for everything. Today is Victoria’s celebration because she ranked up but you’ll be right behind her, I’m sure. I’ll help you train if you want me to, okay?” He spoke in a gentle tone.
Her hands were wrapped around his waist and she squeezed him tighlty.
A small nod came and a sniffle.
He patted her back. This was progress for the rebellious child.
Kathy composed herself and pulled away. Wiping her nose, she tried to act tough again. “Yeah, yeah. Don’t get all sentimental because of old age, it’s a friday.”
Grinning, he kissed the top of her head and said, “Go get your shoes, we are leaving in five.”
She nodded again, a small smile on her lips and went down stairs, leaving him to deal with his second daughter.
In front of Victoria’s door he hesitated. The memory of what happened earlier still fresh. A line was crossed today and he had no idea how to deal with that.
Breathing in, he knocked on her door too but she didn’t answer. With a sigh he opened the door, to find Victoria staring at herself in the vertical mirror. Her dress was a lavender ball gown, matching the earrings he gifted her. Without the poofiness because she would complain it was hard to move around in.
Her hair was braided in a crown, making her look like a princess. His princess.
Victoria turned to him with a beautiful smile and did a curtsy, “My prince charming, shall we go to the ball?”
His heart melted. The dress, the attitude, it was an abundance of adorableness. Silas approached her and held out his arm.
“It would be my honor to escort you there, my lady,” he played along. “Though, this isn’t a ball.”
A giggle escaped her as she took his arm, leaning her head on his shoulder, the scent of her perfume making him lightheaded. They walked out together, down the stairs to where Elizabeth and Kathy were waiting.
The whole family together, beautiful as can be; if only this moment could last forever, Silas was thinking as he looked at the three of them standing in the living room, the sun shining through the window, creating an almost ethereal picture.
Before teleporting them to the resort, he had to do one thing. The most important thing a father had to do: from his pocket, he took out his phone and opened the camera, pointing it at his girls and wife.
“Everyone say cheese,” he said with a big smile.
Elizabeth was the first to say it loudly with her finger forming a ‘v’, while Kat was sticking out her tongue at him, and Vic was smiling in the most princess-like manner with her head tilted.
Click. He took the picture. A warm feeling filled his chest. This was his family.
