I Became a Demon Sword and Traveled the Anime Worlds

Chapter 111 111: A New Boss Has Appeared!

When Yuji Itadori opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was paper.

Talismans covered the walls from floor to ceiling, layered so densely that the room looked less like a chamber and more like a sealed box built to contain something that should never be allowed outside.

Then he realized he could not move.

His wrists and ankles were bound to a chair. Ropes held him in place, tight enough to make struggling pointless. Across from him sat another chair, and on that chair, as relaxed as a man enjoying coffee at a roadside café, was Gojo Satoru.

"Morning," Gojo said, lifting a hand in greeting. "Good news and bad news. You're going to be executed."

Yuji stared at him.

Gojo smiled.

"But the execution's been suspended for now."

Yuji blinked slowly, still half dazed from unconsciousness and far too much nonsense in one night.

"Suspended?" he asked. "So... I don't have to die right away?"

"Exactly."

Gojo reached into his pocket and took out a shriveled, mummified finger wrapped in talisman paper.

"This is Sukuna's Finger. There are twenty of them in total. At Jujutsu High, we've managed to secure six."

He flicked his wrist.

The finger shot forward under an invisible force and slammed into the talisman-covered wall. The impact left a dent, but the finger itself remained completely intact.

"As you can see," Gojo said, "we can't destroy them. Not with conventional methods, anyway. But the Cursed Technique inside you, the legendary Asuramaru, might be another story."

Yuji's gaze shifted to the finger embedded in the wall.

Gojo continued, tone light but words merciless.

"If you die, the Sukuna inside you dies too. That's why the higher-ups want you killed. They're timid old men, which means the moment something smells dangerous, their first instinct is to bury it and pretend they handled the problem."

He leaned back in his chair.

"So here are your options. You die now, or you swallow all twenty fingers first and die afterward."

Yuji lowered his head.

The room fell quiet.

Then he asked, "Can't we try using Asuramaru?"

For once, Gojo did not answer with a joke.

His posture remained casual, but the air around him sharpened.

"Putting aside whether that's even possible," he said, "can you actually gain his approval?"

Yuji had no answer.

The question pressed against something hollow inside him. He had met Asuramaru, yes. He had spoken with him. But approval? Recognition? A desire strong enough to move a godlike sword?

He did not even know where to begin.

His shoulders slumped like someone had pulled the air out of him.

Gojo watched him for a moment, then leaned forward with renewed interest.

"Did Asuramaru say whether someone else could obtain your Cursed Technique? Or help you earn his recognition?"

"I don't know," Yuji answered honestly. "He didn't really explain much. Sukuna challenged him once, though."

Gojo's eyes brightened behind the blindfold.

"Oh?"

Then, without warning, he clasped his hands together in front of Yuji.

"Then ask him if I can challenge him too. Please, Yuji."

Yuji froze.

A grown man who had just told him he was scheduled for execution was now pleading with him like a child asking for dessert before dinner.

"Uh... how am I supposed to ask?"

"Just ask."

"But he barely talks."

"Still worth trying."

Yuji hesitated.

He had no idea whether this would work. Asuramaru had spoken only when he wanted to. Sukuna, on the other hand, had been annoyingly talkative. It was hard not to notice the unfairness there.

Still, Yuji closed his eyes and focused inward.

"Asuramaru," he called silently, "can this person challenge you too?"

No answer came.

Seconds passed.

Yuji was about to open his eyes and admit failure when a clear, melodious voice echoed in his mind.

"Yes."

Yuji jolted.

Then he looked at Gojo.

"He said yes."

"Really?"

Gojo's smile bloomed with pure, shameless excitement.

"Great. Then how do we do this?"

Before Yuji could answer, black smoke began to seep from his body.

It did not pour out like cursed energy. It had no familiar texture, no detectable malice, no traceable flow. It drifted silently toward Gojo like living mist.

Gojo's Limitless reacted at once.

The smoke stopped.

An invisible distance formed between them, separating the black mist from his body.

Gojo observed it with the full precision of the Six Eyes.

Not cursed energy.

Not a barrier technique.

Not a shikigami.

Not a Cursed Spirit.

The smile on his face deepened.

"This really isn't cursed energy."

After confirming that the smoke carried no immediate hostility, Gojo allowed the Limitless to loosen.

The black mist touched him.

His consciousness was pulled away.

A blink later, he stood at the boundary between sky and sea.

The world stretched endlessly in every direction, a vast mirror of water beneath an equally endless sky. The horizon glowed with a strange, serene light, beautiful enough to feel almost unreal.

Only this time, Sukuna was not there.

And somewhere far away, in his own Innate Domain, Ryomen Sukuna sat atop a shrine built from bones.

Then he realized what had happened.

He had been left out.

Sukuna's expression twisted.

"Why wasn't I brought along?!"

At the edge of the sea and sky, Asuramaru's lips curled slightly.

A new boss had appeared.

And it paid well.

...

"So this is Asuramaru's Innate Domain?"

Gojo looked around with genuine appreciation.

"Pretty."

His gaze soon shifted.

On the hilt of a sword stood a young girl with long hair and crimson eyes. Her dress, trimmed in shades of white and violet, stirred in a wind that did not seem to exist. Her ears were pointed, almost elf-like, and her small, delicate figure contrasted sharply with the oppressive presence surrounding her.

Gojo studied her closely.

His Six Eyes saw nothing.

That alone told him more than any answer could.

So my guess was right, he thought. Her power isn't cursed energy at all.

Asuramaru turned her head slightly, looking down at him from the sword hilt.

Gojo remembered his earlier teasing about Yuji's Cursed Technique turning into a girl.

He had not expected to be this close to the truth.

A legendary divine weapon said to house a god, and the god looked like a delicate little girl.

The contrast was almost criminal.

Gojo smiled.

"Well, this is unexpected. Are we fighting here?"

"So you're the one who wants to challenge me?"

Asuramaru's crimson eyes swept over him.

He had to admit, the power hidden inside Gojo Satoru was remarkable. Even without touching him, he could feel the layered abnormality of his existence. Limitless would be troublesome. Fighting him directly without addressing it would be annoying.

But in a Domain, that was another matter.

"That's right," Gojo replied. "But I do have a question. If I win, can I gain your approval and use your Cursed Technique?"

He asked it with the open curiosity of someone inspecting a particularly interesting toy.

He also wanted to know something else.

The so-called first Sword Master. The man said to stand at the top of all those Asuramaru had ever acknowledged.

How strong could such a person truly be?

Asuramaru considered the question for a moment.

"If you can win," she said, "then it is not impossible."

Gojo's grin widened.

"Then let's begin."

Behind Asuramaru, a massive sword emerged from the horizon.

Its presence cut through the beautiful silence of the Domain. Runes glowed along its surface, and from within that light, a figure slowly stepped forward.

He wore a fitted crimson samurai uniform. Two swords hung at his waist. His expression was calm, his eyes clear, and he carried a pressure that did not need to announce itself.

It was the aura of someone who had climbed to the summit and never needed to look down.

Tanjiro Kamado.

Yuji stared from the side, unable to stop himself from asking, "Can Gojo-sensei win?"

Gojo turned slightly and flashed him a confident smile.

"I will win."

The words had barely fallen when the surrounding space shifted.

Under Asuramaru's control, the endless sea and sky opened into a vast arena, leaving enough room for the two combatants to fight freely.

Asuramaru watched from above and murmured, almost to himself, "It seems Tanjiro is going to sweep through the jujutsu world this time."

...

In the arena, Tanjiro did not attack immediately.

He drew Asuramaru from his waist.

Then he drew his second Nichirin Sword.

Dual blades rested in his hands, their edges angled low. His stance was simple, clean, and without a single wasted motion.

Gojo tilted his head.

"So Asuramaru is actually two swords?"

Tanjiro gave no answer.

He had no need to.

What moved him now was not conversation, but battle instinct sharpened across a lifetime.

His breathing changed.

The air ignited.

"Hinokami Kagura, Ultimate Technique: Purgatory Dragon."

Flames erupted from both swords.

They coiled around his body, roaring upward into the shape of a massive dragon. Freed from the limits of his original world, the flames expanded without restraint. The dragon's head alone rose more than ten meters high, its jaws burning with heat like a fragment of the sun.

At the same time, lightning gathered around Tanjiro's legs.

Thunder Breathing.

Fire and thunder fused into one terrifying charge.

The ground beneath his feet shattered.

In the next instant, the dragon surged forward.

Tanjiro vanished inside its blazing maw, and with the speed of lightning and the force of the sun, he arrived before Gojo Satoru.
