"Papa, give them some credit," his son, Rahul, argued, leaning forward with his hands on his knees. "We still hold a lead of 205 runs. That is a huge advantage in New Zealand conditions."

"Lead? What lead?" Rahul's uncle chimed in from the adjacent armchair, scoffing loudly.

"We were cruising at 223 for 2, Rahul! We should have easily scored 500 and batted New Zealand out of the match today. The moment Rudra stopped hitting, the others looked like they forgot which end of the bat to hold. If Rocky does not score at a two-hundred strike rate, this team fails to even wake up for breakfast. This is a shameful carry job."

"It's like Rocky and Virat are the only ones willing to do doing the dirty work," Mrs. Sharma who was also a cricket enthusiasts, commented sharply while shaking her head. "The rest of them simply waits for the 'Bad Boys' to clear the way. This is a two-man army, not a team effort."

Virat leaned in, saying something that made Rocky burst into a mischievous "khe-khe" laugh, the two of them looking more like two brothers who had just won a gully cricket game than the Captain and Vice-Captain of India.

Ian Smith: "A picture of pure confidence. They've demolished the Kiwis with the ball, the bat, and now they're laughing their way to the dressing room. Can New Zealand bat the whole day tomorrow to save their pride, or will India's relentless hunt end this early? We'll find out at 10:00 AM tomorrow. From all of us here at Sky Sports, goodnight from Eden Park."

The press room was a vacuum of tension.

It was packed to the gills—Indian reporters smelling blood, New Zealand journalists looking for answers, and international media fascinated by the "Rudra Phenomenon."

Flashbulbs went off like a lightning storm as Rocky Rudra walked in, wearing his India training kit.

He sat down, took a long, deliberate sip of water, and looked out at the room with a calm, unblinking gaze.

The BCCI media manager tapped the microphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we'll begin the session with India's Vice-Captain, Rocky Rudra."

Question 1 (Andrew Alderson, New Zealand Herald): "Rocky, congratulations on a magnificent century—truly a historic knock. We all want to know the story behind that wolf logo on the lower spine of your Kookaburra bat. Is there a specific significance?"

Rocky leaned forward, bringing his face to the mic, "Thanks, Andrew. It's actually quite a personal story. I recently adopted a pup who looks exactly like a hybrid of a black wolf and a husky. I named him Shadow. To me, he's a bringer of good luck, a part of my family. So, that's why when my agent, Bunty, was negotiating with Kookaburra brand, I requested a special edition that featured Shadow's likeness."

He chuckled, the atmosphere in the press room relaxed slightly.

"I have to say, though, Shadow is a bit of a nightmare. He's incredibly mischievous. Thankfully, Mahi Bhai and Virat Bhai helped me out. They gave me a few 'tactical' tips on how to handle a stubborn pup, but honestly? He only appears obedient when he's in front of my Grandma. After he shredded her favorite sofa, I think he realized she's the real leader of the house, not me."

The room erupted in genuine laughter, the tension breaking for a moment.

Question 2 (Journalist from ESPN): "Rocky, my question is, how do you evaluate the performance of the rest of the Indian team? You and Kohli did the heavy lifting, but the team collapsed almost immediately after your wickets fell. Does it worry you that the middle order and tail can't seem to hold on?"

The room fell into silence.

This was a trap question.

Rocky grumbled inwardly, but he was perfectly calm on the surface.

He shook his head slowly.

"Look, I think it's unfair to judge them like that. If you were out there, you'd see that the ball started moving quite significantly after Tea—the atmosphere changed, the light faded. Honestly, even I couldn't read every delivery perfectly toward the end of my knock. So, jumping to the conclusion that the team 'collapsed' isn't fair. We did fairly well to get a lead of over 200 on Day 1. That's a team effort, not a two-man show."

Whether anyone took it seriously or not, he didn't care. Even if there's a problem in the unit, they had to be discussed privately with the staffs, not exposing everything to Media.

Otherwise, he could say goodbye to his career.

Question 3 (Journalist from Sky Sports NZ): "We've noticed that this Indian side, especially led by Virat and yourself, has become extremely aggressive since the Durban Test. The 'Bad Boy' label is being thrown around by everyone. Is this a new strategy to intimidate the opposition?"

Rocky reply came immediately like he was waiting for that exact question, "No, no... Look, we're actually nice guys off the field. We'll laugh and have meal and party with anyone. But on the field? That's a different matter just like I said it during the South Africa tour that 'I hate losing more than I want to win.' Virat bhai and my philosophies are built that way."

He paused then added with a smile, "Actually, I think anyone who is truly passionate about their path in life, whether it's sports or anything else, thinks like this. On the field, I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to give 200% for my country."

Question 4 (Journalist from Times of India): "Rocky, you broke the record for the fastest Test century today—39 balls. Do you feel like you've officially silenced the critics who questioned your Kookaburra deal?"

Rocky: "I don't play for the critics. I play for the Crest on my chest. If the records come, that's for the fans to enjoy. My job is to make sure that when we leave the field, the opposition knows they were in a fight."

The session ended shortly after.

Rocky stood up, nodded to the reporters, and walked out.

He made his way down the quiet concrete corridor of Eden Park, the sound of his shoes echoing.

He pushed open the heavy wooden doors of the Indian dressing room.

The boys were already packing up, the atmosphere jubilant but focused.

Ishant Sharma was loud as usual, and Shami was icing his shoulder.

"Press went well, Mowgli?" Virat asked, looking up from his bag, not forgetting to tease him.

"Yeah," Rocky said, tossing his kit bag into his locker. "Defended the sofa-shredder. Now let's go get some rest. We have eight wickets to take tomorrow."

He grabbed his jacket, the adrenaline finally fading into a satisfied ache.

The hotel bed was calling, but the hunt wasn't over yet.
