Chapter 117: CXVII. Old Friend from the Martial World
A week had passed.
The situation in Heaven Port had completely stabilized, with nearly two-thirds of the security management fees being collected by Liszt and Qi Li. They only had to wait until the beginning of next month to make their payment, and they were already making a tidy profit.
Liszt had initially planned to give his half of the money to Taylor, but it turned out that his future father-in-law didn’t fancy it at all. Instead, he spent the money on arming his men, which was far better than any cash.
On the second floor of the Black Sail Inn, except for Rein and Shadi, who were guarding the ship, the whole crew was present.
Mika had also been dragged back from the brothel.
There was still no movement from Lostra’s side, and not a trace to be seen on the express ship that had arrived this morning. It was still just adventurers and fugitive uncles—the same old three varieties.
Everyone was anxious, but before the year’s end, they had to pull off the train heist, so they began to lay out their plans.
After careful consideration, Liszt had already made his choice for the crew. Ox and Wolman had to stay behind as venturing into the inland was becoming increasingly arid, which was unsuitable for Ox.
And it was clearly impossible to bring along Wolman, the big guy, to the lands of Aran. Besides, due to the Emperor’s crazy propaganda about conquering the Southern Wetlands, the Sub-dragon people were not only infamous still but, having been defeated, their exploits were repeatedly whipped even in the museum. Their situation in that region was incredibly awkward.
Ignoring Wolman’s astonishing size, it was impossible to bring along this anti-Aran madman. If idle gossip or some Wetland specialty triggered a bout of nostalgia and set him off, forget the plan—their lives wouldn’t be worth a cent. He’d kill as many as he could.
Instead, the main character of this operation was Claude. As an old Aran and a knight who traveled everywhere, he was sure to be extremely well-acquainted with the area.
