Naruto: Sky Screen Across Timelines

Chapter 217: Weakest

[Speaking of Iwagakure, there are relatively few well-known female Shinobis, and Kurotsuchi is the only one qualified to compete for the title.]

At that moment, a woman wearing a red cheongsam and a Tsuchikage hat appeared on the screen.

Her black short hair was neat and sharp, her face delicate, her long legs faintly visible beneath the cheongsam, and her whole being gave off a unique charm of heroism.

[There’s no doubt that, as the Fourth Tsuchikage, Kurotsuchi’s physical features are unique and eye-catching. Her short black hair, black pupils, delicate face, and long, fair legs all are her signature features.]

[However, what can be criticized is her strength. Among the future Five Kage, she can only sit at the same table as the Sixth Mizukage, Chōjūrō, competing for the title of weakest Kage.]

—

[Iwagakure, Tsuchikage’s office]

Kurotsuchi had originally been sitting in a chair with her legs crossed, hands propping up her chin, smiling as she watched the screen.

But the next second, the words “weakest Kage” were like a basin of cold water poured over her, and her smile instantly froze.

“What?!” Kurotsuchi shot up from her chair, angrily pointing at the screen. “This screen is talking nonsense! If I become Tsuchikage in the future, my strength definitely won’t be weak! What weakest Kage? This is slander, pure slander!”

Kurotsuchi’s father, Kitsuchi, stood to the side, looking at his daughter’s furious appearance with a serious expression.

“Kurotsuchi, it seems your training has not been enough. Starting today, your training volume is doubled.”

Hearing that, Kurotsuchi’s face fell. “Dad, that’s a matter for the future! What does it have to do with me now?!”

“It has everything to do with you.” Kitsuchi’s tone left no room for negotiation. “What the screen reveals is a possible future. If you do not work hard now, that is what you will become in the future.”

“But…”

“No buts.” Kitsuchi cut her off. “Starting tomorrow, you get up at five in the morning to train. Earth Release, Taijutsu, Lava Release—none of them can be neglected.”

Kurotsuchi opened her mouth, wanting to retort, but after seeing the serious look in Kitsuchi’s eyes, she slumped back into the chair dejectedly and muttered, “Got it…”

Onoki was floating in midair, looked at his son lecture his granddaughter, stroked his beard, and said slowly: “Kitsuchi, you’re pretty good at lecturing people. But how’s your own training going? Are you qualified to lecture Kurotsuchi?”

Kitsuchi froze. “Father, I…”

“You what?” Onoki snorted coldly. “At least Kurotsuchi can become Tsuchikage in the future. What about you? You didn’t even become Kage. You’ve trained for so many years, and your strength is only so-so. What right do you have to lecture her?”

Kitsuchi’s face turned bright red. His mouth opened, but he couldn’t say a single word.

Kurotsuchi watched her father’s deflated expression, and the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but curl up.

‘Grandpa is awesome!’

“Don’t you laugh either.” Onoki turned to look at Kurotsuchi. “The screen says you are one of the weakest Kage, which means you really will have shortcomings in the future. Starting now, your training will be personally supervised by me.”

Kurotsuchi’s smile froze on her face, looking worse than if she were crying.

—

[Kirigakure, Mizukage’s office]

Mei, Genji, Ao, and the others looked at Chōjūrō with strange expressions.

Mei sighed. “You need to step it up, Chōjūrō. You can’t tarnish Kirigakure’s reputation…”

Chōjūrō was also somewhat speechless.

The screen was clearly talking about Kurotsuchi of Iwagakure, so why had it dragged him in?

And his strength was not weak either, right?

Were the Kage of the other villages really that strong?

Konoha was probably already led by Naruto then, the Child of Prophecy, a Six Paths-level powerhouse. He was definitely the strongest one.

But who were the Kage of Sunagakure and Kumogakure? He hadn’t heard the screen say they had any impressive accomplishments in the future either!

And if Sunagakure’s was Gaara, and Kumogakure’s was about the same strength as the current Raikage, then he himself wouldn’t be very weak among them, right?

[Actually, Kurotsuchi’s strength wasn’t that bad in the early stages. She was excellent in her use of Earth Release Ninjutsu, and she also mastered the Lava Release Kekkei Genkai. Her performance in the Fourth Great Ninja War wasn’t bad either.]

[And after becoming the Tsuchikage, when facing Otsutsuki Kinshiki, she used Earth Release: Underground Submarine Voyage Technique to conceal herself for a surprise attack, then used Earth Release: Super Added-Weight Rock Technique to strengthen the power of her fist and sent Kinshiki flying with one punch.]

[The combat awareness, Ninjutsu application, and powerful strength she displayed were all very impressive.]

The people of the Shinobi World were speechless. Another named Otsutsuki?

Had the future poked an Otsutsuki hornet’s nest? They were appearing one after another.

And what was this one’s relationship to the previously seen Momoshiki, who was suspected to be the strongest Otsutsuki? Their names seemed somewhat related.

However, this Kinshiki guy was clearly a bit weaker. Being sent flying by a relatively weak Kage-level fighter meant his strength definitely couldn’t be that great; Super Kage-level at best.

[However, later Kurotsuchi was easily defeated and imprisoned by a group of artificial humans. This battle record formed a sharp contrast with her earlier performance.]

—

[Iwagakure, Tsuchikage’s office]

Onoki frowned deeply.

Artificial humans?

What were those?

Why would Iwagakure have such things in the future, and why would they imprison Kurotsuchi, who was the Tsuchikage?

[Of course, the Sixth Mizukage Chōjūrō’s later battle record was even uglier.]

[Chōjūrō hails from Kirigakure in the Land of Water. And as a former member of Kirigakure’s Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and also the wielder of the Twin Swords: Hiramekarei, his starting point was actually quite high.]

[In terms of Ninjutsu, he was skilled in Water Release and could use Water Release techniques to assist in battle, such as creating a water curtain to hide his figure, or using water currents to strike opponents. And his Hiramekarei Ninjutsu, coordinated with the Twin Swords: Hiramekarei, was his signature. After absorbing a large amount of chakra, the twin swords could undergo a shape change and fire Chakra light blades, light cannons, or light spikes for long-range attacks.]

[And when Sasuke caused chaos at the Five Kage Summit, he used Hiramekarei: Unseal and successfully drove Sasuke back, demonstrating a certain level of strength.]

[But in the new generation, Chōjūrō’s performance was somewhat unsatisfactory.]

[The new Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist launched a coup and challenged Chōjūrō, the Sixth Mizukage. During the battle, Chōjūrō was immobilized by a female shinobi with fluffy hair who wielded the cursed blade Nuibari, and was also injured by attacks from other members.]

[Yet most of the new Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist were newly minted shinobi whose strength was around Chunin-level. So, as the Mizukage, Chōjūrō being injured by these juniors undoubtedly exposed his shortcomings.]

[Overall, Chōjūrō, this Mizukage, was the most watered-down. Among the new Five Kage, he was probably at the bottom.]

—

[Kirigakure, Mizukage’s office]

Mei and the others looked at one another in dismay.

What was going on?

Kirigakure had another coup in the future?

This really was becoming a fine tradition of Kirigakure!

And it was the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist again. Were they addicted to this?

Maybe they should just stop rebuilding this unit, or change the name. Don’t call it the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, it sounded ominous now.

Chōjūrō lowered his head, his face flushed bright red.

The screen said he was the most “watered-down” Mizukage; at the bottom among the new Five Kage, and had even been injured by a bunch of Chunin-level newcomers.

What a disgrace!

“Mei-sama, I…”

“You don’t need to say anything.” Mei waved her hand. “The screen is talking about the future, not the present. You still have time to work hard.”

Genji nodded. “Chōjūrō, you don’t need to blame yourself too much either. This actually gives you a chance to become even stronger. And it was probably just that after becoming the Mizukage, you got a bit lax because you were busy with affairs.”

Chōjūrō raised his head, tears welling in his eyes. “Elder Genji, I will work hard. I definitely won’t embarrass Kirigakure!”

—

[Iwagakure, Tsuchikage’s office]

Kurotsuchi was delighted.

Hands on her hips, she laughed so hard she bent forward and back.

“Looks like my strength is actually pretty good! At least I can send an Otsutsuki flying with one punch. This Chōjūrō guy can’t even beat Chunin-level newcomers. Tsk tsk tsk, Sixth Mizukage, way too weak.”

Onoki glanced at her. “Don’t celebrate too early. The screen said you were also imprisoned by artificial humans. What’s the difference between that and Chōjūrō being injured by newcomers?”

Kurotsuchi’s laughter stopped abruptly, and her face fell. “Grandpa, can’t you let me be happy for a bit?”

Onoki snorted. “Happy about what? Being imprisoned by artificial humans, is that something to be proud of?”

Kurotsuchi opened her mouth, but couldn’t say a word.

Kitsuchi added from the side: “So anyway, your training is doubled, starting tomorrow.”

Kurotsuchi wailed: “Nooo!”
