Chapter 86: DOMAIN EXPANSION
Morning came quickly and Azrael was already outside, standing in the same place where he had started his domain training the day before.
"What? Didn’t you sleep?" Jasmine asked with a cold tone as she watched Azrael’s shaky eyelids.
Azrael shook his head. "I did," he replied.
"Even if you didn’t sleep, it’s just one night, something that even a mortal should be able to pull off without acting so weak. And you are at tier 3, even not sleeping for a month wouldn’t affect you much."
As she said those words, she raised an eyebrow.
Azrael furrowed his brows as he expected what she wanted to say next.
"Did you somehow manage to access your Sea of Consciousness?" She asked.
"What is that?" Azrael asked, genuinely curious.
He had never heard of it before.
"Don’t worry, seems like you don’t even know what it means," Jasmine waved it off.
Azrael sighed at how casually she dodged the question.
"Let’s continue with yesterday’s class then," Jasmine said, taking a sip from the wine on the table in front of her.
Azrael nodded.
Looking around, he saw the relatively sparse essence motes in the air.
’Did she reduce the amount of essence to make it easier for me?’ Azrael wondered with squinted eyes.
The thought felt too impossible, so he shoved it to the back of his mind before it could fully form.
He counted it as a coincidence.
The essence motes stirred as a soft pulse rippled through them.
As if the pulse had carried a message, they began to drift forward.
Jasmine watched with an unimpressed gaze.
The essence began to slow as they neared Azrael.
Till they came to a complete halt just a few inches from his body.
"Like yesterday, five seconds," Jasmine reminded.
Azrael nodded.
He was sure he could connect with all of them in just five seconds now.
His essence shot out as multiple threads, snaking through the air as they passed through motes after motes.
Within three seconds, all motes were connected.
A smile curved on Jasmine’s lips as she looked at him.
"Seems like you are not a blockhead."
She said it as carelessly as ever.
But she did not say anything further.
Her eyes were fixed on the golden threads.
’I thought yesterday was just a short burst but his essence is always in its purest form,’ she mused.
Although she did not portray any emotion outwardly, within her was a storm of them.
"Now, to the main part, which is actually creating a domain with them."
As she spoke, she stood up from where she sat, stopping just in front of Azrael.
"Spread the motes out as a dome using your thread," Jasmine said.
Azrael did not hesitate. Controlling the threads of essence, he began pushing the motes back.
"The size of your domain depends on how far you spread the thread."
Jasmine went silent for a while.
"But the domain’s power drops the larger the dome is. Especially at your stage where any drop in power would be very obvious."
Azrael furrowed his brows, stopping the dome from spreading any further.
At this point, they had barely passed ten meters from him.
"Continue," Jasmine said, her voice carrying a sharp edge.
"You only stop when I ask you to."
Azrael continued pushing the motes slowly.
"Stop."
As if he had been waiting for those words, Azrael halted the threads.
Jasmine looked around at the motes of essence floating in the air under the guidance of Azrael’s essence threads.
She deactivated her Aura Vision and they disappeared from her sight.
She leapt back with a single tap.
In front of her, a demon formed, made from pure essence.
"Try to use your skill with those essence motes," Jasmine said, leaning against the figure.
Azrael nodded.
The clouds split apart as a spark of lightning tore from them.
Jasmine looked at it and shook her head.
"You only activated a skill. You did not use the essence motes in the air."
"Let me show you how a domain works," she said.
In Azrael’s own eyes, he watched as a large web of essence spread out.
The mote pulling and thread connection had happened in an instant, faster than Azrael’s eyes could track.
’Is this the speed she wants me to reach?’ Azrael wondered with wide eyes.
Compared to his own fifteen meters, this one had covered over a hundred kilometers and was still spreading.
"Since you can see the threads with your Aura Vision, I am sure you saw how fast I created the domain," Jasmine said, her eyes devoid of emotion as she gazed at Azrael.
Azrael nodded slowly, his body moving against his control.
"Now, watch this demonstration."
"Let’s try the same lightning you used earlier."
In Azrael’s own eyes, he saw all the essence motes in the air begin to tremble with pure power.
Then an explosion.
Born of pure lightning, it erupted through the web.
It was as though an apocalypse had descended on the area.
No visible cause. Just the terrifying effect.
Azrael sucked in a cold breath as he gazed around.
Although the Chaos Realm and the house itself took no damage, he knew that was only because of how special both of them were.
In any other location, the destruction would have been catastrophic.
"By using a domain, your attacks don’t need to show a cause. The essence motes channel your intent through themselves and spread it across the entire domain."
Jasmine looked at Azrael with a raised brow, as if asking whether he had understood.
Azrael gulped, his throat moving visibly from the swallow.
He tried it again.
It was the same as before.
A bolt of lightning struck from the sky.
Jasmine looked at him, then returned to her seat.
"It takes time," she said, closing her eyes as she balanced on the chair.
No sooner had she closed her eyes than she heard the sound of the air being torn apart by a violent explosion.
She opened her eyes slowly.
Azrael stared back with a smile.
"It consumes about three times more essence than normal," Azrael said, raising his hand with a heave.
But Jasmine could only stare.
’What sort of monster did we birth in this clan?’
