My Overpowered Demon System

Chapter 50: WRATH BARRIER

Aiden stared at the spot where the students had stood before they vanished from the class.

No, not the students.

His eyes were focused on one particular spot.

And it was not on Zephyr, his new disciple.

It was Azrael.

If anyone had looked into Aiden’s eyes at that moment, they would have seen the shock sitting inside them.

It looked as though Aiden had just witnessed one of the most remarkable things he had ever seen in his life.

’This boy is a monster,’ he thought as the students vanished through the door.

"Too bad Sylvester was unable to win him over," he sighed, finally looking away.

In the next instant, the students appeared in the last class.

Ymir’s body dropped from above, landing with a gentle thud that made it look as though she had simply stepped down from a low ledge.

But Malaric, who had been to the top of that tree, could not help but click his teeth as he thought about what she had just done.

Jumping from that height without a skill or essence to cushion it?

That was the kind of thing that ended lives.

And she had done it like it was nothing.

"You know what you are supposed to do. Get to it," she said, snapping her fingers.

A wave of pressure swept through each of the students, crashing into them like a tide.

But none of them flinched.

A grin graced Ymir’s lips.

The pressure intensified before the previous wave could fully settle.

With it came another surge of fear.

Azrael felt it, but his anger suppressed it before it could take root.

He was not alone.

Every student in the space stood unaffected.

"Seems like you all trained yesterday," Ymir said, releasing the pressure.

She did not linger on it.

"At least you have made my job easier."

She turned back to the tree.

"Have you ever thought about what truly makes a Wrath demon a Wrath demon?" She asked without facing them.

The students shook their heads in unison.

Even those who thought they knew the answer could tell this was a rhetorical question.

"A Wrath demon is a demon that can control their wrath. Not just channel it. Control it."

As she spoke, she flashed a grin toward Malaric.

"For instance, today in Yvonne’s dungeon, the entire battle was elevated to that level because of Malaric’s control."

Beneath her words there was something that sounded close to pride.

"A true Wrath demon should at least have some protection against that kind of influence."

As she spoke, a ring of pure rage essence spread outward from her, then was pulled back almost immediately.

"We will save that for later," she muttered.

"For this class, you will be constructing a wrath barrier."

Her gaze moved slowly across the students as though she was expecting a question.

’Are they too afraid to ask?’ She thought.

She let it go.

"A wrath barrier is a permanent barrier that protects a Wrath demon’s mind from external anger influence, while also shielding it from direct mental attacks."

She paused.

"I will only demonstrate this once. Watch closely."

With those words she turned to face them fully.

Her rage essence began to condense in her palm.

It felt like a force threatening to tear through the natural order of things.

Ymir did nothing to restrain it. She let it rage.

But something was changing with each passing moment.

The essence was growing quieter.

Slowly, but clearly enough that the students could already see it within the first few seconds.

"The goal is to calm the rage until you can mold it safely around your brain," Ymir said.

"And you cannot rush it. Rage only grows wilder the harder you try to force it down. Never force it."

The essence in her palm had already stilled.

It drifted along her skin like a gentle current.

"Watch carefully. This part is dangerous."

She closed her eyes and guided the essence through her nose.

Her eyes snapped open, blood red so deep that her pupils disappeared entirely beneath the color.

A thick vein like structure began to wrap around her head, moving slowly beneath the surface.

Her skull bulged slightly as it passed through.

Then, as it completed a full rotation, it vanished entirely.

The students stared at her like she had just done something that should not have been possible.

"That is it. I have just performed a subtle upgrade to my wrath barrier."

As she spoke, her eyes began returning to their normal color, the crimson pupils gradually becoming visible again.

"Once you create the wrath barrier, you will need to repeat this process over time to strengthen it," she added.

Most of the students swallowed hard at the thought of doing that themselves.

Veins wrapping through their skulls.

"You can begin," she said.

She squinted, then added one more thing.

"Just so you all know, no one is leaving until you have created a wrath barrier."

Muffled gasps spread through the space.

Not quiet enough to escape Ymir’s attention.

"Did I just hear a complaint?" She asked, her tone laced with something that felt like a warning wrapped in calm.

The students shook their heads immediately.

They did not wait for a further reminder. They moved straight into it.

Azrael’s palm erupted with rage essence.

It spiralled outward like an inferno with no intention of settling.

He was not alone in that.

Every student was struggling to contain their rage essence.

Except Malaric.

He held it like someone who had faced far worse and come out the other side unbothered.

As if she had anticipated exactly this result, Ymir raised walls of pure essence between each student, cutting off the rage essence from spreading beyond each person’s immediate space.

The essence pushed back toward its source.

A smile formed on Azrael’s lips as he watched his own begin to lose intensity.

"That could have gotten bad," he muttered.

The essence was now fully contained within his palm.

Like what had happened in Ymir’s demonstration, it began to grow docile, little by little.
