As he kept descending the stairs, Galen sheathed his sword and took out the steel club he got from the goblin chief.
He had been pondering what weapon to choose for a while and was even prepared to spend some of his pitiful origin mana and create a new weapon if needed, since his quest required him to kill different grades of monsters using a different weapon.
With the abysmal drop rate dungeons were famously known for, getting something right off the bat was a pleasant surprise, especially when he needed it.
Though a club wasn't something he was used to, it was more than enough to crush a few insects in the uncommon grade.
Giving it a few casual swings, he finally stepped on the second floor, coming face to face with two humanoid monsters, one wielding a long steel spear and the other, a big rounded shield.
They were both hobgoblins, the next stage of evolution from the goblins.
The same green–coloured skin, the same ugly features and even the same crooked nose on that disgusting face.
Though unlike their weak counterparts, they stood at almost the same height as a normal human, with proportionate limbs filled with enough muscles comparable to a human athlete.
And they weren't as mindless as the goblins, instead opting to first analyze their opponents before engaging in any battle.
They were also known for their fearsome teamwork and coordination when fighting as a group.
Among the two, the shield wielding hobgoblin came forward while the spear wielder followed closely behind.
A simple tactic, and one that works very well most of the time.
But against Galen, it was like children facing off against a giant.
A light swing of his club was all it took to send both monsters flying through the air.
They slammed into the walls of the dungeon, bouncing off them like ragdolls several times before finally collapsing into a heap of crumpled flesh.
Against absolute strength, no amount of strategy was enough to save their lives.
[ You have killed 2 level 11 hobgoblin warriors ]
[ You have earned a lot of exp. ]
[ You have leveled up. ]
[ You have leveled up. ]
If it had been on the outside, just those two kills would've propelled him straight to level 10.
But because of the exp reduction, his levels only rose twice.
Briefly glancing at the notifications, Galen once again started running, manipulating the mana as went to clear away the broken flesh and splattered blood from his way.
As he moved deeper, Galen encountered an increasing number of hobgoblins with raised levels until eventually he was speeding through five level 15 hobgoblins.
Just as he thought the trend was going to continue the same way, the next group only had four warriors with the fifth one being a goblin shaman.
Shamans are a special type of evolution from goblins, who had forgone their physical strength of hobgoblins and obtained the ability to cast magic spells instead.
As he closed the distance between them, a burning fireball suddenly manifested in front of the goblin shaman, who then hurled it straight towards Galen's face.
Galen laughed in disdain looking at the pitiful amount of mana contained in the fireball before swatting it to the side with his bare hands.
For a moment, silence filled the place.
The goblin shaman's eyes went as wide as saucers looking at the absurd sight in front of him.
Even the hobgoblin warriors, usually filled with bravery, were currently standing there with frozen expressions.
Since they weren't moving, Galen began walking between the frozen monsters, his club moving at speeds too fast for their eyes to follow.
By the time he was behind them, their broken bodies fell lifelessly on the ground.
Soon, the following groups met the same fate.
Even when their number began rising once more after level 20, the results were still the same.
In the end, still in perfect condition and without breaking a sweat, Galen stood before the second floor boss room, the broken remains of six hobgoblin warriors and four goblin shamans scattered around the wide hall in which he stood.
Inside the boss room, the level 25 floor boss, Hobgoblin Captain was standing with two level 24 goblin shamans and eight level 20 hobgoblin warriors.
A loud roar escaped the jaws of the three meter tall monstrosity before he threw his two menacing Axes straight at Galen.
The blades, whistling through the air, approached him with pinpoint accuracy, only to get dodged just as they were about to make contact with his body.
Even when he saw that, there was no panic visible on the monster's face.
There was a smug smile plastered on his ugly face like victory was already in his grasp.
Just then, the axes that flew past Galen suddenly returned with even more momentum, one aimed at his neck and the other at his midsection, intending to cut his body apart into three pieces.
A shame, he had already seen through that. A casual backhand swing with his mana reinforced steel club, broke both axes into countless pieces.
The monster's smile froze at the sight.
His devious skill, Boomerang got nullified just like that without doing even a bit of damage. On top of that, he also lost his favourite weapons as a result.
"Nice try."
Galen spoke with a bright smile that only looked like the devil's smirk to the shocked monster.
"Since you like to throw your weapons at others,
here, have a taste of what it feels like to be on the receiving end."
Swiftly mapping out the whole hall in his mind, Galen threw his reinforced club in a specific direction.
The boss was confused for a moment seeing the club's seemingly random trajectory.
But his confusion didn't last long.
Soon, the steel club started ricocheting off the dungeon walls, blasting a hole through the bodies of anything blocking its way.
By the time it returned to Galen's hands once again, every monster there had already lost their lives, including the gigantic Hobgoblin Captain.
The pitiful boss didn't even have the opportunity to use his innate skill – Berserk or any other skills specific to his warrior class, before meeting his untimely end.
