Chapter 160: Convoy
However, the appearance of this item revealed another possibility to Ye Yun.
If he could obtain more of these Esper Cores, he could form a team of Espers.
With that thought in mind, Ye Yun immediately opened the exchange to see if any Esper Cores were for sale.
However, after a thorough search, he couldn’t find a single one.
Ye Yun wasn’t surprised by this.
If anyone got their hands on such a precious item, they would definitely use it themselves rather than put it up for sale.
After all, the gap between Espers and ordinary people was immense. This was especially true since most people had no way of knowing what effects the item would have after being used.
’Looks like if I want more Esper Cores, I’ll have to rely on my own efforts.’
Ye Yun closed the exchange and began to think about his next move.
With the annihilation of the Blood Saber Gang, there were no other powerful factions within a certain radius of the shelter.
However, Ye Yun didn’t let his guard down.
In this wasteland, danger was everywhere. The slightest carelessness could lead to total disaster.
He had to remain vigilant at all times and continuously strengthen the shelter to deal with any potential crises.
Ye Yun opened the system and began to assign the next set of tasks.
First, he had Bena lead the exploration team to conduct a more in-depth exploration of the surrounding areas.
He needed to understand the surrounding environment better to identify potential threats and opportunities.
[Evaluation Type: Exploration]
[Assessing operation risk...]
[Assessment: White Item Drop Rate: 14%; Green Item Drop Rate: 33.5%; Blue Item Drop Rate: 51.495%; Purple Item Drop Rate: 1.005%; Risk Level: 0.724%]
Confirming there was no risk, Ye Yun immediately had Bena and his team set out again.
Bena’s exploration team set off once more.
In addition to the veteran members—Zhou Mei, Lanton, Zhou Yiming, and Neil—the team now had two new additions.
Hawke and No. 2, both of whom had performed exceptionally well in the previous battle, had successfully proven their strength and value.
Bena was very satisfied with the two new members’ performance and believed they would play an important role in the upcoming exploration.
"Listen up, everyone," Bena reminded the team before they departed. "Our exploration range will be wider this time, and we might encounter more dangers. But as long as we stay vigilant and united, we can overcome any difficulty."
Everyone nodded in understanding. They were all experienced Warriors who knew that danger lurked everywhere in this wasteland.
Bena then looked at Zhou Mei and Hawke.
"Zhou Mei, Hawke, you two are on reconnaissance and scouting. Make sure we don’t walk into any traps or ambushes."
"Understood, Captain Bena," Zhou Mei and Hawke immediately accepted their orders.
"Neil, you’re in charge of checking the surroundings for any valuable resources or supplies," Bena continued, issuing his commands.
"No problem. I’ll keep an eye on every detail," Neil replied with a serious nod.
"Zhou Yiming, you’re responsible for the team’s healing and support. Keep everyone safe," Bena said to Zhou Yiming.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be on standby at all times," Zhou Yiming responded confidently.
Bena was satisfied with everyone’s response. He believed this team, forged in the crucible of battle, could definitely survive in the wasteland.
"Alright, let’s move out!"
At Bena’s command, the exploration team embarked on their new journey.
Six motorcycles sped across the wasteland, kicking up clouds of dust as they advanced into unknown territory.
Led by Bena, the team gradually moved away from the shelter and entered a more desolate and dangerous region.
They crossed dried-up riverbeds, traversed broken highways, and skirted abandoned towns, carefully avoiding any potential mutated creatures or other factions along the way.
Thanks to Zhou Mei and Hawke’s reconnaissance, the team successfully avoided several potential crises and encountered no major obstacles.
Meanwhile, Neil continuously scanned the surroundings as they traveled, searching for any possible resources and supplies.
After exploring for some time, the team finally discovered some unusual signs in a stretch of ruins.
"Captain Bena, there are signs of a battle here," Zhou Mei said, stopping in front of a dilapidated building and pointing at some marks on the ground.
Bena walked over for a closer look and found shell casings and bloodstains on the ground, as well as distinct scratches and bullet holes on the walls.
"Looks like someone passed through here, and a fight broke out," Bena analyzed in a low voice.
Neil also went forward to examine the scene. "Judging by these tracks, the battle must have happened recently," he said, offering his opinion. "It was probably two or three large mutated creatures. The two sides were about evenly matched, but I’m guessing the humans were at a disadvantage."
"We need to be on high alert. There might be other factions or dangers nearby," Bena reminded everyone.
"Zhou Mei, Hawke, go scout the surrounding area. See if you can find any enemy tracks," Bena ordered.
"Understood." Zhou Mei and Hawke immediately accepted the order and began scouting the ruins.
Meanwhile, Bena had the others rest for a moment in the ruins while they waited for Zhou Mei and Hawke’s report.
After a short while, Zhou Mei and Hawke returned to the team.
"Captain Bena," Zhou Mei reported, "we found some footprints and tire tracks nearby. It looks like a convoy passed through here and was attacked by mutated creatures."
"Judging by the direction of the tracks, they must have headed east," Hawke added.
Bena thought for a moment before making a decision.
"Let’s follow them. We might find some useful information or resources," Bena said.
Everyone agreed.
And so, the team continued onward under Bena’s lead, following the direction of the tracks.
At Bena’s command, the team proceeded east along the trail from the ruins.
They remained vigilant, ready to deal with attacks from mutated creatures or other factions at any moment.
During their search, the team found some abandoned vehicles and supplies.
The vehicles had clearly been through a fight; some still bore the marks of mutated creature attacks.
Neil and the others began to inspect the vehicles and supplies, hoping to find useful items.
"Captain Bena, there are some supplies in these vehicles. It looks like they were abandoned in a hurry," Neil reported after inspecting a wrecked vehicle.
Bena nodded. "Good. Let’s gather anything useful. It might come in handy."
During the salvage operation, every member of the team put their specialty to use.
Zhou Mei and Hawke stood guard, Zhou Yiming inspected the supplies for medicine and medical equipment, and Neil searched for materials that could be used to make traps or explosives.
Just as the team was busy collecting supplies, Zhou Mei suddenly raised her hand, signaling for everyone to stop. Her ears twitched slightly, as if she had heard an unusual sound.
"Captain Bena, I hear something. It might be mutated creatures," Zhou Mei said in a low voice.
