Chapter 158: The Death of Blood Saber
Unease began to grow in Blood Saber’s heart. He knew that if he didn’t find a way out of this, he and his Blood Saber Gang might be completely wiped out here today.
"Everyone, concentrate your fire! Take out that woman first!" Blood Saber roared, pointing at Zhou Mei, who was weaving through the battlefield.
Hearing the command, the members of the Blood Saber Gang immediately switched their target to Zhou Mei. Though agile, Zhou Mei found herself in peril under the concentrated fire of so many enemies.
Seeing this, Bena immediately gave an order. "Neil, Number Two, go support Zhou Mei!"
Neil and Number Two instantly changed their targets and began to provide support for Zhou Mei.
Their intervention immediately relieved much of the pressure on Zhou Mei.
The battle once again fell into a stalemate, with both sides looking for an opportunity to break the deadlock.
But as time went on, the Blood Saber Gang’s numbers dwindled, while Bena and his team’s morale soared.
Blood Saber knew that if he didn’t act now, he and his Blood Saber Gang truly would be annihilated.
He began to consider retreating, but he was unwilling to give up just like that.
Just as Blood Saber was hesitating, a sharp glint flashed in Bena’s eyes.
’To get distracted thinking about other things during such a fierce battle... he’s simply asking for death.’
He suddenly leaped up, his short blade tracing a cold glint of light through the air as he aimed straight for Blood Saber’s vitals.
Startled, Blood Saber hastily swung his own saber to block.
But Bena’s strike was immensely powerful. Though Blood Saber blocked the attack, the impact forced him back several steps.
Bena didn’t let the opportunity slip. He quickly followed up, slashing at Blood Saber once more.
Blood Saber barely managed to defend himself, but Bena’s assault was like a violent storm, leaving him completely overwhelmed.
Just then, Lanton also found an opening. He charged at Blood Saber, ruthlessly smashing his weapon against Blood Saber’s back.
Although Blood Saber sensed Lanton’s attack, he was currently tied up with Bena and had no way to dodge.
With a loud THUD, Lanton’s weapon slammed hard into Blood Saber’s back. Blood Saber immediately spat out a mouthful of blood.
"So this is all the leader of the Blood Saber Gang amounts to!"
Bena sneered as his short blade slashed toward Blood Saber again.
Though gravely injured, a vicious glint flashed in Blood Saber’s eyes.
He knew that if he didn’t fight with everything he had, he would likely die here today.
"You bastards, go to hell together!" Blood Saber roared. A powerful aura suddenly erupted from his body, and a crimson light enveloped him completely.
"Not good, he’s going all out!"
Bena and Lanton exchanged a look, both seeing the gravity in the other’s eyes.
The crimson light around Blood Saber grew brighter and brighter until he resembled a blood-red sun, radiating a blinding glow.
"Everyone, fall back!" Bena shouted. He knew Blood Saber was about to unleash some kind of powerful skill. Staying within his attack range could be fatal.
Bena and the others quickly retreated, putting some distance between themselves and Blood Saber.
At that moment, Blood Saber brandished his long saber, unleashing waves of crimson energy that scattered in all directions, forming violent, blood-colored tempests.
These crimson tempests swept across the entire battlefield, destroying everything in their path.
Although Bena’s team had already fallen back, they were still caught in the aftermath. They were forced to retreat even further to avoid being struck by the crimson tempests.
After unleashing this powerful attack, Blood Saber was left completely drained. The move had clearly taken a massive toll on him.
Clearly aware of his condition after using his ultimate move, Blood Saber immediately took his remaining underlings and bolted into the distance.
"Now’s our chance! Finish him!" Bena ordered upon seeing this.
Bena, Lanton, Zhou Mei, and the others immediately charged toward Blood Saber. They knew this was the perfect opportunity to finish him off.
Though Blood Saber wanted to fight back, he was completely exhausted and couldn’t possibly withstand their assault.
In just a few moments, Blood Saber was killed by Bena and his team.
With Blood Saber’s death, the remaining members of the Blood Saber Gang completely lost their will to fight and began to scatter and flee.
But Bena and his team didn’t let them go. They pursued them, killing the gang members one by one.
The battle was finally over. Although Bena’s team had paid a certain price, they had ultimately succeeded in completely eliminating the threat of the Blood Saber Gang.
··········
Meanwhile, back in the shelter, Ye Yun had been monitoring the entire battle through his communication device.
He knew that while the battle was a victory, it had also exposed some problems.
Still, a victory was always something to be happy about.
’As long as everyone is alright, these minor issues can be corrected later.’
"Bena, rest up over there for now. Come back tomorrow," Ye Yun said to Bena over the comms.
"Understood, Administrator," Bena replied.
With the complete annihilation of the Blood Saber Gang, peace returned to the abandoned community. Bena and the others didn’t leave right away, instead taking a short rest where they were.
Bena checked on the team’s casualties. Fortunately, while a few members were injured, there were no fatal losses.
He had Zhou Yiming prioritize treating the wounded to ensure the team’s combat effectiveness could be restored as quickly as possible.
"We won this battle, but it also exposed some problems," Bena said to the team.
"We still know too little about our enemies, especially their ability users. They caused us a lot of trouble."
"It’s true. Blood Saber’s ability was incredibly difficult to deal with. If Bena hadn’t acted in time, I might have..."
Zhou Mei said with lingering fear. Her shoulder and thigh were still wrapped in bandages, but her spirits had mostly recovered.
"Even though we successfully defeated the Blood Saber Gang, we can’t let our guard down. As a faction near October Town, their destruction will likely attract the attention of other powers."
Bena reminded everyone, "We must improve our strength as quickly as possible to deal with any new threats that may arise."
"Bena’s right. We can’t get complacent just because of one victory," Lanton agreed. "Next, we need to train even harder and improve our own abilities."
"Besides improving our strength, we also need to focus on gathering intelligence."
Neil added, "We knew too little about the enemy in this fight, which contributed to our losses. If we had information on them beforehand, we could have devised better tactics and reduced unnecessary casualties."
Bena nodded, satisfied with everyone’s performance. Although they had faced some difficulties, the team’s cohesion and combat strength had both improved significantly.
"Alright, everyone get some rest for now," Bena commanded. "First thing tomorrow morning, we’ll return to the shelter and report the situation to the Administrator."
Everyone nodded. They gathered in a circle, tended to their wounds, ate some food, and then took turns standing watch, remaining vigilant.
Early the next morning, Bena led the team out of the abandoned community and began the journey back to the shelter. After driving for some time, they finally arrived safely back at the shelter.
